  • In this paper, we consider the problem of optimum selection of quality-of-service(QoS) classes in interworking between the networks in a next-generation-network(NGN) environment. After introducing the delay-cost and loss-cost characteristics, we discuss the time-invariant(TI) and time-variant(TV) scenarios. For the TI case, we show that under nearly lossless transmission condition, each network can make its own optimization regardless of other networks. For the TV case, we present sufficient conditions under which the optimum QoS class of each network can be considered fixed with respect to time without considerable degradation in the optimization target. Therefore, under the conditions presented in this paper, the QoS of a flow in each network can be determined solely by considering the characteristics of that network and this QoS class can be held fixed during the flow period.

  • Recently the trends of telecommunications market is able to be explained by the shift of center from wire to and the rapid increase of data service. Not only all the world is tied one by emerging Internet and its fast spread, but also the degree of building If is the most important measure to evaluate national competence. In this point of view, next generation Internet is required for strengthening comparative advantage in industry and infrastructure in country. So in this paper, identifying the limitation of present Internet, and the concept of next generation Internet. Finally it is suggested in this paper that definition of optical Internet as next generation Internet of which technical situation and evolution direction, then provide to the implication for successful its establishment.

  • In this paper, a fault location algorithm is suggested for line to line faults in distribution networks. Conventional fault location algorithms use the symmetrical component transformation, a very useful tool for transmission network analysis. However, its application is restricted to balanced network only. Distribution networks are, in general, operated in unbalanced manners, therefore, conventional methods cannot be applied directly, which is the reason why there are few research results on fault location in distribution networks. Especially, the line to line fault is considered as a more difficult subject. The proposed algorithm uses direct 3-phase circuit analysis, which means it can be applied not only to balanced networks but also to unbalanced networks like distribution a network. The comparisons of simulation results between one of conventional methods and the suggested method are presented to show its effectiveness and accuracy.

  • The concept and characteristics of the propulsion systems for the next generation flight vehicles are described in this paper, where Hey are grouped into air breathing engine, rocket engine and combined cycle engine according to the feeding system of oxidizer. Air breathing engine has its good reusability and superior performance at low altitude, but its usage is limited at high altitude due to the decreased air density. Rocket engine can be used over the wide range of altitude, but it has disadvantages in low specific impulse and high cost. The several types of combined cycle engine, which are being developed by the leading countries in the aerospace, are highlighted as a remarkable candidate for the next generation propulsion system.

  • The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a model plant for genome research in Solanaceae, as well as for studying crop breeding. Genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are a valuable resource in genetic research and breeding. However, to do discovery of genome-wide SNPs, most methods require expensive high-depth sequencing. Here, we describe a method for SNP calling using a modified version of SAMtools that improved its sensitivity. We analyzed 90 Gb of raw sequence data from next-generation sequencing of two resequencing and seven transcriptome data sets from several tomato accessions. Our study identified 4,812,432 non-redundant SNPs. Moreover, the workflow of SNP calling was improved by aligning the reference genome with its own raw data. Using this approach, 131,785 SNPs were discovered from transcriptome data of seven accessions. In addition, 4,680,647 SNPs were identified from the genome of S. pimpinellifolium, which are 60 times more than 71,637 of the PI212816 transcriptome. SNP distribution was compared between the whole genome and transcriptome of S. pimpinellifolium. Moreover, we surveyed the location of SNPs within genic and intergenic regions. Our results indicated that the sufficient genome-wide SNP markers and very sensitive SNP calling method allow for application of marker assisted breeding and genome-wide association studies.

  • ANODE-free Li-metal batteries (AFLMBs) operating with Li of cathode material have attracted enormous attention due to their exceptional energy density originating from anode-free structure in the confined cell volume. However, uncontrolled dendritic growth of lithium on a copper current collector can limit its practical application as it causes fatal issues for stable cycling such as dead Li formation, unstable solid electrolyte interphase, electrolyte exhaustion, and internal short-circuit. To overcome this limitation, here, we report a novel dual-salt electrolyte comprising of 0.2 M LiPF6 + 3.8 M lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide in a carbonate/ester co-solvent with 5 wt% fluoroethylene carbonate, 2 wt% vinylene carbonate, and 0.2 wt% LiNO3 additives. Because the dual-salt electrolyte facilitates uniform/dense Li deposition on the current collector and can form robust/ionic conductive LiF-based SEI layer on the deposited Li, a Li/Li symmetrical cell exhibits improved cycling performance and low polarization for over 200 h operation. Furthermore, the anode-free LiFePO4/Cu cells in the carbonate electrolyte shows significantly enhanced cycling stability compared to the counterparts consisting of different salt ratios. This study shows an importance of electrolyte design guiding uniform Li deposition and forming stable SEI layer for AFLMBs.

  • The Korean innovation ecosystem has evolved from a catch up stage to a creative leader stage where government's role in creating a private sector driven, healthy and dynamic ecosystem is important. Korea's innovation ecosystem shows a stagnation of innovation performance and a lack of linkage activities within the national innovation ecosystem and in global cooperation, despite the dramatic advancement and expansion of the ecosystem. A next-generation innovation ecosystem model is required to create a future-oriented innovation ecosystem. The next generation innovation ecosystem was prepared on the basis of the framework, which has 6 elements among which inter-firm network is the the micro-foundation of the ecosystem. On the basis of the framework, assuming that the next generation innovation ecosystem is the evolved existing ecosystem, responsive the discontinuous change in market and technology, which is private sector driven healthy and dynamic ecosystem, the next generation innovation ecosystem model was created. The concrete details on the direction of the policy entities responsible for building the ecosystem was presented, and the contribution of this study was discussed.
