The effect of impact with adjacent structure on seismic behavior of base-isolated buildings with DCFP bearings

  • Since the isolation bearings undergo large displacements in base-isolated structures, impact with adjacent structures is inevitable. Therefore, in this investigation, the effect of impact on seismic response of isolated structures mounted on double concave friction pendulum (DCFP) bearings subjected to near field ground motions is considered. A non-linear viscoelastic model of collision is used to simulate structural pounding more accurately. 2-, 4- and 8-story base-isolated buildings adjacent to fixed-base structures are modeled and the coupled differential equations of motion related to these isolated systems are solved in the MATLAB environment using the SIMULINK toolbox. The variation of seismic responses such as base shear, displacement in the isolation system and superstructure (top floor) is computed to study the impact condition. Also, the effects of variation of system parameters: isolation period, superstructure period, size of seismic gap between two structures, radius of curvature of the sliding surface and friction coefficient of isolator are contemplated in this study. It is concluded that the normalized base shear, bearing and top floor displacement increase due to impact with adjacent structure. When the distance between two structures decreases, the base shear and displacement increase comparing to no impact condition. Besides, the increase in friction coefficient difference also causes the normalized base shear and displacement in isolation system and superstructure increase in comparison with bi-linear hysteretic behavior of base isolation system. Totally, the comparison of results indicates that the changes in values of friction coefficient have more significant effects on 2-story building than 4- and 8-story buildings.

수산물에서 분리한 대장균의 분리특성 및 항생제 감수성 (Characteristics and Antibiotics Susceptibility of Escherichia coli Isolated from Fishery Products)

  • 총 2429건의 시판 수산물에서 296건의 E. coli가 분리되어 평균 12.2%의 분리율을 보였다. 대장균은 연중 분리되나, 하절기 특히 8, 9월에 가장 높은 분리율을 보였다. 어종별 대장균 분리율은 갑각류 15.6%, 연체류 14.4%, 패류 12.0%, 어류 11.0%로 나타나 어종간의 분리율 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 패류의 경우는 평균 대장균 분리율은 12.0%이지만, 비탈 각패류에서는 6.8%, 탈각패류에서는 16.3%의 분리율을 보여 큰 차이가 있었다. 지역별로는 경남산 어패류에서 대장균 분리율이 14.3%로 높게 나타났고, 제주는 6.9%로 낮은 분리율을 보였다. Tetracycline 및 $\beta$-lactam계 항생제에 대한 내성은 비교적 높았던 반면, chloramphenicol과 aminoglycoside계 항생제에 대한 내성은 전혀 없거나 아주 낮은 빈도로 출현하였으며 다제내성주의 빈도는 35.1%로 임상분리주에서 보다 낮게 나타났다.

  • 본 논문에서는 제4세대 소듐냉각고속로(Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactor)의 후보 노형으로 선정된 KALIMER-600에 대한 단순 지진해석모델을 개발하고 시간이력 지진응답해석을 수행하여 수평 면진설계(Seismic Isolation) 기술이 적용된 원자로건물의 주요기기 및 구조물에서의 지진응답 성능을 분석하였다. 개발된 단순 지진해석모델은 원자로건물, 원자로시스템, 주요 기기, 중간 열전달계통 배관, 그리고 면진장치를 포함하며 각각은 상세 유한요소해석을 통한 동특성 비교검증을 통하여 정확성을 검증하였다. 안전정지기준 0.3g의 설계인공지진 하중에 대한 시간이력 지진응답해석을 수행하여 면진설계와 비면진 설계조건에 따른 원자로 주요 부위에서의 층응답스펙트럼을 비교분석한 결과 KALIMER-600의 면진성능이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

Considering Dynamic Non-Segmental Phonetics

  • This presentation aims to explore some possibility of non-segmental phonetics usually ignored in phonetics education. In pedagogical phonetics, especially ESL/EFL oriented phonetics speech sounds tend to be classified in two criteria 1) 'pronunciation' which deals with segments and 2) 'prosody' or 'suprasegmentals', a criterion that deals with non-segmental elements such as stress and intonation. However, speech involves more dynamic processing. It is non-linear and multi-dimensional in spite of the linear sequence of symbols in phonetic/phonological transcriptions. No word is without pitch or voice quality apart from segmental characteristics whether it is spoken in isolation or cut out from continuous speech. This simply tells the dichotomy of pronunciation and prosody is merely a useful convention. There exists some room to consider dynamic non-segmental phonetics. Examples of non-segmental phonetic investigation, some of the analyses conducted within the frame of Firthian Prosodic Analysis, especially of the relation between vowel variants and foot types, are examined and we see what kind of auditory phonetic training is required to understand impressionistic transcriptions which lie behind the non-segmental phonetics.

