Recently, many industries are using three dimensional scanning technology. As the performance of the 3D scanner gradually improves, a sampling step to reduce a point data or a remove step to remove a part determined to be noise are generally performed in post processing. However, total point data by long time scanning cannot be processed at once in spite of performing such those additional processes. In general, a method using a multi threaded environment is widely used, but as the scanning process work time increases, the processing performance gradually decreases due to various environmental conditions and accumulated operations. This paper proposes a method to initially remove point data judged to be unnecessary by calculating accumulated fast point feature histogram values from coming point data of the 3D scanner in real time. The entire 3D scanning process can be reduced using this approach.
Recently, large and diverse weather data are being collected by sensors from various sources. Efforts to predict the concentration of fine dust through machine learning are being made everywhere, and this study intends to compare PM10 and PM2.5 prediction models using data from 840 outdoor air meters installed throughout the city. Information can be provided in real time by predicting the concentration of fine dust after 5 minutes, and can be the basis for model development after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, and 1 hour. Data preprocessing was performed, such as noise removal and missing value replacement, and a derived variable that considers temporal and spatial variables was created. The parameters of the model were selected through the response surface method. XGBoost, Random Forest, and Deep Learning (Multilayer Perceptron) are used as predictive models to check the difference between fine dust concentration and predicted values, and to compare the performance between models.

There have been numerous studies on extracting the R-peak from electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. However, most of the detection methods are complicated to implement in a real-time portable electrocardiograph device and have the disadvantage of requiring a large amount of calculations. R-peak detection requires pre-processing and post-processing related to baseline drift and the removal of noise from the commercial power supply for ECG data. An adaptive filter technique is widely used for R-peak detection, but the R-peak value cannot be detected when the input is lower than a threshold value. Moreover, there is a problem in detecting the P-peak and T-peak values due to the derivation of an erroneous threshold value as a result of noise. We propose a robust R-peak detection algorithm with low complexity and simple computation to solve these problems. The proposed scheme removes the baseline drift in ECG signals using an adaptive filter to solve the problems involved in threshold extraction. We also propose a technique to extract the appropriate threshold value automatically using the minimum and maximum values of the filtered ECG signal. To detect the R-peak from the ECG signal, we propose a threshold neighborhood search technique. Through experiments, we confirmed the improvement of the R-peak detection accuracy of the proposed method and achieved a detection speed that is suitable for a mobile system by reducing the amount of calculation. The experimental results show that the heart rate detection accuracy and sensitivity were very high (about 100%).

Due to the characteristics of microwave signals, Radar satellite image has been used for flood detection without weather and time influence. The more methods of flood detection were developed, the more detection rate of flood area has been increased. Since flood causes a lot of damages, flooded area should be distinguished from non flooded area. Also, the detection of flood area should be accurate. Therefore, not only image resolution but also the filtering process is critical to minimize resolution degradation. Although a resolution of radar images become better as technology develops, there were a limited focused on a highly suitable filtering methods for flood detection. Thus, the purpose of this study is to find out the most appropriate filtering method for flood detection by comparing three filtering methods: Lee filter, Frost filter and NL-means filter. Therefore, to compare the filters to detect floods, each filters are applied to the radar image. Comparison was drawn among filtered images. Then, the flood map, results of filtered images are compared in that order. As a result, Frost and NL-means filter are more effective in removing the speckle noise compared to Lee filter. In case of Frost filter, resolution degradation occurred severly during removal of the noise. In case of NL-means filter, shadow effect which could be one of the main reasons that causes false detection were not eliminated comparing to other filters. Nevertheless, result of NL-means filter shows the best detection rate because the number of shadow pixels is relatively low in entire image. Kappa coefficient is scored 0.81 for NL-means filtered image and 0.55, 0.64 and 0.74 follows for non filtered image, Lee filtered image and Frost filtered image respectively. Also, in the process of NL-means filter, speckle noise could be removed without resolution degradation. Accordingly, flooded area could be distinguished effectively from other area in NL-means filtered image.

