Effect of the Interaction between Matrix and Nitrate Additives on the Sintering of Silicon Nitride

  • The interaction between commercial $Si_3N_4$ powder and two types of additives (nitrate and oxide additives) during the sintering of $Si_3N_4$ was investigated. The nitrates solution or oxide particles were added as a sintering additives. The surface of mixed powder was observed with FT-IR, TG, and HREM. DTA was used to characterize the reactivity of the powders. The formation of crystalline phases and phase transformation were analyzed by XRD. The adsorption of the additives on the surface of silicon nitride was confirmed in the nitrate salts. It was shown that the adsorption occurred by interaction between the amorphous $SiO_2$ layer on the $Si_3N_4$ surface and metal cations $(Al^{3++\; and \;Y^{3+})$ and anions $(NO_3\;^-\; or\; OH^-)$, resulting in a higher degree of homogeneous distribution of additives.

Budget 방법론에 의한 한국의 식품첨가물 사용기준평가 및 식품첨가물 9종에 대한 이론적 최대섭취량의 추정 (Assessment of Maximum Use Levels and Estimation of Theoretical Maximum Daily Intake for 9 Food Additives in Korea by the Budget Method)

  • The Budget method used currently in Codex for estimation of use levels of food additives was investigated and the specific approach that can be applicable for Koreans has been proposed. Theoretical maximum daily intakes(TMDIs) of benzoate, $\rho$-hydroxybenzoic acid ester, butylated hydroxyanisole(BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), t-butylhydroquinone(TBHQ), nitrite, nitrate, sorbate, and sulfite were estimated and compared with corresponding acceptable daily intakes(ADIs). Additives requiring further precise evaluation were screened. TMDIs of benzoate, BHA, BHT, TBHQ, nitrite, and sulfite exceeded ADIs. On the other hand, it is appeared that TMDIs of $\rho$-hydroxybenzoic acid ester, nitrate, and sorbate were below ADIs. It is expected that the Budget method may be used as one approach for the estimation of use level and risk assessment.

피로인산동욕의 무기첨가제에 의한 전해동박의 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Characteristics of Electrodeposited Thin Copper Film by Inorganic Additives in Pyrophosphate Copper Plating Bath)

  • The copper deposit on steel plate was prepared by pyrophosphate copper plating solution made with variation of inorganic additive. $NH_4OH$ and $NH_4NO_3$ were used as inorganic additives. The copper layer characteristics - tensile strength, crystallite size and crystal orientation - were evaluated by X-ray diffraction and Universal Test Machine. The presence of ammonium nitrate results in reduction of average roughness value from $0.08{\mu}m$ to $0.03{\mu}m$. In pyrophosphate copper plating solution without Inorganic additive, tensile strength of electrodeposit copper foil was reduced from 600 MPa to 180 MPa after 7 days aging. However, when adding ammonium nitrate, there was almost no change of tensile strength, intensity of crystal orientation - (111), (200) and (220) - and crystallite size (2~30 nm).

축산물 중 천연유래 질산염 및 아질산염 함유량 조사 (The Naturally Occurring Levels of Nitrate and Nitrite in Livestock Products)

  • 본 연구에서는 축산물 및 축산가공품에서 천연적으로 유래되는 질산염과 아질산염의 함유량을 조사하였다. 식육 223건, 식육가공품 51건, 원유 30건, 유가공품 142건, 알류 5건 및 알가공품 7건으로 총 458건에 대해 이온크로마토그래피(IC)를 이용하여 질산염과 아질산염을 분석하였다. 이 때, 축산물 가공기준 및 성분규격의 전처리법과 기기조건을 이용하여 분석하였으며 축산물 및 축산가공품에 적용하여 시험법 검증(직선성, 검출한계, 정량한계, 회수율, 재현성 및 측정불확도)을 실시한 결과, 모두 양호한 값으로 나타났다. 총 458건을 분석한 결과, 질산염이 167건에서 아질산염이 40건에서 검출되어 질산염이 아질산염에 비해 검출된 건수가 많았다. 질산염의 경우, 조제분유류에서 ND~40.23 mg/kg으로, 양념육류에서 ND~37.97 mg/kg으로, 가공치즈류에서 ND~32.40 mg/kg으로, 알가공품에서 4.92~31.50 mg/kg으로, 분유류에서 ND~27.73 mg/kg으로, 소시지류에서 ND~22.45 mg/kg으로, 베이컨류에서 ND~22.45 mg/kg으로, 자연치즈류에서 ND~21.55 mg/kg으로, 햄류와 발효유류에서 ND~20.82 mg/kg으로, 알류에서 ND~13.57 mg/kg으로, 버터류에서 ND~12.77 mg/kg으로, 우유류에서 ND~9.31 mg/kg으로, 식육류에서 ND~3.88 mg/kg의 순으로 나타났다. 한편, 아질산염은 알가공품에서 1.84~17.35 mg/kg으로 나타났으며 식육류에서는 ND~1.92 mg/kg의 범위로 검출되었다.

