통계적 특징 기반 SVM을 이용한 야간 전방 차량 검출 기법 (Night Time Leading Vehicle Detection Using Statistical Feature Based SVM)

  • A driver assistance system is critical to improve a convenience and stability of vehicle driving. Several systems have been already commercialized such as adaptive cruise control system and forward collision warning system. Efficient vehicle detection is very important to improve such driver assistance systems. Most existing vehicle detection systems are based on a radar system, which measures distance between a host and leading (or oncoming) vehicles under various weather conditions. However, it requires high deployment cost and complexity overload when there are many vehicles. A camera based vehicle detection technique is also good alternative method because of low cost and simple implementation. In general, night time vehicle detection is more complicated than day time vehicle detection, because it is much more difficult to distinguish the vehicle's features such as outline and color under the dim environment. This paper proposes a method to detect vehicles at night time using analysis of a captured color space with reduction of reflection and other light sources in images. Four colors spaces, namely RGB, YCbCr, normalized RGB and Ruta-RGB, are compared each other and evaluated. A suboptimal threshold value is determined by Otsu algorithm and applied to extract candidates of taillights of leading vehicles. Statistical features such as mean, variance, skewness, kurtosis, and entropy are extracted from the candidate regions and used as feature vector for SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier. According to our simulation results, the proposed statistical feature based SVM provides relatively high performances of leading vehicle detection with various distances in variable nighttime environments.

The horizontal line detection method using Haar-like features and linear regression in infrared images

  • In this paper, we propose the horizontal line detection using the Haar-like features and linear regression in infrared images. In the marine environment horizon image is very useful information on a variety of systems. In the proposed method Haar-like features it was noted that the standard deviation be calculated in real time on a static area. Based on the pixel position, calculating the standard deviation of the around area in real time and, if the reaction is to filter out the largest pixel can get the energy map of the area containing the straight horizontal line. In order to select a horizontal line of pixels from the energy map, we applied the linear regression, calculating a linear fit to the transverse horizontal line across the image to select the candidate optimal horizontal. The proposed method was carried out in a horizontal line detecting real infrared image experiment for day and night, it was confirmed the excellent detection results than the legacy methods.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대용 적외선 야시경의 소형 경량화 및 저전력을 위한 전자회로부를 설계하였다. 설계한 전자회로부는 전압자동변환부와 전원공급부로 구성한다. 전압자동변환부는 배터리, 스위치부, 승압부, 전압선택부 등으로 구성한다. 전원공급부는 고광원 감지회로, 배터리 전압감지회로, 적외선 발광회로, 연결감지회로, 공급제어회로 등으로 구성한다. 설계한 전자회로부의 성능은 AN/PVS-14에 비하여 소모전력 및 상온 연속사용 시간에서 우수하였다.

히스토그램 분할 펼침과 축소 방법을 이용한 적외선 영상 개선 (Infrared Image Enhancement Using A Histogram Partition Stretching and Shrinking Method)

  • This paper proposes a new histogram partition stretching and shrinking method for infrared image enhancement. The proposed method divides the histogram of an input image into three partitions according to its mean value and standard deviation. The method stretches both the dark partition and the bright partition of the histogram, while it shrinks the medium partition. As the result, both the dark part and the bright part of the image have more brightness levels. The proposed method is implemented using C language in an embedded Linux system for a high-speed real-time image processing. Experiments were conducted by using various infrared images. The results show that the proposed algorithm is successful for the infrared image enhancement.

  • Thermal imaging system is electro-optical imaging device which can make visible the difference of infrared energy naturally emitted by objects. It is acquire the same images at any time of the day or night. There it has been readily available to the night observation such as fire control systems. In this study, we are manufacturing thermal image Al flat mirror. The surface roughness 3.539nm Ra and power 0.382 fringe(at 632.8nm), irregularity 0.835 fringe(at 632.8nm) for form waviness of thermal image Al flat mirror are very satisfied. The results will be reflected for development of the ultra precision application. And a brief review of Ultra-precision system in the field of Ultra-precision at Korea photonics technology institute (KOPTI) is present in this paper.

