Developing countries, as China, win the lead. Second, on the competitiveness aspect, industrialized countries lost competitiveness to newly industrializing countries before the 1960's. And newly industrializing countries were outpaced by China in the export competitiveness from the early 1990's. Third, on the aspect of product life cycle, industrialized countries go first through each period of product life cycle, introduction, growth, maturity and decline, and they all, excluding Japan, sustained period of Maturity for a long time. newly industrializing countries and developing countries go orderly through each period of product life cycle after industrialized countries. As to Korea, duration of each period was short. Specially characteristics of decline period appeared partly in the early 1990's. From the results, the theory of product life cycle, helping to explain changes in production and trade in new product lines, estimated to applicable to clothing export. The phenomena, Italy, Hong Kong and America sustain high competitiveness in the world clothing market for a long time, is needed to be studied carefully. The study about strong points in their clothing industries and competitiveness drive program be to influence Korean export policy in the future.

  • This study focuses on apparel production and consumption trends in major Asian economies in order to understand a paradigm change in the Asian fashion industry. A comparison of trade among ASEAN, NICs, and developed countries shows the changes that have occurred in terms of production and consumption of fashion products before and after 2000 in Korea, Hong Kong, and China. The flow of imports and exports in the apparel industry was analyzed using UN trade statistics data. The results found a change of industry structures in Asian NICs and ASEAN countries. Garment production bases have moved to lower cost regions like China and ASEAN; in addition, NICs sent a part of their export business in the fashion industry to ASEAN countries. The Asian fashion industry has transformed from a production base for developed countries into a consumption market with the emergence of newly industrializing economies.

  • Korean government has promoted the projects of National Geographic Information Systems since 1995 and the utilization level of Korean National Spatial Data Infrastructure based on them has also developed. However, due to the limit to domestic market size and the legal regulation on prohibition of large sized companies' expansion into domestic spatial information markets, Korean spatial information markets are tied up in term of industrial competitiveness. To overcome those problems and evade the domestic red oceans, it is necessary to find new one in overseas' blue ocean markets. It is estimated that overseas spatial information market will be grown to 125 billion-dollar size and the annual growth rate of it will be reached to 10.5% until 2015. Thus, Asian spatial information market has a huge growth potential and it is newly rising blue oceans for Korea. Advanced countries such as Finland, Germany, Sweden, and Japan have already expanded their market size into the newly industrializing countries. To step with advanced countries, it is time to set up the new globalization strategy of Korean spatial information for expansion into newly industrializing markets. The purpose of this study is to analyze the SWOT of domestic spatial information, investigate the status on spatial information of Asian developing countries, and suggest the globalization strategy of Korean spatial information for expansion into them. The globalization strategy can be labelled as K-FBI composed of 4 domains such as Knowledge sharing platform, Frontier, Back to the basic, and Internalization. In near future, the establishment and performance of road map based on the strategy will be the milestone for Korean spatial information companies' advance into Asian developing countries.

  • On the job training is useful : a part of on the job training has increased the marginal productivity of future and rate of wage. Investment in a human capital depends on character of investment and market conditions. The innovation role of small and medium firms has recently received increasing attention in newly industrializing countries as they attempt to transform their industries from labor intensive to technology intensive. It also suggests some implications to the small and medium firms' strategies and public policies accelerating research and development. Lack of qualified scientists and engineers often inhibits the small and medium firms' ability to access and assimilate external technical information. Such technical personnel are particularly scarce in NICs. Therefore, how to employ these technical staff should be an important issue for small and medium firms seeking to acquire distinctive competences. Small and medium firms must invest further education and training to its labor.

  • In this study, the conceptual model which can integrate the social process and technological teaming in technological innovation is developed and applied to the analysis of the cases on the innovation of Korean mobile telecommunication industry. Korean mobile telecommunication Industry has two peculiar characteristics. First, there have been rapid technological loaming and catching-up processes in Korean mobile telecommunication which have never been in other newly industrializing countries. Second, CDMA is the only multiple access mode which has been used in cellular phone service. It is the purpose of this study to analyse how these characteristics have been emerged during past ten years based on the suggested model integrating the social process of technology selection and technological learning.