Effect of Encapsulating Nitrate in Sesame Gum on In vitro Rumen Fermentation Parameters

  • Encapsulation is a method used to protect material from certain undesirable environments, for controlled release at a more favorable time and place. Animal productivity would be enhanced if feed additives are delivered to be utilized at their site of action, bypassing the rumen where they are likely to be degraded by microbial action. A novel method of encapsulation with sesame gum was used to coat nitrate, a known enteric methane mitigating agent, and tested for the effect on methane reduction and other in vitro fermentation parameters using rumen fluid from cannulated Hanwoo steers. Orchard grass was used as basal diet for fermentation. The treatments were matrix (1.1 g sesame gum+0.4 g sesame oil cake) only, encapsulated nitrate (matrix+nitrate [21 mM]), free nitrate (21 mM), and a control that contained no additive. Analyses of fermentation parameters were done at 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 48 h time periods. In comparison to control, both free and encapsulated nitrate produced significantly reduced (p<0.01) methane (76% less) and also the total volatile fatty acids were reduced. A significantly higher (p<0.01) concentration of ammonia nitrogen was obtained with the encapsulated nitrate treatment (44%) compared to the free form (28%) and matrix only (20%) (p = 0.014). This might suggest slow release of encapsulated nitrate so that it is fully reduced to ammonia. Thus, this pioneering study found a significant reduction in methane production following the use of sesame gum encapsulated nitrate that shows the potential of a controlled release system in enhancing sustainability of ruminant production while reducing/eliminating the risk of nitrite toxicity.

Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 촉매 상에서 메탄올과 이산화탄소를 이용한 디메틸카보네이트 직접 합성에 대한 첨가제의 영향 (Effect of the Additives on Direct Dimethyl Carbonate Synthesis using Methanol and Carbon Dioxide over Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 Catalyst)

  • 본 연구에서는 메탄올과 이산화탄소를 이용한 디메틸카보네이트(dimethyl carbonate, 이하 DMC) 의 직접 합성에서 수율 증대를 위하여 주입된 다양한 첨가제의 영향을 살펴보았다. 그리고 첨가제의 주입과 동시에 반응조건을 달리하여 얻어진 반응특성을 살펴봄으로써 필요한 반응조건의 최적화를 살펴보았다. Citric complexation method에 의해 제조된 복합금속산화물 $Ce_{1-x}Zr_xO_2$ 촉매들 가운데, 가장 높은 성능을 지니고 있는 $Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ 촉매가 DMC 합성에서 사용되었다. 황산염(sulfate) 계열, 질산염(nitrate) 계열, 인산염(phosphate) 계열 및 제올라이트 등의 다양한 첨가제가 사용된 가운데 DMC 생성량의 변화가 관찰되었다. 그 결과, $-SO_4$를 지니는 황산염 계열의 $K_2SO_4$$Na_2SO_4$ 등의 첨가제가 $Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ 촉매와 함께 사용됨으로써 가장 높은 DMC 생성량을 얻었다. 기존의 첨가제 없이 $Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ 촉매가 사용된 경우, 약 0.6 mmol의 DMC 생성량을 얻을 수 있었으며, $K_2SO_4$ 첨가제가 동시에 주입된 경우 가장 높은 0.91 mmol의 향상된 DMC 생성량을 얻었다.

Clean Label Meat Technology: Pre-Converted Nitrite as a Natural Curing

  • Clean labeling is emerging as an important issue in the food industry, particularly for meat products that contain many food additives. Among synthetic additives, nitrite is the most important additive in the meat processing industry and is related to the development of cured color and flavor, inhibition of oxidation, and control of microbial growth in processed meat products. As an alternative to synthetic nitrite, preconverted nitrite from natural microorganisms has been investigated, and the applications of pre-converted nitrite have been reported. Natural nitrate sources mainly include fruits and vegetables with high nitrate content. Celery juice or powder form have been used widely in various studies. Many types of commercial starter cultures have been developed. S. carnosus is used as a critical nitrate reducing microorganism and lactic acid bacteria or other Staphylococcus species also were used. Pre-converted nitrite has also been compared with synthetic nitrite and studies have been aimed at improving utilization by exploiting the strengths (positive consumer attitude and decreased residual nitrite content) and limiting the weaknesses (remained carcinogenic risk) of pre-converted nitrite. Moreover, as concerns regarding the use of synthetic nitrites increased, research was conducted to meet consumer demands for the use of natural nitrite from raw materials. In this report, we review and discuss various studies in which synthetic nitrite was replaced with natural materials and evaluate pre-converted nitrite technology as a natural curing approach from a clean label perspective in the manufacturing of processed meat products.

