Psenes maculatus and P. cyanophrys of family Nomeidae were collected for the first time off the coast of Tongyeong, Kyongsangnam-do, Korea. Specimens were catched with drifting seaweed patches on June and July, 1998. Young Psenes maculatus has six black bands ('<' shape) on the body, and 'Ttimul-reung-dom' is proposed as the Korean name. Psenes cyanophrys differs from P. pellucidus in having a compressed oval body shape scales on the check, and 16 longitudinal lines on the body. 'Jul-mu-nui-mul-reung-dom' is proposed as the Korean name.

Psenes arafurensis, belonging to the family Nomeidae, is described based on four specimens (184.8-199.0 mm in standard length) collected from Korea. The species is most similar to the congeneric species P. maculatus and P. pellucidus, but differs from them in the number of lateral-line scales. (44-47 in P. arafurensis vs 67-70 in P. maculatus and 120 in P. pellucidus) and the number of vertebrae (31 in P. arafurensis vs 34-38 in P. maculatus and 40-42 in P. pellucidus). The present study is a new record of P. arafurensis with voucher specimens from Korean waters.

A new record of Nomeus gronovii is described here based on a single specimen collected off the Jeju Island, Korea. The species has a blotched and spotted pattern on the body, 41 vertebrae, and a large pectoral fin with a white lower part. A molecular analysis of the partial (500 bp) cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene showed that this specimen is closely related to specimens of N. gronovii collected in South Africa (Kimura-two-parameter distance = 0.006-0.012). A new Korean name, "Ga-neun-dong-gang-yeon-chi", is proposed for this species.
