Information is lacking about the effect of date of a fall cut of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) on dry matter yield (DMY), forage nutritive value, and stands persistence. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of timing of a fall cut on DMY, forage nutritive value and stand persistence of three alfalfa varieties: low-lignin Hi-Gest 360, Roundup Ready Tonica, and conventional Gunner in Northeastern Kansas in the United States. The field study was carried out by splitting plot in randomized complete block design with four replications. The harvesting data of different maturity stages were collected in each year from 2015 to 2018. Three cuts were harvested based on the stage of maturity, and the last (fourth) cut was done on September 15, September 30, October 15, and October 30 of each year. The persistence of the alfalfa stands was determined each fall after the last cut, and each spring after the first cut, by counting the number of live plants in a randomly placed quadrat in each plot. Alfalfa cut on September 15 and September 30 had a higher stand persistence compared to alfalfa cut on October 15 and October 30. The DMY of the first cut in 2016 was significantly higher in roundup ready than the low-lignin alfalfa variety. In the second cut, DMY was significantly higher in conventional alfalfa than the roundup ready. There were no significant differences in DMY between alfalfa varieties in the rest of seasonal cuttings in 2016 and 2017 and annual total yield in both years. In general, low lignin alfalfa variety had higher crude protein and relative feed value and lower acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber contents than those in roundup ready and conventional alfalfa varieties. On average, nutritive value of alfalfa was generally affected by last cutting dates in 2017. Based on 3-year data the last cutting of alfalfa in the fall could be done by September 30-October 15 without harmful effect on DMY.
The purpose of this study is to apply fundamental data of impression formation research by analysing and observing the various facial image that can be effected from hair style as well as be helpful for choosing suitable hair style for T.P.O in modern society. This study targeted 305 college women in Daegu and Gyung-book area. Hair Style Image Scale(HSIS)was used the scale of seven point modified the S-D(Semantic Differential) method. The analysis of impression formation effect of hair style using SPSS WIN package have completed from the principal component analysis by Varimax perpendicular rotation method and ANOVA was used to recognize the difference in impression formation according to hair style change. In the case of statistical difference was appeared, LSD post-verification was applied for that. The conclusions of this study is as followed ; 1. The factors of impression formation effected by hair style were classified as goodwill factor, refinement factor, elegance factor and individuality factor. 2. In terms of goodwill factor, long hair style showed highest level and short cut hair, bobbed hair in an order. In refinement factor, there was no difference between short cut hair and bobbed hair and both of them was higher than long hair. In elegance factor, long hair was highest and bobbed hair was lowest. In individuality factor, short cut hair and bobbed hair higher than long hair and no difference between short cut hair and bobbed hair.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different sanitizers and contact times on storage quality and microbial growth in fresh-cut broccoli. Fresh broccoli samples were cut into small pieces, washed each for 90 s and 180 s in normal tap water (TW), $100\;{\mu}/l$ chlorinated water (CL, pH 7), electrolyzed water (EW, pH 7.2) containing $100\;{\mu}/l$ free chlorine, or $2\;{\mu}/l$ ozonated water ($O_3$). Then, samples were packaged in 30-${\mu}m$ polyethylene bags and stored at $5^{\circ}C$ for 9 days. No significant differences were observed in gas composition and color parameters ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, and hue angle) among different sanitizers with contact times. No off-odor was detected during the storage. A longer contact time was not effective in reducing microbial population, except with $O_3$ washing. $O_3$ with 90 s was not much effective in reducing microbial population compared with Cl or EW. However, samples washed with $O_3$ for 180 s observed the lowest numbers of total aerobic and coliform plate counts. The result suggested that, a longer contact time of ozone can be used as a potential sanitizer to maintain the microbial quality and safety of fresh-cut broccoli.
This study was conducted to investigate optimal harvesting stage and the effects on cut roses of Korean cultivar harvested at different stages. Cut roses are harvested at three different flowering stages. The optimal harvesting stage of cut roses was different depending on varieties. The vase life of standard type 'Pink Song' and spray type 'Peace One' was extended when they were harvested in one and three stages, respectively. The vase life was generally increased when the cut roses were pretreated with a solution containing 2% sucrose + $200mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ aluminum sulfate + $200mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$$Mg(NO_3)_2$ + $50mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$$CaCl_2$ as compared to the control regardless of the harvesting stage. And this pretreatment solution improved the flower quality of cut roses bred in Korea. But the effects of pretreatment were varied depending on the harvesting stage.
This study was conducted to develop the regulating methods for the optimal harvest stage of new sprout for woody plants, and to clarify the effects of storage condition and period on the growth of new sprout formed of Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang'. Japanese angelica tree were collected in the Jangheung district of Jeonnam on 20. March, 2005, and those cut branches were stored at $5{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ and 80 to 90% of the relative humidity, and were cut in water. Survival rate of cut branches for Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang' was significantly increased when that was used for the cutting after the collection with no storage. And those survival rate was much more increased when that was stored at 80 to 90% of relative humidity than 40 to 50% of relative humidity. Number of new sprouts formed which were not stored immediately after the collection 3.2 to 3.4, and that were stored at cold storage room before cutting and cut on 1. June and 1. August were 5.1 to 5.3. Leaf growth of cut branches cut in water on 20. March started at ten days after cutting, and that on 1. June and 1. August at one to two days after cutting. Slow and mature sprout growth of Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang' which were cut in water were different by the cold storage periods. Nineteen days were needed for the mature growth of sprout when cut in water on 20. March, and thirteen days on 1. August.

