  • Objective : This study aimed to develop an information and communication technology (ICT)-based, non-face-to-face lifestyle program for older adults and assess its applicability. Methods : The program was developed on the basis of the ADDIE model which comprises 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In this study, a step-by-step identification was performed in 8 stages. Results : The results of the program analysis showed a significant decrease in depressive symptoms and loneliness scores, and an increased quality of life scores. Conclusion : The findings suggest that the ICT-based non-face-to-face lifestyle program developed in this study can motivate older adults to better understand their lifestyles for successful aging, while helping senior citizen centers resume stagnant projects.

  • Due to COVID-19, the face-to-face on-site exhibitions were not held. With this opportunity, technologies such as virtual reality/augmented reality are increasing attention, and these technologies are being used in many fields. In this study, we made a virtual exhibition content which was produced using virtual reality technology. Our virtual exhibition was held in parallel with the on-site exhibition that included the same contents. Also this exhibition provided an opportunity to realistic experience using the head mounted display. In order to provide a high sense of presence, we created an open virtual space and used realistic 3D objects and textures. Although it is a virtual exhibition, the audience can experience a sense of realism like an on-site exhibition. After the exhibition was over, a survey was conducted on the audience who participated in both the on-site exhibition and virtual exhibition to analyze their responses. As a result of the survey, the similarity and immersion of the virtual exhibition were highly evaluated.

  • With the recent rapid development of mobile terminals and personal computers and the advent of neural network technology, real-time face swapping using images has become possible. In particular, the cycle generative adversarial network made it possible to replace faces using uncorrelated image data. In this paper, we propose an input data processing scheme that can improve the quality of face swapping with less training data and time. The proposed scheme can improve the image quality while preserving facial structure and expression information by combining facial landmarks extracted through a pre-trained neural network with major information that affects the structure and expression of the face. Using the blind/referenceless image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) score, which is one of the AI-based non-reference quality metrics, we quantitatively analyze the performance of the proposed scheme and compare it to the conventional schemes. According to the numerical results, the proposed scheme obtained BRISQUE scores improved by about 4.6% to 14.6%, compared to the conventional schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for tracking each human in a surveillance camera network with various resolution cameras. When tracking human on multiple non-overlapping cameras, the traditional appearance features are easily affected by various camera viewing conditions. To overcome this limitation, the proposed system utilizes facial information along with appearance information. In general, human images captured by the surveillance camera are often low resolution, so it is necessary to be able to extract useful features even from low-resolution faces to facilitate tracking. In the proposed tracking scheme, texture-based face descriptor is exploited to extract features from detected face after face frontalization. In addition, when the size of the face captured by the surveillance camera is very small, a super-resolution technique that enlarges the face is also exploited. The experimental results on the public benchmark Dana36 dataset show promising performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • The advent of the "un-tact 2.0 era," described as a "new normal non-face-to-face social relationship," accelerates the transformation of the living paradigm as a fully digital mediated social relationship. The emergence of these new forms of digital behaviors and mediated relationships significantly influences the industry prospect and consumers' individual lives. Advertising has played a decisive role in moving the formation forces of society, creating a dynamic flow of the capitalist system across races and geographical boundaries. Its role will become more fundamental in the physical contactless environment due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Accordingly, advertising has changed and modified its shape and meaning throughout history to adapt to the dynamic external environment. In this article, we illustrated four primary stages of the evolution in the advertising industry from simple advertising to convergence of advertising. Finally, we also identified the challenges of the present advertising industry and the paradigm transformation of "un-tact 2.0" with various related examples.

  • This study explored social media use among 50 adolescents attending a public high school in a non-Western community. Adolescents participated in focus group interviews and completed a written self-report survey. Findings revealed that these teenagers use electronic communication forms such as phone texting and social networking sites to connect with friends and family. They show a preference for Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, do not engage in risky Internet behavior, and acknowledge both positive and negative aspects of electronic communication forms. In addition, their selection of electronic communication forms is dependent upon several factors that include the strength of the relationship and type of discourse exchange. For example, they reserve phone texting and cell use, which are more private communication mediums for family and friends. Electronic communication did not replace face-to-face interactions; rather it complemented and extended those interactions. Findings support existing literature on adolescent social media use and those shared with other collectivist cultural groups.

  • Nowadays, fintech becomes the key technology of the mobile banking and payments. Financial market is moved to fintech-based non-face-to-face trade/payment from traditional face-to-face process in Korea. Core of this transition is the smartphones, which have several sensitive sensors for personal identifications such as fingerprint and iris recognition sensors. But it has some originated security risks by data path attacks, for instance, hacking and pharming. Multi-level certification and security systems are applied to avoid these threats effectively, while these protections can be cause of some inconvenience for non-face-to-face certifications and financing processes. In this paper, I confirmed that it have sensible differences correspond with the data connection paths such as WiFi networks and mobile communication networks of the smartphones, and I propose a gradual certification method which alleviates the inconvenience by risk-level definitions of the data-paths.

  • In this thesis, to accurately measure 3D face information using the spatial encoding patterns, the new algorithm to segment the pattern images from initial face pattern image is proposed. If the obtained images is non-homogeneous texture and ambiguous boundary pattern, the pattern segmentation is very difficult. Furthermore. the non-encoded areas by accumulated error are occurred. In this thesis, the FCM(fuzzy c-means) clustering method is proposed to enhance the robust encoding and segmentation rate under non-homogeneous texture and ambiguous boundary pattern. The initial parameters for experiment such as clustering class number, maximum repetition number, and error tolerance are set with 2, 100, 0.0001 respectively. The proposed pattern segmentation method increased 8-20% segmentation rate with conventional binary segmentation methods.

  • Recently, much of the intelligent security scenario and criminal investigation demands for matching photo and non-photo. Existing face recognition system can not sufficiently guarantee these needs. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to improve the performance of heterogeneous face recognition systems by reducing the different modality between sketches and photos of the same person. The proposed algorithm extracts each image's texture features through texture descriptors (gray level co-occurrence matrix, multiscale local binary pattern), and based on this, generates a transformation matrix through eigenfeature regularization and extraction techniques. The score value calculated between the vectors generated in this way finally recognizes the identity of the sketch image through the score normalization methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to closely analyze the case of blended-learning in order to provide a diverse and flexible learning environment while maintaining the nature of face-to-face classes, and to identify the learning environment that supports blended-learning in each class step and the educational experience of students. The experience and satisfaction of blended learning were investigated in various ways: course evaluation, LMS activity evaluation, and questionnaire before and after the class. As a result, the blended-learning is better than the traditional face-to-face classes, in providing real-time feedback, opportunities for various interactions, and textual conversations, anytime and anywhere. In addition, as a result of the preliminary survey, as a measure to solve the opinion that concentration was reduced due to problems such as networks and felt uncomfortable in the communication part, the theory and lectures of the design practice class were conducted non-face-to-face. The individual Q&A and feedback were conducted face-to-face and non-face-to-face. As a result of the follow-up survey, it was found that concentration and efficiency could be improved. This opens up possibilities for active use of the online environment in design practice classes.
