One of the most important elements in satellite attitude control is sensor technology. Generally, inertial sensors introduce drift and noise which cause continuous errors. Absolute reference is needed to eliminate the problem of the inertial sensors. Star trackers are used primarily for such a purpose. There has been relatively less research effort or ground feasibility test experience on star trackers in the domestic side despite the importance of the associated technologies. In this paper, we re-introduce the basic concept of a star tracker and present the S/W simulator for the star tracker. The star simulator may be used ground test of a star tracker for the basic functioning test or the whole spacecraft test with the star tracker assembled.

Objectives: Much scientific evidence indicate a positive association between moldy environments and respiratory illnesses and/or symptoms. However, few comprehensive assessments of mold have been performed for such settings. Spore counts or microscopic enumeration only may not be sufficient for evaluating fungal exposure. Recently, Mold Specific QPCR technology developed by the US EPA (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index, ERMI) has been widely used worldwide and great performance for assessing fungal exposure has been shown. Methods: We aimed to develop a Korean version of ERMI suitable for the distribution of fungal flora in Korea. Thirty dwellings in the Seoul and Incheon area were selected for sampling, and each was classified as 'Flooded, 'Water-damaged' or 'Non-water-damaged'. Results: Dust on the floor and airborne sampling were collected using an MAS100 and a 'Dustream' collector. Samples were analyzed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(QPCR) for the 36 molds belonging to ERMI. Student t-test and ANOVA tests were carried out using SAS software. The median ERMI values of flooded, water damaged, and non-water damaged dwellings were 8.24(range: -5.6 to 27.9), 5.47(-25. 4 to 32.7), and -15.30(-24.6 to 14.8), respectively. Significant differences were observed between flooded and non-water damaged dwellings (P=0.001) and between water-damaged and non-water damaged dwellings (P=0.032). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that ERMI values attributed to dust samples in Korea could be applicable for the identification of flooded or water damaged buildings. However, much data is needed for continuously developing the Korean version of ERMI values.

Iris recognition for biometric personnel identification has gained much interest owing to the increasing concern with security today. The image quality plays a major role in the performance of iris recognition systems. When capturing an iris image under uncontrolled conditions and dealing with non-cooperative people, the chance of getting non-ideal images is very high owing to poor focus, off-angle, noise, motion blur, occlusion of eyelashes and eyelids, and wearing glasses. In order to improve the accuracy of iris recognition while dealing with non-ideal iris images, we propose a novel algorithm that improves the quality of degraded iris images. First, the iris image is localized properly to obtain accurate iris boundary detection, and then the iris image is normalized to obtain a fixed size. Second, the valid region (iris region) is extracted from the segmented iris image to obtain only the iris region. Third, to get a well-distributed texture image, bilinear interpolation is used on the segmented valid iris gray image. Using contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) enhances the low contrast of the resulting interpolated image. The results of CLAHE are further improved by stretching the maximum and minimum values to 0-255 by using histogram-stretching technique. The gray texture information is extracted by 1D Gabor filters while the Hamming distance technique is chosen as a metric for recognition. The NICE-II training dataset taken from UBRIS.v2 was used for the experiment. Results of the proposed method outperformed other methods in terms of equal error rate (EER).
This paper describes the experimental study for the position estimation method of underwater sound source using the Nearfield Acoustic Holography. The result confirms that it can be used in the identification of underwater noise sources. The sound sources in the experimental work consists of 2 spherical projectors and the near-Held sound pressure is measured in the hologram plane. From the cross-power spectra of the measured data, the complex sound pressures on the hologram plane is derived and its spatial transformation gives sound fields in a source region. The obtained sound fields in a source region showed that the position of each sound source and their relative source strength are exactly estimated. In conclusion, this technique can be applied for estimation of each source position and its relative strength contribution for the underwater multiple sound sources.
Fingerprint recognition is concerned with fingerprint acquisition and matching. Our research was focused on a fingerprint matching method using an inkless fingerprint input sensor at the fingerprint acquisition step. Since an inkless fingerprint sensor produces a digital-image-processed fingerprint image, we did not consider noise that can happen while acquiring the fingerprint. And making the user attempt fingerprint input as random, we considered image distortion that translation and rotation are included as complex. NJTC algorithm is used for fingerprint identification and verification. The method to find the center of the fingerprint is added in the NJTC algorithm to supplement discrimination of fingerprint recognition. From this center point, we decided the optimum cropping size for effective matching with pixels and demonstrated that the proposed method has high discrimination and high efficiency.
The output image of the uncooled thermal infrared camera is difficult the identification of target because of the limited dynamic range and the various noises. Retinex algorithm based on the theory of the human visual perception is known to be effective contrast enhancement technique. However, the image quality is insufficient when it is adopted to the narrow dynamic range image as the infrared image. In this paper, we propose the revised retinex algorithm to enhance the contrast of the infrared image. To improve the contrast enhancement performance, we designed the new dynamic range compression function instead of log function. To reduce the noise and compensate the loss of edge, we added the contrast compensation procedure in the MSR image generation process. According to the output picture comparing and numerical analysis, the proposed algorithm shows the better contrast enhancement performance and the more suitable method for the infrared image enhancement.

