The purpose of this study is to summarize recent research on new product development (NPD) and to examine the direction of future research on NPD. In recent years, product development has also become more diversified due to the formation and disappearance of new markets, the increasing commoditization of products, and the emergence of new technological infrastructures such as ICT and crowdsourcing. In addition, NPD research is also in a situation where new research is emerging along with the progress of research in related areas, such as open innovation and customer participation. On the other hand, research on NPD has become increasingly fragmented into themes related to NPD as research progresses, making it more difficult to grasp the overall picture of NPD research, although review articles on NPD have been written. Not many review articles have been written in a way that goes beyond the individual themes of NPD research. However, even though it is impossible to look at NPD research as a whole, this study believe that by daring to conduct an exhaustive review of recent NPD research, rather than individual issues, and by understanding the types of discussions that have taken place in recent NPD research, this study can identify areas that require further discussion. Based on the above, the purpose of this study is to comprehensively examine and organize the topics and issues that have been dealt with in recent NPD research, point out the topics that have not been adequately dealt with in previous research, and indicate the direction of future research. This study found that (1) half of the previous studies this study reviewed dealt with the topic of collaboration in NPD, (2) existing studies on NPD assume that the purpose of NPD is to gain competitive advantage through differentiation, but the formation of the market itself through NPD has not been discussed However, it became clear that there has been no discussion of the formation of the market itself through NPD. While the formation and disappearance of new markets has become a common phenomenon in recent years as the competitive environment changes more and more rapidly, the formation of new markets through NPD may also be discussed as a new research area of NPD. However, the formation of new markets through NPD could be discussed as a new research area of NPD. This study examined the possibility of discussing the formation of new markets through NPD by using market category studies.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the young fashion which maintains a large share of fashion market emerged in the 1960s, its characteristics and what its influences on the contemporary fashion industry are. In particular, I am going to consider the significance of the young fashion by looking at the formation of niche market, the emergence of mass market for fashion, the expansion of aesthetic categories. we will be able to see the 60s young fashion of the young generation who emerged as new consumers in mass consumer culture exerted important influences on the contemporary fashion industry. First, the counterculture of young generation who rebeled against the uniformity of mass production helped the formation of new niche market. Second, the young fashion which pursued the lower prices for fashion made a big contribution to the popularization of fashion. The young generations tendency to demand new things and rapid change coincided with that of inexpensive popular fashion people can buy and change more easily than expensive high fashion. Lastly, the playful tendency of the young fashion expanded the aesthetic boundaries of the clothing, going beyond the uniformity of modernism with the emergency of diverse fashion materials - fabric and textiles - enable by technological development and the miniaturization of forms as revealed in mini skirt.
Recently, many researches on the biomass of the agricultural and livestock wastes are being conducted in several respects. The use of biomass is of benefit to the curtailment of oil import, environmental pollution decrease, global warming mitigation and so on. And, in the agricultural sphere, making use of agricultural byproducts can contribute to the revitalization of the agricultural industry and rural community. In other words, making new products or energy by using biomass have a possibility to be developed as a new industry. The industry can create new businesses and job opportunities for rural dwellers. Also, major 3 positive effects of market formation for the agricultural wastes, increase of the idle land use and creation of the new business are expected. However, the use of biomass may be difficult to secure a proper right as a market good in the autonomic market economy. It is necessary to establish or amend related laws or systematic tools for the revitalization of the biomass use. Also, it is required for the government to bear partial costs of the facilities and others in the beginning stage.

This study aims to provide strategic recommendations for promoting the development of the global satellite data services industry by analyzing the startup landscape. Based on the analysis of startup data, such as number of startups, market segment, and funding amount, we examined the paradigm shift in the global satellite data services market, particularly its convergence with other market segments. To this end, we derived the cumulative funding-convergence dynamics matrix, which classifies the converging areas into four quadrants by considering the growth rate of converging segments and the cumulative funding amount. In this way, we can specify converging areas in the satellite data services market that bear potential importance for the creation of new markets. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the advancement of the satellite data services industry and facilitate the exploration of new market opportunities. Furthermore, they can serve as a valuable reference for policy makers, industry stakeholders, government officials, and researchers involved in the satellite data services industry in capitalizing on the emerging space economy.

The commercial success of a new product is influenced by the time to market. Shorter product leadtimes are of importance in a competitive market. This can be achieved only if the product development process can be realized in a relatively small time period. New cutting inserts are developed by a time consuming trial and error process guided by empirical knowledge of the mechanical cutting process. The effect of previous cutting on chip formation and the surface residual stresses has been studied. The chip formation is not affected much. There is only a minor influence from the residual stress on the surface from tile first cutting on the second pass chip formation. Thus, it is deemed to be sufficient to simulate only the first pass. The influence of the cutting speed and feed on the residual stresses has been computed and verified by the experiments. It is shown that the state of residual stresses in the workpiece increases with the cutting speed. This paper presents experimental results which can be used for evaluating computational models to assure robust solutions. The general finite element code ABAQUS/Standard has been used in the simulations. A quasi-static simulation with adiabatic heating was performed. The path for separating the chip from the workpiece is predetermined. The agreement between measurements and calculation is good considering the simplifications introduced.

