GFRP 보강근의 이음성능 (Lap Splice Length of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Reinforcing Bar)

  • The lap splice lengths of deformed steel reinforcing bars and GFRP bars were experimentally compared using beam specimens. The purpose was to evaluate the length required of the GFRP bar to develop strength at least equivalent to the conventional steel reinforcing bar. The main test variable was the lap splice length: 10, 20, 30 $d_b$ for the deformed steel bars and 20, 30, 40 $d_b$ for the GFRP bars. Two different types of GFRP bars were tested: (1) one with spiral-type deformation and (2) plain round bars. Elastic modulus was about 1/5 of the steel bars while the tensile strength was about 690 MPa for the GFRP bars. Nominal diameter of the GFRP bars and steel bars was 12.7 and 13 mm, respectively. Normal strength concrete (28-day $f_{cu}$ = 30 MPa) was used. For the conventional steel bars (SD400 grade), strength over 400 MPa in tension was developed using the lap splice length of 20 and 30 $f_{cu}$. Only $87\%$ of the nominal yield strength was reached with the lap splice length of 10 $d_b$. For the spiral-type deformed GFRP bars with $40-d_b$ lap splice length, 440 MPa in tension was determined. The maximum tensile strength developed of the GFRP bars with smaller lap splice lengths decreased. The plain GFRP bar was not effective in developing the tensile strength even with $40-d_b$ lap splice length. Development of the cracks on beam surface was clearly visible for the beams reinforced with the GFRP bars. Mid-span deflections, however, were significantly smaller than the comparable beams with conventional steel bars indicating potential ductility problem.

Effect of Alloying on the Microstructure and Fatigue Behavior of Fe-Ni-Cu-Mo P/M Steels

  • The effect of alloying mode and porosity on the axial tension-tension fatigue behavior of a P/M steel of nominal composition Fe-4w/o Ni-1.5w/o Cu-O.5w/o Mo-O.5w/o C has been evaluated. Alloying modes utilized were elemental powder mixing, partial alloying(distaloy) and prealloying by water atomization; in each case the carbon was introduced as graphite prior to sintering. Powder compacts were sintered($1120{\circ}C$/30 min.) in 7Sv/o $H_2$/25v/o $N_2$ to densities in the range 6.77-7.2 g/$cm^3$. The dependence of fatigue limit response on alloying mode and porosity was interpreted in terms of the constituent phases and the pore and fracture morphologies associated with the three alloying modes. For the same nominal composition, the three alloying modes resulted in different sintered microstructures. In the elemental mix alloy and the distaloy, the major constituent was coarse and fine pearlite, with regions of Ni-rich ferrite, Ni-rich martensite and Ni-rich areas. In contrast, the prealloy consisted primarily of martensite by with some Ni-rich areas. From an examination of the fracture surfaces following fatigue testing it was concluded that essentially all of the fracture surfaces exhibited dimpled rupture, characteristic of tensile overload. Thus, the extent of growth of any fatigue cracks prior to overload was small. The stress amplitude for the three alloying modes at 2x$l0^6$ was used for the comparison of fatigue strengths. For load cycles <3x$l0^5$, the prealloy exhibited optimum fatigue response followed by the distaloy and elemental mix alloy, respectively. At load cycles >2x$l0^6$, similar fatigue limits were exhibited by the three alloys. It was concluded that fatigue cracks propagate primarily through pores, rather than through the constituent phases of the microstructure. A decrease in pore SIze improved the S-N behavior of the sintered steel.

과대공을 갖는 고장력 볼트 이음부의 역학적 거동에 관한 실험 및 해석적 연구 (An Experimental and Analytical Studies on the Mechanical Behavior of High Tension Bolted Joints with Oversize Hole)

