In this paper, we propose a stroke matching method for the off-line recognition of handprinted Hangul. In this method, the preprocessing steps such as position normalization, contour tracing and thinning are carried out first. Then, after extracting features such as the firection component distribution of contour, the direction component distribution of skeleton, and the distribution of structural feature points, strokes are extracted and matched based on the midpont distribution of the direction and the length of each stroke. In order to reduce the recognition time, a preliminary classification based on the direction component distribution features of the contour is performed. In order to domonstrate the performance of the proposed method, experiments with 520 most frequently used Hangul were performed, and 90.7% of correct recognition rate and 0.46second of recognition time per one character has been obtained. This results reveal that the proposed method can absorb effectively the noise in input character and the variations of stroke slant.

This paper presents a translation, rotation and scale invariant methodology for the recognition of closed planar shape images using the bispectrum of a contour sequence and the learning vector quantization(LVQ) neural classifier. The contour sequences obtained from the closed planar images represent the Euclidean distance between the centroid and all boundary pixels of the shape, and are related to the overall shape of the images. The higher order spectra based on third order cumulants is applied to tihs contour sample to extract fifteen bispectral feature vectors for each planar image. There feature vector, which are invariant to shape translation, rotation and scale transformation, can be used to represent two0dimensional planar images and are fed into a neural network classifier. The LVQ architecture is chosen as a neural classifier because the network is easy and fast to train, the structure is relatively simple. The experimental recognition processes with eight different hapes of aircraft images are presented to illustrate the high performance of this proposed method even the target images are significantly corrupted by noise.
The cut is placed high up in the section, the 1st sloping holes below the cut, and divided all the holes located below the 1st sloping holes into a certain area with longitudinal section, to lower pollution made from tunnel blasting. With the sequential blasting machine, after I first blasted holes around the cut holes by a pre-splitting method, blasted the cut area and the 1st sloping holes. The 1st and 2nd sloping holes divided areas are initiated gradually to free face upwards made by the cut. Especially, I pre-splinted contour holes previous blast the before sloping holes from the contours. The ground vibration from the earth surface just over the advance face decreased about 42.0% compare with the down blasting method under the condition of equal charge weight per delay. I controlled the crack and over break of the mother rock by pre-splitting contour holes before blast the first sloping holes from the contours. The peak values of noise and air blast by blasting decreased about 10dB more than the down blasting method. the noise and air blast diminished gradually as a round. The throw distance of the fly rock was decreased about 55%.

Electronic speckle contouring(ESC) is the optical method for measuring shape by using fringe-projection techniques in electronic speckle pattern interferometry. It has the advantage of being non-contacting and can also give a field view of the surface under investigation. Fringes in ESC represent the difference in depth along the view direction between the master wavefront and the test component. The contour maps of three-dimensional diffuse objects are obtained by small shifts of optical fiber carrying the dual-object-beams and 4-frame phase shift. We proposed the contouring method by shifting the collimated illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. And also, we performed addition of incremental addition of images and experiments based on it. we obtained both quantitative increment without decorrelation effect and qualitative improvement by reducing the noise of contour fringes.
Prostate cancer is one of the most frequent cancers in men and is a major cause of mortality in the most of countries. In many diagnostic and treatment procedures for prostate disease accurate detection of prostate boundaries in transrectal ultrasound(TRUS) images is required. This is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noise and the short range of gray levels. In this paper a method for automatic prostate segmentation in TRUS images using Gabor feature extraction and snake-like contour is presented. This method involves preprocessing, extracting Gabor feature, training, and prostate segmentation. The speckle reduction for preprocessing step has been achieved by using stick filter and top-hat transform has been implemented for smoothing the contour. A Gabor filter bank for extraction of rotation-invariant texture features has been implemented. A support vector machine(SVM) for training step has been used to get each feature of prostate and nonprostate. Finally, the boundary of prostate is extracted by the snake-like contour algorithm. A number of experiments are conducted to validate this method and results showed that this new algorithm extracted the prostate boundary with less than 10.2% of the accuracy which is relative to boundary provided manually by experts.

In this paper, an automatic extraction of the blood flow contour from cardiac MRI is proposed. By using the GVF snake which has wider capture range than the conventional snake, and by automatically generating the initial points along the outside of the contour of the zero GVF field in the edge image of the cardiac MRI, the blood flow contour can be automatically extracted, even when the contours have boundary concavities due to the papillary muscles, without any manual initialization of the experts. Experiments are conducted on the various real cardiac MRIs including noise and papillary muscles, and the proposed method is proved to be efficient in automatic extraction of the blood contours even if they have the boundary concavities.

This paper presents an image segmentation algorithm to obtain the 3D body shape data that the grid pattern and the body contour lute in the background image are extracted using the new proposed hybrid method. The body contour line is extracted based on maximum biased anisotropic recognition(MaxBAR) algorithm which recognizes the most strong and robust edges in the image since the normal derivative at the edges is large, while the tangential derivatives can be small. The grid patterns within body contour lines are extracted by grid pattern detection (GPD). The body contour lilies and the grid patterns are combined. The consecutive run test based on heuristic method is used to link the disconnected line and reduce noise line. This proposed segmentation method is more effective than the conventional method which uses a gradient and a laplacian operator, verified with application two conventional method.

Energized power transformers in substations make unwelcome noises which propagate to nearby residential areas. As the excessive noise level become a target of public grievance than ever, utilities are seeking solutions to it. This paper introduce a power transformer noise prediction program which can give utilities effective solutions. Once a noise source is given, the program calculates the propagated noise level at certain points. The estimated result is rendered as noise contour map. To validate the accuracy of the program, the predicted noises are compared to measured one in real substations and proven to be acceptable within a margin of 5 percent.
Airplane noise become a serious problem today. Using the noise patterns at KIMPO and CHEJU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS, the impact area of noise for the newly planned international airport was predicted. Contours for noise level were made by a plotter based on WECPNL estimated by a computer program with basic noise data for FAA requirement. The result was also compared with the noise control level abroad.

It is an essential element for the establishment of image processing related systems to find the exact contour from the image of an arbitrary object. In particular, if a vision system is established to inspect the products in the automated production process, it is very important to detect the contours for standardized shapes such lines and curves. In this paper, we propose a prototype adaptive dynamic contour model, p-Snake with improved contour extraction algorithms by adding the prototype energy. The proposed method is to find the initial contour by applying the existing Snake algorithm after Sobel operation is performed for prototype analysis. Next, the final contour of the object is detected by analyzing prototypes such as lines and circles, defining prototype energy and using it as an additional energy item in the existing Snake function on the basis of information on initial contour. We performed experiments on 340 images obtained by using an environment that duplicated the background of an industrial site. It was found that even if objects are not clearly distinguished from the background due to noise and lighting or the edges being insufficiently visible in the images, the contour can be extracted. In addition, in the case of similarity which is the measure representing how much it matches the prototype, the prototype similarity of contour extracted from the proposed p-ACM is superior to that of ACM by 9.85%.
