Recently, small satellite industries are rapidly changing. Demand for high performance small satellites is increasing with the expansion of Earth Observation Satellite market. A next-generation small satellites require a higher resolution image storage capacity than before. However, there is a problem that the HW configuration of the existing small satellite image storage device could not meet these requirements. The conventional data storing system uses SDRAM to store image data taken from satellites. When SDRAM is used in small satellite platform of a next generation, there is a problem that the cost of physical space is eight times higher and satellite price is two times higher than NAND Flash. Using the same satellite hardware configuration for next-generation satellites will increase the satellite volume to meet hardware requirements. Additional cost is required for structural design, environmental testing, and satellite launch due to increasing volume. Therefore, in order to construct a low-cost, high-efficiency system. This paper shows a next-generation solid state recorder unit (SSRU) using MRAM and NAND Flash instead of SDRAM. As a result of this research, next generation small satellite retain a storage size and weight and improves the data storage space by 15 times and the storage speed by 4.5 times compare to conventional design. Also reduced energy consumption by 96% compared to SDRAM based storage devices.

Phase noise spectrum distributions of signal generators for next-generation VSAT satellite system based on DVB-RCS2 were analyzed in this paper. The forward link of VSAT system utilizes the APSK higher-order modulation methods based on the DVB-S2 ACM, the modulation methods of the return link utilizes the higher-order PSK and QAM based on the DVB-RCS2. In digital satellite system using the higher-order modulation techniques, the phase noise have an effect on transmission performance, the transmission performance is dominantly degraded by the phase noise of signal generators in the transmission system. The phase noise spectrum distribution of signal generators are analyzed by considering the ACM conditions that adopts the modulation techniques and data rates due to satellite transmission environment. The proper phase noise spectrum distribution for next-generation VSAT system based on DVB-RCS2 are proposed from the analyzed phase noise spectrum characteristics.

The military satellite communication of ROK military, ANASIS is designed for analog data such as voice and streaming data. ANASIS cannot fully support ALL-IP communications due to its long propagation delay. The next generation satellite communication system is being designed to overcome the limitation. Next generation satellite communications system considers both high-speed and low-speed networks to support various operating environment. The low-speed satellite supports both broadband and narrow-band communication. This network works as the infrastructure for of wide-area internetworking over multiple AS's in the terrestrial network. It requires minimum satellite frequency and minimum power and works without PEP and router. In this paper, we propose a network operation structure to enable the inter-operation between high and low-speed satellite networks. In addition, we propose a data link protocol for low speed satellite networks.

As the information age comes out, the aspect of future war brings about the many changes in terms of war-fighting environment. Accordingly, information superiority and intelligence-centric warfare have been important and new war-fighting concept such as NCW(network centric warfare) have been turned up. This paper proposed all-weather core-strategy communications systems guaranteeing not only the real-time transmission of the information collected in a battlefield and expansion, automation, and rapidity of a battlefield but also broadband, mobility, survivability, and flexibility. The proposed military satellite communications system is classified into wideband mass capacity link, survivability, and the system supporting OTM(on the move) communication for the real-time transmission of battlefield information. This paper analyzed the essential operation concepts and core schemes of the U.S. Army's next generation system, TSAT(Transformational Satellite Communication System). Base on the analysis results, this paper proposed that the architecture of next generation military satellite communications systems for NCW have to provide the data rate, anti-jamming capability, network control and management capability which are optimally adaptable for the wireless channel environments such as jamming and interference and to support the variety of platforms like high-speed mobile vehicles, micromini devices, super-high speed unmanned aerial vehicles. Finally, this paper also proposed that next generation military satellite communications systems need the technologies such as the adaptable multi-antenna, laser link, and next-generation anti-jamming waveform.

Korean military is developing the next generation military satellite communications system in order to achieve the requirements of future military satellite communication such as high speed, high capacity, survivability, all IP networking, and on-the-move. In this paper, we survey and analyze the research interests about optimal resource allocation and IP networking such as MF-TDMA, random access, satellite IP routing, and PEP. Conventional researches have focused on the increase in channel throughput and efficiency. In addition to these measurements, we consider heterogeneous satellite terminals, full mesh topology, distributed network, anti-jamming, and the like which are the special characteristics of the next generation military satellite communications system. Based on this, we present key research issues and evaluation on the issues by simulation.

These days, satellite core technologies are being developed as a way to provide various information by considering simultaneously sending, wide area covering, highly precide, and anti-disaster technologies. Not only global positioning, and image but also space launcher, satellite bus, satellite payload, earth station are being convergently developed in a different technological field. Especially, it is required a lot of initial investing expenditure to provide the Earth observational information service based on the space technologies. Such a trend and change of satellite technologies Korea has realized the necessity for the domestic independent development of next generation earth observation satellites, and are preparing the profound items such as a detailed implementation plan for the efficient development project. Like the satellite advanced countries, it should be transparently carried out that an efficient implementation of the developing target related to the geostationary earth observation satellite development, establishment of technological auditing function and quality assurance system, implementation plan, progressing courses and results of the satellite development program by way of planning, evaluation and management. For these things cited above, it is necessary to operate systematically and continuously the professional structural system by the governmental department in order to control the geostationary earth observation satellite development project. Therefore, this study proposes a development project management improvement method of the Korea next generation geostationary earth observation satellite based on the development project management system of the domestic geostationary satellite system.
"The FAA's Next Generation Air Transportation System" is a comprehensive overhaul of U.S National Airspace System to make air travel more convenient and dependable, while ensuring the flight is as safe, secure and hassle-free as possible. At its most basic level, NextGen represents an evolution from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management. This evolution is vital to meeting future demand, and to avoiding gridlock in the sky and at U.S airports. NextGen will open worldwide's skies to continued growth and increased safety while reducing aviation's environmental impact.

Next generation military satellite communication systems have been developed for expanding capacity and survivability. As for expanding capacity, the communication systems require efficient techonology to use limited resource. So, next generation communication systems are expected to use MF-TDMA technology. MF-TDMA is the technology which has the advantages of FDMA and TDMA. By using MF-TDMA, communication systems can use limited resource efficiently, and the performance of resource allocation depends on the allocation scheme. In this paper, we propose efficient allocation scheme for next generation military satellite communication systems. Also, we compare and analze performances such as Total Resource Efficient, Reject Ratio, Computational Time, PSD distribution with existing allocation schemes.
This paper presents the development of an end-to-end numerical simulator for signal design of the next generation global navigation satellite system (GNSS). The GNSS services are an essential element of modern human life, becoming a core part of national infra-structure. Several countries are developing or modernizing their own positioning and timing system as their demand, and South Korea is also planning to develop a Korean Positioning System (KPS) based on its own technology, with the aim of operation in 2034. The developed simulator consists of three main units such as a signal generator, a channel unit, and a receiver. The signal generator is constructed based on the actual navigation satellite payload model. For channels, a simple Gaussian channel and land mobile satellite (LMS) multipath channel environments are implemented. A software receiver approach based on a commercial GNSS receiver model is employed. Through the simulator proposed in this paper, it is possible to simulate the entire transceiver chain process from signal generation to receiver processing including channel effect. Finally, numerical simulation results for a simple example scenario is analyzed. The use of the numerical signal simulator in this paper will be ideally suited to design a new navigation signal for the upcoming KPS by reducing the research and development efforts, tremendously.
