돈분뇨의 호기적 액비화 과정에서 암모니아 휘산량 평가 (Evaluation of Ammonia Emission from Liquid Pig Manure Composting System with Forced Aeration)

  • BACKGROUND: Composting is the most frequently used waste management process for animal manure in Korea's livestock industry. In the composting process, a large amount of nitrogen (N) is volatilized to the atmosphere as amonia ($NH_3$). However, quantitative information of $NH_3$ emission from composting of liquid manure is required to obtain emission factors for management of livestock manure in Korea. METHODS AND RESULTS: To evaluate the $NH_3$ emission from composting of liquid manure affected by aeration, we conducted composting of liquid pig manure with three forced aeration systems. The aeration conditions were continuous (A60), cycle of 30 min aeration and 30 min pause (A30S30) and without aeration(A0). All treatments were aerated 12 hour per day with these aeration systems. The total ratio of $NH_3$ volatilization loss to total N content in liquid manure throughout composting period was estimated to 19.9% for A0 treatment, 25.9% for A30S30 treatment and 36.3% for A60 treatment. The A30S30 and A60 aeration systems increased $NH_3$ volatilization by 30.2 and 82.3% compared with systems without forced aeration. CONCLUSION(S): Ammonia emission during liquid pig manure composting was highly affected by forced aeration. The development of liquid pig manure composting systems with forced aeration would be considered both reducing ammonia emission and efficiency of composting.

복합화력발전소 대기오염영향 평가 (Numerical Simulation of Dispersion of Air Pollutants from Combined Cycle Power Plants)

  • Modeling은 기상의 흐름, 화학반응 및 대기오염물질의 형성과정 등 대기현상을 과학적으로 이해하고 개발계획 및 대기 개선에 따른 정책수립의 기초자료로 활용된다. 최근 컴퓨팅 계산능력이 발전하면서 수치모델의 모델링 영역과 모델결과의 이용분야가 점차 다양해지고 있으며, 오염물질 발생원으로부터 시간의 흐름에 따라 오염물질농도를 예측이 가능해졌다. 본 연구는 일산열병합발전소 및 고양시 소각장 주변지역을 대상으로 CALPUFF 확산모델을 적용하여 대기 중 배출 된 NO와 TSP의 확산을 모사하고, 실제 측정결과와 비교함으로써 배출원에 의한 주변지역의 기여농도를 검토하였다. 1, 2차 $NO_2$ 기여율 비교 결과 A-3 지점이 타 지점에 비해 비교적 높게 나타났으며, 이는 열병합발전소 및 소각시설에서 배출되는 질소산화물의 영향이 타 지역에 비해 비교적 높다는 것을 알 수 있다. 1, 2차 TSP 기여율 비교 결과 A-5 지점이 비교적 타 지점에 비해 다소 높게 나타났으나, 기여율 값이 매우 낮음에 따라 열병합발전소 및 소각시설에서 배출되는 먼지에 의한 영향은 비교적 낮다고 판단된다.

압축한 도시고형폐기물의 열분해 특성 (Pyrolysis Characteristics of Compressed Municipal Solid Wastes)

  • 본 연구에서는 도시고형폐기물을 구성하는 주요한 성분중의 하나인 셀룰로오스와 플라스틱의 열분해 특성을 열중량시스템에서 조사하였다. 실험은 온도범위 400~900K에서 제 실험변수에 따라 질소분위기에서 수행하였으며, 압축한 도시고형폐기물에 적용하기 위한 수정 Arrhenius 열분해 모델을 제안하였다. 승온속도를 20, 30, 40K/min로 변화시키면서 수행한 실험에서, 도시고형폐기물을 구성하는 순수물질의 활성화에너지는 셀룰로오스계열의 경우 117~166kJ/mol, 플라스틱계열은 187~239kJ/mol이며, 반응차수는 1.1~1.9의 범위에 있었다. 압축한 도시고형폐기물은 승온속도, 압축비, 입경의 증가에 따라 char의 수율이 증가하였다. 또한 압축도시고형폐기물의 열분해 과정을 Arrhemius식과 열전달이론을 이용하여 수정 제안한 모델의 적용 결과 기존의 모델보다 실험결과와 더 잘 일치하였다.