진동대 실험 및 해석을 통한 고감쇠 고무받침의 면진성능 연구 (A Study on Isolation Performance of High Damping Rubber Bearing Through Shaking Table Test and Analysis)

  • 최근 빈번하게 발생하는 크고 작은 지진에 대비하여 구조물의 지진에 대한 안전성을 확보하기 위한 방안으로 지진격리시스템을 이용한 연구개발과 사용이 점차 증가하고 있다. 지진격리시스템의 하나인 고감쇠 고무받침(HDRB)는 특수한 고감쇠 고무(HDR)를 이용한 적층형 고무받침으로서 유사 지진격리장치인 납 고무받침에 비해 감쇠기능이 다소 떨어지는 단점이 있어 활용도가 높지 않았다. 그러나, 고감쇠 고무받침은 재료와 형상이 유사한 천연고무받침의 비해 우수한 감쇠력을 가지고 있으며 기존 납 고무받침의 경우 납의 유해성이 문제되어 납을 사용하지 않은 고감쇠 고무받침에 대한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고감쇠 고무받침을 대상으로 압축응력 의존성 및 주파수 의존성, 반복하중 의존성 등 다양한 특성에 대하여 실험을 실시하였다. 그리고 여러 계기지진파 상태에서 고감쇠 고무받침의 내진성능을 평가하기 위해 진동대 실험과 분석을 수행하였다. 축소교량에 고감쇠 고무받침을 적용한 모델을 사용했고, 지진격리와 비 지진격리로 구분하여 진행하였다. 그 결과 고감쇠 고무받침을 적용할 경우 비 지진격리의 경우에 비해 높은 감쇠효과를 보였으나 Mexico City와 같은 연약지반의 구조물에 지진격리를 적용할 경우 오히려 구조물의 응답이 증가하는 양상을 나타내 지진격리장치 적용성에 주의해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Therefore, absorber is used for vibration/shock isolation and various qualities of the material and design are applied to isolation. This paper proposes vibration/shock absorber that applies 'Disc' spring. Through comparison with 'Disc' spring that has nonlinearity and coil spring that is having linearity, see effect that nonlinearity of isolation gets in vibration/shock Isolation. Coil spring and 'Disc' spring are non-linear numerical analysis and simulation through theory for this, get and investigate comparison result through an experiment finally. Expressed and formulated shock through 'Runge-Kutta' method/impact response to nonlinear-vibration-equation of 1 degree of freedom for numerical analysis. Double half sine pulse of excitation used and analyzed result through spectrum response analysis here. Response of disc spring is compared to response of coil spring by changing $h_o/t$ ratio with computer simulation and the usage of disc spring is increased through analysis of effect of design factors. The purpose of this paper is that the shock response of disc spring is calculated through numerical simulation and to design the optimal absorber under the limited condition. And then, the isolation effect was analyzed through the shock test.

A New Isolation and Evaluation Method for Marine-Derived Yeast spp. with Potential Applications in Industrial Biotechnology

  • Yeasts that are present in marine environments have evolved to survive hostile environments that are characterized by high exogenous salt content, high concentrations of inhibitory compounds, and low soluble carbon and nitrogen levels. Therefore, yeasts isolated from marine environments could have interesting characteristics for industrial applications. However, the application of marine yeast in research or industry is currently very limited owing to the lack of a suitable isolation method. Current methods for isolation suffer from fungal interference and/or low number of yeast isolates. In this paper, an efficient and non-laborious isolation method has been developed and successfully isolated large numbers of yeasts without bacterial or fungal growth. The new method includes a three-cycle enrichment step followed by an isolation step and a confirmation step. Using this method, 116 marine yeast strains were isolated from 14 marine samples collected in the UK, Egypt, and the USA. These strains were further evaluated for the utilization of fermentable sugars (glucose, xylose, mannitol, and galactose) using a phenotypic microarray assay. Seventeen strains with higher sugar utilization capacity than the reference terrestrial yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC 2592 were selected for identification by sequencing of the ITS and D1/D2 domains. These strains belonged to six species: S. cerevisiae, Candida tropicalis, Candida viswanathii, Wickerhamomyces anomalus, Candida glabrata, and Pichia kudriavzevii. The ability of these strains for improved sugar utilization using seawater-based media was confirmed and, therefore, they could potentially be utilized in fermentations using marine biomass in seawater media, particularly for the production of bioethanol and other biochemical products.

LRB, FPS 지진격리시스템의 지진응답특성 비교연구 (Seismic Response Comparative Evaluation Study on Floor Isolation using LRB and FPS in Main Control Room of Nuclear Power Plant)

  • 본 연구에서는 원전 주제어실의 층 지진격리시스템에 대한 지진동 저감성능과 적용성을 평가하기 위해서 실험연구를 수행하였다. 층 지진격리시스템에 적용하기 위해서 납-고무 베어링(LRB)과 마찰진자장치(FPS)를 설계하고 제작하였다. 제어 캐비닛과 액세스 플로어로 구성된 원전 주제어실 부분 실험모형을 제작하여 납-고무 베어링과 마찰진자장치를 각각 설치하여 진동대 실험을 수행하여 지진응답특성을 비교, 평가하였다. 실험을 위해서 원전 주제어실의 운전기준지진(OBE)과 안전정지지진(SSE)의 수평방향 층응답 스펙트럼을 이용하여 인공지진 시간이력을 만들어서 진동대 실험에 사용하였다. 입력지진에 대한 실험모형의 지진응답은 마찰진자장치를 적용한 경우 상대적으로 우수한 지진동 저감특성을 나타냈다.