In this research, robustness of image watermarking mixed Key and Logo scheme was evaluated. A personal ID of a copyrighter was key and watermark was logo image. The standard images of Baboon, Cameraman and Lena were used for experimental images, binary image‘Park’of 32$\times$32 and 64$\times$64 size were used for the watermark image, respectively. for robustness evaluation of the watermark, reconstructive rates of the watermark were obtained from images inserted watermark with image transformation or JPEG lossy compression. The experimental results show that the reconstructive rates of the case of 32$\times$32 watermark was better than the case of the 64$\times$64 watermark; average 5.9%, 13.9%, 6.5%, and 4.2% in the case of scale-down rates, rotational rates, impulse noise power density, and JPEG lossy compression rates, respectively.

In this paper, using the indoor LED-ID communication system have researched for how to transmit video signals. In LED-ID communications use the LEDs for lighting features at the same time communication is an effective way to implement. This proposed system using Visible light(RGB) as way to transmit signals, depends on the mixture RGB, which decided the color of light, moreover, each things determined their performance. However, if the video signal were fixed allocated RGB to transmit such as the original system, the importance of the each signals a different occur the limit on the quality of the video than SVC signals. In order to solve this problem in this paper, according to the RGB mixture ratios analyze the performance for the White LED, which analyzed based on allocating the SVC signal by transmitting to improve the quality of the video was about how researched.

The modal strain energy method is one of the efficient methods for detecting damage in the structures. Due to existing some limitations in real-world structures, sensors can only be located on a limited number of degrees of freedom (DOFs) of a structure. Therefore, the mode shape values in all DOFs of structures cannot be measured. In this paper, a modified modal strain energy based index (MMSEBI) is introduced to locate damaged elements of structures when a limited number of sensors are used. The proposed MMSEBI is based on the reconstruction of mode shapes using Improved Reduction System (IRS) method. Therefore, in the first step by employing IRS method, mode shapes in slave degrees of freedom are estimated by those of master degrees of freedom. In the second step, the proposed MMSEBI is used to located damage elements. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method, two numerical examples are considered under different damage patterns considering the measurement noise. Moreover, the universal threshold based on statistical hypothesis testing principles is applied to damage index values. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed MMSEBI for the structural damage localization when comparing with the available damage index named MESBI. The results demonstrate that the presented method can be used as a practical strategy for structural damage identification, especially when a limited number of sensors are installed on the structure. Finally, the combination of MMSEBI and IRS method can provide a reliable tool to identify the location of damage accurately.
Location positioning systems are available in applications such as mobile, robotic tracking systems and Wireless location-based service (LBS) applications. The GPS system is the most well-known location tracking system, but it is not easy to use indoors. The method of radio frequency identification (RFID) location tracking was studied in terms of cost-effectiveness for indoor location tracking systems. Most RFID systems use active RFID tags using expendable batteries, but in this paper, an inexpensive indoor location tracking system using passive RFID tags has been developed. A pattern matching method and a system for tracing location by generating regression curves were studied to use precision tracking algorithms. The system was tested by verifying the level of error caused by noise. The three-dimensional curves are produced by the regression equation estimated the statistically meaningful coordinates by the differential equation. The proposed system could also be applied to mobile robot systems, AGVs and mobile phone LBSs.