The study aims to investigate the process employed by companies to intentionally create market categories through implementation of product strategy. Much of the research on market category formation focuses on the spontaneous emergence of market categories, with a few studies focusing on the intentional creation of market categories. In the course of this study, I therefore sought to understand the logic by which companies intentionally create market categories, by treating the process through which market categories are formed as a sensemaking process, and by treating the behavior of a company intentionally forming a market category as an effort to manage this sensemaking process. In empirical study, we conducted an exploratory case analysis through content analysis of company press releases and consumer reviews. It is possible that market categories can be formed or changed if the way in which they are shared among market participants can be changed. In this study, we identified two sense-giving activities for the creation of market categories by firms as follows: (1) reorganizing market categories that flat-panel TV manufacturers in the North American market have attempted to form into subcategories of smart TVs, and (2) connecting them to surrounding categories through strategic labeling to establish new categories.

Customer satisfaction level is usually measured in terms of price, qualify, customization, after-sale-service, product variety etc. Each firm sets up a distinctive production/marketing strategy to gain competitive advantage by Prioritizing the customer satisfaction measures. The market differentiation strategy directly results in supply chain performance such as lead time, inventory, customer fill rate and market share. Product proliferation desirable in customization sense often conflicts the economies of scale effect in production side. This paper focuses the relationship between product variety and market share. Specifically, we investigate how introduction of new product affects the current market share, i.e., formation of customer preference and provide some insight into the optimal range of product variety.
This article is concerned with exploring labour market transformation in newspaper industry and thereby looking into skill formation and professionalization of journalists. In Korea, according to previous research, newspaper journalist labour market had been characterized by a low inter-firm mobility of workers and patterns of long-term employment and firm-based skill training. However, over the past few years, as new product strategies of newspaper firms has changed due to management crisis employers pull back from the responsibilities of investment on skill training and securing job stability for journalists. However, in spite of overall weakened firm-based skill formation systems within the market, there still seems to be long way to build alternative systems of skill developments for them. As a result, it will be argued that, in the absence of manifest labor market institutions such as apprenticeships or skill certification system, which are assumed to traditionally certify workers' professionalization, occupational identity and professionality of newspaper journalist labour market will be weakened. Labor market data from interviews with journalists in the newspaper industry are used in order to test this hypothesis.

The article examines the formation of a competitive paradigm of economic security of industrial enterprises in the formation of a circular economy. The basic laws of industrial enterprises are formed, which determined the characteristics of competitive positions and threats. The basic competitive concepts and their application at maintenance of economic safety of the industrial enterprises in the conditions of formation of circular economy are described. Thus, the technological approach to the formation of a competitive paradigm is based on production technologies, opportunities for technological modernization and development of infrastructure and intellectual competencies. The institutional concept reveals the regulatory mechanisms for ensuring competitiveness through the protectionism of national industrial enterprises, standardization and regulation of market imbalances. The innovation-investment approach within the competitive paradigm is also manifested in the creation of competitive advantages due to the presence of active innovative developments and their commercialization, knowledge and competencies of staff, capitalization of intelligence and communications, constant updating of infrastructure and technologies. Collectively, innovation and investment effects on the level of economic security allow industrial enterprises to ensure resilience to increasing competition, the emergence of new market challenges in the formation of a circular economy. A strategic approach to the application of a competitive paradigm to ensure the economic security of industrial enterprises allows you to justify the prospects for development and design behavioral models to predict and assess potential threats. The concept of system management is based on the complexity of threat analysis, the integrity of the economic security system, system-forming functions and patterns of implementation of industrial development tasks in the formation of a circular economy. The application of the described concepts is formalized by the authors through the definition of the basic patterns, directions and characteristics of their impact on the elements of the security system of industrial enterprises in the formation of a circular economy.
Purpose - This study proposes a strategic model for the late mover to effectively penetrate an industry that is dominated by a leading company. Thus, this study presents strategic implications for several late movers in overcoming the advantages of the leading company. Research design, data, and methodology - This study begins with a literature review followed by the formation of a strategic model that consists of: Repositioning, Utilization of Competence, Strategic Leadership, and Innovation. Specifically, this research analyzes LG Electronics (LG) as an example and investigates how LG infiltrates and grows in the water purifier market, overcoming the advantages of the powerful leading company. Results - The major steps taken by LG are summarized into four. First, LG studied the market, which had been conventionally treated as a single market. To penetrate the market, LG founded a new, special market segment. Subsequently, LG further segmented the market, executing a marketing strategy for each segment. Second, the unbending will of top managers was a key factor that addressed the challenge persistently. Third, even though LG was the late mover in the water purifier market, it had several technology competences such as compressor, refrigeration cycles, and algorithms. LG had profound knowledge in technology and used it effectively. Fourth, LG created a premium market through three innovative and distinguished factors such as the stainless water tank, sterilization service, and luxury design. Conclusions - This research draws four key findings from the example of the late mover in the water purifier industry: the reestablishment of a strategic position based on environmental change is an effective strategy for the late mover; strategic leadership is an important motive to generate late mover performance; and the late mover can utilize its existing knowledge and resources to overcome the first mover, such as presenting new added value compared to existing products as an effective catch-up strategy. Consequentially, through the study of performance determinants and the market penetration strategy of the late mover, this research has significance in providing basic material for companies trying to penetrate the market.