원적외선 카메라를 이용한 표면영상유속계의 비가시 환경 적용성 검토 (A study on the applicability of invisible environment of surface image velocimeter using far infrared camera)

  • 본 연구에서는 표면영상유속계의 한계점으로 지적되어 온 야간이나 안개시 적용 문제를 해결하기 위해, 원적외선 카메라를 이용한 표면영상유속계의 적용성을 검토하였다. 이를 위해 각 조건에 대한 원적외선 카메라의 측정 정확도 평가 실험을 진행하였다. 정확도 평가는 기존에 검증이 된 주간 조건의 일반카메라를 이용한 표면영상유속계 측정 결과에 대한 상대 오차를 산정하여 평가하였다. 결과적으로 원적외선 카메라를 이용한 표면영상유속계의 야간 측정 상대 오차는 최대 4.3%, 평균 1% 내외로 매우 낮게 나타나 정확도가 높음을 확인하였고, 안개 조건 또한 최대 5.2%, 평균 2% 내외로 매우 높은 정확도를 보였다. 이에 따라 일반 카메라로 수면 흐름을 가시화할 수 없던 비가시 환경에서 원적외선 카메라를 이용하는 경우 높은 정확도로 측정이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • In this paper, I propose an automatic background extraction method and continuous background updating technique. Because there is a movement of a vehicle and a change of a background is feeble, the area moving through the time axis is looked for and a background and a vehicle image is divided. A way to give dynamically the threshold which divides the image frame into a vehicle image and the background in a space is enforced. Through the repetition of the above-mentioned process, the background pictorial image is gained. Using the karlman filter technique, the update is done so that a background image can obey a climate situation and an environmental change in day and night. A background image processed algorithm is better than the existent one. Through simulation, the feasibility of the algorithm has been verified.

  • 소형 적외선영상 호밍시스템은 지상의 표적에 대하여 주야간 적외선 영상처리를 통하여 표적을 식별하고 주요 표적에 대하여 표적을 탐색, 탐지하여 추적하는 적외선 영상센서를 보유한 추적시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 지상의 표적을 주야간 적외선 영상을 통하여 표적 정보를 획득하여 실시간 영상처리를 통하여 표적을 식별하기 위한 고속의 CPU와 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)가 탑재된 보드 개발의 내용을 설명한다. CPU, FPGA 선정과 영상신호처리를 위한 CPU-FPGA 결합 아키텍처에 대하여 제안하고 또한 김발구조의 적외선센서를 제어하기 위한 FPGA를 활용에 대하여 설명한다.

신호처리 기법을 응용한 차량번호판 추출방법 (A Method to Extract Vehicle Number Plates by Applying Signal Processing Techniques)

  • This paper describes algorithms to extract license plates in vehicle images. Conventional methods perform preprocessing on the entire vehicle image to produce the edge image and binarize it. Hough transform is applied to the binary image to find horizontal and vertical lines, and the license plate area is extracted using the charateristics of license plates (the boundary information of license plates). Problems with this approach are that real-time processing is not feasible due to long processing time and that the license plate area is not extracted when lighting is irregular such as at night or when the plate boundary does not show up in the image. This research uses the gray level transition characteristics of license plates to verify the digit area by examining the digit width and the gray level difference between the background area the digit area, and then extracts the plate area by testing the distance between the verified digits. This research solves the probelm of failure in extracting the license plates due to degraded plate boundary as in the conventional methods and resolves the provlem of the time requirement by processing in real time such that practical application is possible.

  • Recently, surveillance system designed to collect various trsffic information are becoming new areas of development . Among these, the image detector is a ayatem which can measure the travel time and speed in realtime and this is emerging as the most effcient tool to be available in future related areas. But in measuring wide-area information in realtime, the image detector are yet full of problem in its accuracy. The aim of this ahesis is to develop an algorithms which can collect wide-area information such as travel time and travel speed in urban networks and freeways in realtime. The information on wide-area such as travel time and travel speed is important in accomplishing strategic function in traffic control. The algorithm developed from this study is based on the image tracking model which tracks a moving vehicle form image datas collected continuously, and is constructed to perform realtime measurement. To evaluate the performance of the developed algorithms, 600 ind vidual vehicles in total were used as data for the study, and this evaluation was carried out with the differenciation of day and night condition at the access roads in front of AJou University, In the statistical analysis results, the error rate was recorded as 5.69% and it has proved to be applicable on the field in both day and noght conditions.