$ZrO_2$$ZrSiO_4$ 첨가에 따른 Mullite/Zirconia 복합체의 치밀화 거동 및 강도 증진 (Densification Behaviour and Strengthening of Mullite/Ziroconia Composite with Addition of $ZrO_2$ or $ZrSiO_4$)

  • Mullite/zirconia composite was synthesized by adding zirconia and Zircon to mixture of Hapcheon kaolin(grade pink A) and aluminium nitrate salt in order to enhance strength of the mullite specimens. Kaolin and aluminium nitrate salt was mixed milled and calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$ and then 5wt% mullite seed was added to increase mullite content. The influence of the additives(ZrO2 and ZrSiO4) and sintering temperature on the strength of the sintered specimens was investigated. The flexural strength of the specimens containing 10wt% zirconia was enhanced from 150MPa without the additive up to 300MPa after heat treatment at 156$0^{\circ}C$ In the case of addition of 15wt% zircon the strength of the specimens systhesized at 1$600^{\circ}C$ was 225 MPa.

시트르산나트륨첨가(添加)에 의(依)한 담배의 연소성(燃燒性) 및 유해물감소(有害物減少)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies on Reduction of Harmful Compound and Combustibility of $Na_3$ Citrate-treated Cigarette)

  • 담배에 질산염을 청가하면 질소화합물이 증가되므로 질산염의 대체물(代替物)을 개발(開發)하기위한 실험을 한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 여러가지 첨가제 중에서 $0.6{\sim}1%$의 시트르산나트륨을 첨가하는 것이 연소성 및 Tar, Nicotine의 감소효과(減少效果)가 가장 양호했다. 특히 조연제첨가(助燃濟添加)에 따른 연소성(燃燒性)과 유해성분감소효과(有害成分減少效果) 및 열특성(熱特性)에 대(對)한 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 연소성이 좋으면 Tar, Nicotine, Bonzpyrene Phenols, NO, $NO_2E, 등의 유해성분이 감소됐다. 2) 단엽에 첨가(添加)된 질산염과 시트르산염의 시차열분석효과(示差熱分析效果)는 시트르산염 첨가시(時) L치(値)가 가장 적고 H치(値)가 가장 컸다. 3) 순수한 질산염과 시트르산염의 시차열분석(示差熱分析)에서 전자는 발열반응(發熱反應)이 없는데 후자는 발열반응(發熱反應)이 있었다. 4) $0.6{\sim}1%$의 시트르산나트륨 첨가시(時)에 Zone A에서는 Tar생성량이 많았고 Zone B에서는 Tar 생성량이 가장 적었다. 또한 이들 담배의 연기에서는 Tar, Nicotine, Phenols, Nitrogen oxides, Benzpyrene의 함량(含量)이 적었으며 연소성이 향상되었다.

석고몰드속에서 Boehmite의 Hydrosol-Gel로부터 제조된 알루미나의 미세구조에 미치는 M\ulcorner의 영향 (Effect of MgO on Microstructural Evolution of Alumina Prepared from Hydrosol-Gel Process of Boehmite in Plaster Mold)

  • The microstructures of aluminas, included of dissolved CaO as $\alpha$-alumina seeded pseudo-boehmite hydrosol was gelled in plaster mold and doped of MgO as dipping of calcines(120$0^{\circ}C$-2h) into Mg-nitrate solution, were compared to the one of which additives are excluded during the gellation. It was formed the boundary layer of 300~350${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ distance from surface to the inside, containing of approximately 500ppm CaO by dissolved Ca from plaster mold. As the MgO addition to the boundary layer with dissolved CaO, the microstructure of the layer was uniformed and inhibited the grian growth, compared to one of that additives be excluded specimen and of MgO doped-inside region. This result was considered as abnormal grain growth and effect of flat boundary formation be appeared by effects of dissolved CaO, were decreased by MgO co-doping.