  • 볼트 구멍의 크기가 고장력 볼트 이음부의 역학적 거동 및 내부 압축응력 분포에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 과대공 및 표준공을 갖는 고장력 볼트 이음부에 대한 실험 및 해석적 연구를 실시하였다. 실험적 연구에서는 정적 인장시험과 피로시험을 실시하여 미끄러짐 특성, 피로강도 및 피로파단 양상을 평가하였으며, 해석적 연구에서는 유한요소해석을 통하여 내부 압축응력의 분포영역을 밝히고, 내부 압축응력의 분포가 역학적 거동에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 실험결과, 과대공을 갖는 고장력 볼트 이음부의 미끄러짐 계수와 피로강도는 표준공을 갖는 이음부와 비교하여 큰 차이는 없으나 다소 감소하는 경향이 나타났다. 이러한 원인은 과대공 시험편의 경우 볼트 구멍의 크기가 표준공 시험편과 비교하여 상대적으로 크기 때문에 축력의 작용폭이 좁아져 마찰영역으로 작용하는 내부 압축응력의 분포영역이 작아지기 때문으로 판단되며, 이는 유한요소해석 결과로도 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 피로시험 결과 과대공 시험편의 피로균열의 발생점이 표준공 시험편 보다 볼트 구멍 내벽에 가까운 것을 알 수 있어, 피로균열의 발생위치는 고장력 볼트의 도입축력에 의해 모재와 이음판에 형성되는 내부 압축응력의 분포영역과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

기존/개선 수치 해석 기법을 이용한 계류 체인 링크의 면외 굽힘 강성 (Out-Of-Plane Bending Stiffnesses in Offshore Mooring Chain Links Based on Conventional and Advanced Numerical Simulation Techniques)

  • After an accident involving mooring link failures in an offloading buoy, verification of the fatigue safety in terms of the out-of-plane bending (OPB) and in-plane bending (IPB) moments has become a key engineering item in the design of various floating offshore units. The mooring links for an 8 MW floating offshore wind turbine were selected for this study. To identify the OPB stiffness (OPB moment versus interlink angle), a numerical simulation model, called the 3-link model, is usually composed of three successive chain links closest to the fairlead or chain hawse. This paper introduces two numerical simulation techniques for the 3-link analyses. The conventional and advanced approaches are both based on the prescribed rotation approach (PRA) and direct tension approach (DTA). Comparisons of the nominal stress distributions, OPB stiffnesses, hotspot stress curves, and stress concentration curves are presented. The multiple link analyses used to identify the tension angle versus interlink angle require the OPB stiffness data from the 3-link analyses. A convergence study was conducted to determine the minimum number of links for a multi-link analysis. It was proven that 10 links were sufficient for the multi-link analysis. The tension angle versus interlink angle relations are presented based on multi-link analyses with 10 links. It was found that the subsequent results varied significantly according to the 3-link analysis techniques.

인장력을 받는 확대머리 이형철근의 겹침이음에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Lap Splice of Headed Deformed Reinforcing Bars in Tension)

  • 현행 콘크리트구조기준 (KCI2012) 및 ACI318-11에서 B급이음된 일자형 이형철근에 대하여 인장력에 대한 겹침이음길이를 정착길이의 1.3배로 산정하고 있다. 동일 기준에서 확대머리 이형철근의 정착길이를 제시하고 있지만 겹침이음상세에 대한 규정은 없다. 이에 본 연구에서는 400MPa과 500MPa 설계기준항복강도를 가지는 확대머리 이형철근의 겹침이음실험을 실시함으로써, 기준의 정착길이식을 겹침이음설계에 적용가능한 지를 평가하고자 하였다. 실험결과, SD400과 SD500의 설계기준항복강도를 적용한 확대머리 이형철근에 대하여 겹침이음길이를 정착길이의 1.3배로 산정할 경우, 실험 최대휨강도가 공칭휨강도에 비하여 16~31% 크게 평가되었고 연성적인 휨파괴 거동을 나타내었다. 따라서, 이들 철근에 대해 정착길이 1.3배의 겹침이음길이로 설계함으로써 강도 및 변형성능 측면에서 겹침이음 성능을 확보할 수 있는 것으로 사료된다.

하이브리드 휨 보강 고강도 콘크리트 보의 성능 평가 (Behavior of High Strength Concrete Beams with Hybrid Flexural Reinforcements)

  • 철근으로 휨 보강된 일반적인 부재의 경우, 강도설계법으로 부재의 공칭 휨 강도를 계산할 때 모든 휨 인장 철근은 극한상태에서 항복한다고 가정한다. 따라서 인장력은 철근의 도심에 작용하고 인장 철근 단면적과 철근의 항복강도의 곱으로 표현될 수 있다. 그러나 FRP bar는 철근과 달리 항복거동을 보이지 않기 때문에 각 열 FRP bar에 작용하는 응력은 중립축에서 떨어진 거리에 따라 달라질 것이다. 게다가 서로 다른 종류의 FRP bar가 동시에 한 부재에 적용된다면, 각 FRP bar의 변형률에 따라 작용하는 응력 또한 다양하게 될 것이고, 거동 양상 역시 예상과 다르게 나타날 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 일반철근, CFRP bar, GFRP bar를 이용하여 하이브리드 휨 보강된 6개의 고강도 콘크리트 보를 제작하고 구조실험을 실시하였다. 실험 결과 하이브리드 보강된 부재는 FRP bar로 단순 보강된 부재의 낮은 강성, 큰 균열폭, 취성 문제를 상당히 보완시켜주는 것으로 나타났다.