At Wire Rod Mill Plant, wire is made of the billet produced at continuous casting machine, or rolled bloom produced at billeting mill, and the product can be classified of wire of 5.5${\Phi}$ and bar in coil of 14∼42${\Phi}$ in diameter(bar in coil will be referred to as coil as below). At present, wire is produced at POSCO No.1, 2, 3 WRM, coil at garret line of No. 2 WRM. Head and tail of coil are properly cut and treated to scrap to fulfill the customer's satisfaction. This above cutting is done off line, and small size coil can be cut manually with clipper, large size coil with hydraulic cutter. Nowadays, it is being investigated to cut automatically in line with trimming shear after passing mill stand. At the moment, Because the coil produced at the garret line of No.2 WRM is hot 400∼600$^{\circ}C$ and trimming is done manually with cutter, there are always interference from manual operation or safety problem of bad working condition. Not only because of the diversity of the coil size 14∼42${\Phi}$ in diameter, but because of the rolling speed 2.5∼22m/sec, it is required to be equipped with several trimming shear. But this can be accomplished with only one shear installed proper place at this paper.

In interrupted cutting, the workpiece has a groove that impacts both the cutting tool and the workpiece. Therefore, cutting tool damage occurs rapidly. In this study, I performed interrupted cutting of carbon steel for machine structures (SM20C) using an uncoated carbide tool (SNMG120404, P20), and observed tool damage, cutting chip shape, and the workpiece surface. Results: Under the specific cutting conditions of feed rate = 0.066 mm/rev, cutting speed = 120 m/min, and depth of cut = 0.1 mm; and feed rate = 0.105 mm/rev, cutting speed = 120 m/min, and depth of cut = 0.2 mm, the observed tool damage was small. Similar chip shape was observed (Expt. No. 1, 3, 7). Workpiece damage was observed (Expt. No. 3, 5, 7, 9).
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing was performed in the diagnostic immunology laboratory of the Seoul National University Hospital. Among 611 HLA-DR tests, specific bead reactions suspected of being false positive and false negative in Lot 20 reagents were found. Therefore, we aimed to identify the factors causing cut-off corrections by examining cases where cut-off corrections were not made for 533 test results and cases where cut-off corrections were made for 78 cases after the cut-off corrections of specific beads. Frequency analysis was conducted to verify the demographic characteristics, and descriptive statistics were used to assess the humidity in the laboratory as a variable. Cross-tabulation was done to examine the association between cut-off corrections and demographic characteristics. Independent samples t-tests were conducted to verify the difference in humidity based on cut-off corrections. Finally, logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between humidity levels and the rate of cut-off corrections, and results showed as the humidity level in the laboratory highs, the number of cut-off corrections decreased by a factor of 0.986. This suggests cut-off corrections rate increases when the humidity lowers. Therefore, it indicates that humidity in the laboratory is also a factor that affects HLA typing results.
Purpose: This study aimed to assign weights for subscales and items of the Post-Intensive Care Syndrome questionnaire and suggest optimal cut-off values for screening unplanned hospital readmissions of critical care survivors. Methods: Seventeen experts participated in an analytic hierarchy process for weight assignment. Participants for cut-off analysis were 240 survivors who had been admitted to intensive care units for more than 48 hours in three cities in Korea. We assessed participants using the 18-item Post-Intensive Care Syndrome questionnaire, generated receiver operating characteristic curves, and analysed cut-off values for unplanned readmission based on sensitivity, specificity, and positive likelihood ratios. Results: Cognitive, physical, and mental subscale weights were 1.13, 0.95, and 0.92, respectively. Incidence of unplanned readmission was 25.4%. Optimal cut-off values were 23.00 for raw scores and 23.73 for weighted scores (total score 54.00), with an area of under the curve (AUC) of .933 and .929, respectively. There was no significant difference in accuracy for original and weighted scores. Conclusion: The optimal cut-off value accuracy is excellent for screening of unplanned readmissions. We recommend that nurses use the Post-Intensive Care Syndrome Questionnaire to screen for readmission risk or evaluating relevant interventions for critical care survivors.

This study was conducted in order to predict the vase life of cut lily 'Woori Tower' flowers using a non-destructive thermal imaging technique. It was found that the temperature of cut lily flowers was maintained at 20℃ and was slightly lower than the air temperature until they bloomed. On the 11th day, when flowers bloomed, the temperature of leaves and flowers was measured to be 18.75±0.38℃ and 19.23±0.32℃ respectively, and their difference with ambient temperature was over 3℃. The flower temperature increased slightly when the vase life of cut lily flowers ended, and the temperature difference between the air and leaf temperature (1.77℃) and between the air and flower temperature (1.39℃) got smaller. No visible aging symptom was observed, but it was found that the temperature had risen due to water losses and less functional stomata. The vase life of cut lily flowers can be predicted based on changes in temperature and it will be also possible to predict the potential quality and vase life of cut flowers before harvesting them in greenhouses.