  • We fabricated BSCCO-2212 (2212) bulk superconductor by melt casting process, and evaluated the dependence of the critical properties on the temperature and cooling .ate of mold and the pouring methods of melt. It was observed that the critical current (Ic) of 2212 was significantly dependent on the pre-heating temperature of the mold. At the pre-heating temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ followed by air cooling condition, Ic of 48 A at 77 K was obtained which was higher than others processed at different temperatures. In addition, the Ic improved to 132 A when tilt casting method was applied. The improved Ic is probably due to the fact that the tilt casting reduced a turbulent flow of the melt during casting causing less porosity and more homogeneous microsructure. Critical temperature was measured to be 87-89 K after the first heat treatment and it improved to 90-91 K when subsequently heat treated at $650^{\circ}C$ in a nitrogen atmosphere. This improvement was considered to be due to an optimization of the oxygen content in the range of 8.16-8.2.

Effect of Various Packaging Methods on Small-Scale Hanwoo (Korean Native Cattle) during Refrigerated Storage

  • The objective of this study was to investigate comparison of physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory characteristics of Hanwoo eye of round by various packaging methods [wrapped packaging (WP), modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), vacuum packaging (VP) with three different vacuum films, and vacuum skin packaging (VSP)] at a small scale. Packaged Hanwoo beef samples were stored in refrigerated conditions ($4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) for 28 days. Packaged beef was sampled on days 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28. Physicochemical [pH, surface color, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) values], microbiological, and sensory analysis of packaged beef samples were performed. VP and VSP samples showed low TBARS and VBN values, and pH and surface color did not change substantially during the 28-day period. For VSP, total viable bacteria, psychrotrophic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and coliform counts were lower than those for other packaging systems. Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli O157:H7 were not detected in any packaged beef samples. A sensory analysis showed that the scores for appearance, flavor, color, and overall acceptability did not change significantly until day 7. In total, VSP was effective with respect to significantly higher $a^*$ values, physicochemical stability, and microbial safety in Hanwoo packaging (p<0.05).

광촉매(光觸媒) 산화(酸化) 반응(反應)을 이용한 클로로페놀 분해(分解)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Removal of Chloro-Phenols by Photocatalytic Oxidation)

  • The Electron/Hole Pair is generated when the activation energy produced by ultraviolet ray illuminates to the semiconductor and OH- ion produced by water photocleavage reacts with positive Hole. As a results, OH radical acting as strong oxidant is generated and then Photocatalytic oxidation reaction occurs. The photocatalytic oxidation can oxidate the non-degradable and hazardous organic substances such as pesticides and aromatic materials easier, safer and shorter than conventional water treatment process. So in this study, many factors influencing the oxidation of chlorophenols, such as inorganic electrolytes addition, change of oxygen and nitrogen atmosphere, temperature, pH, oxygen concentration, chlorophenol concentration, were throughly examined. According to the experiments observations, it is founded that the rate of chlorophenol oxidation follows a first-order reaction and the modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood relationship. And the photocatalytic oxidation occurs only when activation energy acting as Electron/Hole generation, oxygen acting as electron acceptor to prevent Electron/Hole recombination, $TiO_2$ powder acting as photocatalyst are present. The effects of variation of dissolved oxygen concentration, temperature and inorganic electrolytes concentration on 2-chlorophenol oxidation are negligible. And the lower the organic concentration, the higher the oxidation efficiency becomes. Therefore, the photocatalytic oxidation is much effective to oxidation of hazardous substances at very low concentration. The oxidation is effective in the range of 0.1 g/L-10 g/L of $TiO_2$. Finally when the ultra-violet ray is illuminated to $TiO_2$, the surface characteristics of $TiO_2$ change and Adsorption/Desorption reaction on $TiO_2$ surface occurs.

  • 실릴콘 산화막을 $CHF_3/C_2F_6$ 혼합가스를 사용하여 반응성이온 건식식각을 행할 때 실리콘 표면에 형성되는 잔류막과 손상충의 열적 거동을 X-선 광전자 분광기(XPS)와 이차이온 질량 분석기 (SIMS)를 사용, 연구하였다. 저항가열을 통한 in-situ 분석에 의해 폴리머 잔류막은 $200^{\circ}C$부터 분해가 시작되고 $400^{\circ}C$ 이상의 가열에서는 graphite 형태의 탄소 결합체를 형성하며 분해됨을 알았다. 질소 분위기하의 급속 열처리를 통해 잔류막의 열분해는 $800^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 완료되고 손상층을 형성하는 침투 불순원소의 기판 외부로의 확산이 관찰되었다.