Detecting the features of significant patterns from their own historical data is so much crucial to good performance specially in time-series forecasting. Recently, a new data filtering method (or multi-scale decomposition) such as wavelet analysis is considered more useful for handling the time-series that contain strong quasi-cyclical components than other methods. The reason is that wavelet analysis theoretically makes much better local information according to different time intervals from the filtered data. Wavelets can process information effectively at different scales. This implies inherent support fer multiresolution analysis, which correlates with time series that exhibit self-similar behavior across different time scales. The specific local properties of wavelets can for example be particularly useful to describe signals with sharp spiky, discontinuous or fractal structure in financial markets based on chaos theory and also allows the removal of noise-dependent high frequencies, while conserving the signal bearing high frequency terms of the signal. To date, the existing studies related to wavelet analysis are increasingly being applied to many different fields. In this study, we focus on several wavelet thresholding criteria or techniques to support multi-signal decomposition methods for financial time series forecasting and apply to forecast Korean Won / U.S. Dollar currency market as a case study. One of the most important problems that has to be solved with the application of the filtering is the correct choice of the filter types and the filter parameters. If the threshold is too small or too large then the wavelet shrinkage estimator will tend to overfit or underfit the data. It is often selected arbitrarily or by adopting a certain theoretical or statistical criteria. Recently, new and versatile techniques have been introduced related to that problem. Our study is to analyze thresholding or filtering methods based on wavelet analysis that use multi-signal decomposition algorithms within the neural network architectures specially in complex financial markets. Secondly, through the comparison with different filtering techniques' results we introduce the present different filtering criteria of wavelet analysis to support the neural network learning optimization and analyze the critical issues related to the optimal filter design problems in wavelet analysis. That is, those issues include finding the optimal filter parameter to extract significant input features for the forecasting model. Finally, from existing theory or experimental viewpoint concerning the criteria of wavelets thresholding parameters we propose the design of the optimal wavelet for representing a given signal useful in forecasting models, specially a well known neural network models.
In this paper, we present a real-time hand pose recognition method to provide an intuitive user interface through hand poses or movements without a keyboard and a mouse. For this, the areas of right and left hands are segmented from the depth camera image, and noise removal is performed. Then, the rotation angle and the centroid point of each hand area are calculated. Subsequently, a circle is expanded at regular intervals from a centroid point of the hand to detect joint points and end points of the finger by obtaining the midway points of the hand boundary crossing. Lastly, the matching between the hand information calculated previously and the hand model of previous frame is performed, and the hand model is recognized to update the hand model for the next frame. This method enables users to predict the hidden fingers through the hand model information of the previous frame using temporal coherence in consecutive frames. As a result of the experiment on various hand poses with the hidden fingers using both hands, the accuracy showed over 95% and the performance indicated over 32 fps. The proposed method can be used as a contactless input interface in presentation, advertisement, education, and game applications.

Vehicle to Infrastructure(V2I) communication means the technology between the vehicle and the roadside unit to provide the Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) and Telematic services. The vehicle collects information about the probe data through the evolved Node B(eNodeB) and after that eNodeB provides road conditions or traffic information to the vehicle. To provide these V2I communication services, we need a link adaptation technology that enables reliable and higher transmission rate. The receiver transmits the estimated Channel State Information(CSI) to transmitter, which uses this information to enable the link adaptation. However, due to the rapid channel variation caused by vehicle speed and the processing delay between the layers, the estimated CSI quickly becomes outdated. For this reason, channel interpolation and prediction scheme are needed to achieve link adaptation in V2I communication system. We propose the Advanced Discrete Prolate Spheroidal Sequence(ADPSS) channel interpolation and prediction scheme. The proposed scheme creates an orthonomal basis, and uses a correlation matrix to interpolate and predict channel. Also, smoothing is applied to frequency domain for noise removal. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms conventional schemes with the high speed and low speed vehicle in the freeway and urban environment.

In this study, a device was developed for diagnosing depression using EEG signals from July 2016 to June 2017. For normal people, the left alpha rhythm is more activated than the right alpha rhythm, but for the depressed patients, the right alpha rhythm is more activated than the left one. An analog circuit and digital low pass filter were used for noise removal and amplification of EEG, and the Hamming window function was applied to eliminate the signal leakage generated by the fast Fourier transform. To verify the validity of the developed diagnosis system, the EEG of 20 university students in the 3rd and 4th grade with an average age of 24 years was measured. Calculations of the relative value of the left and right alpha rhythm for the depression diagnosis revealed a minimum, maximum, and mean value of 66.7, 113.3, and 92.2, respectively. In addition, 7 out of 20 subjects were between 90 and 95, and those with a higher mean deviation of approximately 20 tended to have mild depression. These results can provide meaningful data for the development of depression treatment equipment by solving the left and right brain asymmetry problem, and it may be applied usefully to diagnose depression after clinical trials on a large number of depressed patients.
For more reliable estimation of seismic source, attenuation properties and dynamic ground property, site amplification function should be considered. Among various estimation methods, this study used the Nakamura's method (1989) for estimating site amplification characteristics. This method was originally applied to the surface waves of background noise and therefore there are some limitations in applying to general wave energy. However, recently this method has been extended and applied to the S wave energy successfully. This study applied the method to S wave and Coda wave energy, which is equivalent to the backscattered S wave energy. We used more than 60 observed ground motions from 5 earthquakes which were occurred recently, with magnitude range from 3.6 to 5.1. Each station showed characteristic site amplification property in low-, high- and resonance frequencies. Some of the stations showed as high as 4 times of site amplification in the range of specific frequencies, which may imply abnormal small scale geologic strata below the station or development of various trapped modes in the basin structure. Moreover, removal of site amplification can give us more reliable seismic source and attenuation parameters, addition to the seismic hazard estimation.