Flash Butt 용접부의 파괴거동에 관한 실험적 연구(I) (An Experimental Study on the Fracture Behavior for Flash Butt Welding Zone)

  • Objective of this research is to evaluate fracture behaviors of fresh-butt welded metal by the acoustic emission technique. The specimens used are medium carbon steel(SM45C), mild steel (SS41) and stainless steel(SUS304), which have different weldability. The similar welding and dissimilar welding processes are considered, in the former SM45C, SS41 and SUS304 are used, in the later the following metals are used SM45C and SS41, SM45C and SUS304 and SS41 and SUS304. The characteristics of fracture in weld metal are eshmated by the tension test with nominal speciemns, the fracture toughness test with compact tension specimens and fractography analysis. The results of tension test show for base metals and similar welding materials that the yield strength and ultimate strength of similar welding materials are increased, the elongation of those are decreased. The weldability of SUS304 is better than that of SM45C and SS41 In similar welding materials. Mechanical properties of dissimilar welding mateiiths we lower than those of similar welding materials. In dissimilar welding materials, the weldability of SM45C and SUS304 is better than that of SM45C and SS41, and also weidability of SS41 and SUS304 is better than SS41 and SM45C. Comparing mechanical properties with AE counts, it is found that AE conuts appeared on a small before the limit load of elasticity(P$_{e}$), and apper greatly near yield strength region in tension test. These results could contribute to the safety analyses and the evaluation of strength for welding structure.e.

Robotized Filament Winding of Full Section Parts: Comparison Between Two Winding Trajectory Planning Rules

  • Robotized filament winding technology involves a robot that winds a roving impregnated by resin on a die along the directions of stresses to which the work-piece is submitted in applications. The robot moves a deposition head along a winding trajectory in order to deposit roving. The trajectory planning is a very critical aspect of robotized filament winding technology, since it is responsible for both the tension constancy and the winding time. The present work shows two original rules to plan the winding trajectory of structural parts, whose shape is obtained by sweeping a full section around a 3D curve that must be closed and not crossing in order to assure a continuous winding. The first rule plans the winding trajectory by approximating the part 3D shape with straight lines; it is called the discretized rule. The second rule defines the winding trajectory simply by offsetting a 3D curve that reproduces the part 3D shape, of a defined distance; it is called the offset rule. The two rules have been compared in terms of roving tension and winding time. The present work shows how the offset rule enables achievement of both the required aims: to manufacture parts of high structural performances by keeping the tension on the roving near to the nominal value and to markedly decrease the winding time. This is the first step towards the optimization of the robotized filament winding technology.

Study on Mooring System Design of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine in Jeju Offshore Area

  • This paper presents a mooring design procedure for a floating offshore wind turbine. Offshore environmental data for Jeju are taken from KHOA (Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration) and used for the environmental conditions in numerical analyses. A semi-submersible-type floating wind system with a 5-MW-class wind turbine studied by the DeepCwind Consortium is applied. Catenary mooring with a studless chain is chosen as the mooring system. Design deliverables such as the nominal sizes of chain and length of the mooring line are decided by considering the long-term prediction of the breaking strength of the mooring lines where a 100-year return period is used. The designed mooring system is verified using a fatigue calculation based on rain-flow cycle counting, an S-N curve, and a Miner's damage summation of rule. The mooring tension process is obtained from time-domain motion analyses using ANSYS/AQWA.

  • 본 연구에서는 이러한 점에도 역점을 두어서 초기 피로균열의 발생.거동을 관 찰하기 쉬운 연강을 선택하여 편진인장반복하중을 작용시켜, 연강 평골재의 표면상에 발생.성장하는 미소표면균열의 거동을 전자현미경과 광학현미경을 병용하여 표면과 파 단면을 입체적으로 조사하여, 피로균열의 초기발생상태를 조사하고, 그 성장율을 조사 하여 파괴역학적으로 해석하여 그 특성을 조사한다.