차량 운전자의 공기오염물질 잠재적 노출 및 차량용 공기청정기에 의한 제어 (Potential Exposure to Air Pollutants for Driver and Its Control Using Commercial Air Cleaning Device Inside Vehicle)

  • Vehicle occupant exposure to air pollutants has been a subject of concern in recent years because of higher levels of air pollutants inside gasoline or diesel-using vehicle, comparing to the surrounding atmosphere. Contrary to previous studies, fuel of vehicles operated in this study was liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This study examined the potential exposure and removal efficiency of selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) and respirable suspended particle (RSP) by commercial air cleaning device inside vehicle under different ventilation conditions. Vehicle concentrations inside of benzene, toluene, m,p-xylene, $NO_2$ and RSP were lower under the low ventilation condition. This was indicated that outdoor air pollutants could affect the vehicle air quality inside in case metropolitan cities such as Daegu. The urban vehicle concentrations inside of benzene, toluene, m,p-xylene, $NO_2$ and RSP with air cleaning device were higher than those without air cleaning device. This means that the use of air cleaning device equipped with activated carbon filter, which was used in this study, in the interior of vehicles could be expected to reduce the vehicle occupants exposure to air pollutants effectively. In batch type reactor of laboratory scale, removal efficiencies of air cleaning device used were $97.0\%,\;95.7\%,\;94.6\%\;and\;85.5\%$ respectively in benzene, toluene, m,p-xylene and $NO_2$.

석탄회로부터 제조된 $\beta-Sialon$의 고온산화반응 (A Study on the Oxidation of Sintered $\beta-Sialon$from Coal Fly-Ash)

  • 국내의 화력발전소에서 발생되는 Fly ash와 활성탄을 원료로 사용하여 환원질화방법에 의해 $\beta$-Sialon 분말을 합성하였다. 분말합성은 $1,450^{\circ}C$에서 10시간 동안 질소분위기에서 합성하였으며, 또한 소결체 제조는 $1,550^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 동안 관상로에서 소결하였다. 본 실험에서 합성된 $\beta$-Sialon의 z value는 2.15이었으며 XRD 분석결과 $\beta$-Sialon 이외에 소량의 $SiO_2$$_FeSi{x}$ 가 일부 확인되었다. $\beta$-Sialon 소결체는 20시간 동안의 고온산화 결과 1,31$0^{\circ}C$까지는 열적으로 매우 안정하나 $1,360^{\circ}C$ 부근에서는 급격한 무게의 증가를 나타냈다. $1,360^{\circ}C$에서 10시간 고온산화 후 산화층은 mullite로 상전이가 일어났다.

일본잎갈나무, 잣나무, 신갈나무 임분 토양의 층위별 토양수의 화학적 특성 (Chemical Properties of Soil Solution under Larix leptolepis, Pinus koraiensis, and Quercus mongolica Stands)

  • Soil solutions were collected by zero-tension lysimeters at Kwangju, Kyunggi Province to estimate differences in ion concentration among species and horizons. Zero-tension lysimeters were installed in O, A, and B horizons in Larix leptolepis, Pinus koraiensis, and Quercus mongolica stands. Soil solution samples were collected from September 1996 through August 1998 and analyzed for $K^+$, $NA^+$, $NH_4^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Al^{3+}$, $Cl^-$, $SO_4^{2-}$, $NO_3^-$, and $PO_4^{3-}$. The experimental site had high nitrogen loading from the atmosphere, and $NO_3^-$ was positively correlated with $K^+$ and $Mg^{2+}$. However, $NO_3^-$ and $NH_4^+$ showed a positive correlation only in the O horizon of Q. mongolica stand. Mg^(2+) deficit in the soil was predicted owing to the positive relationship of $Mg^{2+}$ with $NO_3^-$. Concentrations of $K^+$ and $Ca^{2+}$in soil solution were estimated higher in L. leptolepis than in other stands because of high leaching from the plant. Concentration of $Al^{3+}$ in soil solution was negatively correlated with soil solution pH. Mean soil solution pH of A and B horizons in P. koraiensis was lower than 4.7, however the $Al^{3+}$ concentration was lower than the toxic level to plants.
