Knowledge classification and expression of constructed knowledge have been main research issues in the field of knowledge representation. Constructed design knowledge of the former product loses its utility when new products with different structures are introduced to the market. In order to construct the design knowledge for a new product. designers need to reconstruct the design knowledge with new relationships. The design knowledge has been constructed with level trees, but it is difficult to rearrange the relations. Design DNA is proposed in this work in order to facilitate the rearrangement of design knowledge and give flexibility to knowledge structure. Design DNA is based on Layout-oriented domain knowledge and Function-oriented domain knowledge, which enables to generate new design knowledge that will result in new part geometries for given constraints on the part functions. Design DNA is applied to the design knowledge of lever system of the automatic transmission of passenger cars as an example.

This study is an examination of knowledge-based society's impact on knowledge, it's functions, and it's types in fields of humanities an social sciences. Knowledge-based society does not invalidate the definitive mechanism underpinning social coexistence today, but the importance of knowledge will increase greatly whereas the importance of the productive resources labor and capital will diminish. Therefore, knowledge-based society demands that we enter at this time into a discussion that takes new approaches to the knowledge. This study provides a doorway to a discussion of topics such as : Anticipating and characterizing the knowledge-based society, spectrum of fields of new types of knowledge for which typical differences can be ascertained, the interlinking of various disciplines in the respective field of knowledge, the new roles and types of knowledge in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

In this paper, we propose a conversational AI agent based on continual learning that can continuously learn and grow with new data over time. A continual learning-based conversational AI agent consists of three main components: Task manager, User attribute extraction, and Auto-growing knowledge graph. When a task manager finds new data during a conversation with a user, it creates a new task with previously learned knowledge. The user attribute extraction model extracts the user's characteristics from the new task, and the auto-growing knowledge graph continuously learns the new external knowledge. Unlike the existing conversational AI agents that learned based on a limited dataset, our proposed method enables conversations based on continuous user attribute learning and knowledge learning. A conversational AI agent with continual learning technology can respond personally as conversations with users accumulate. And it can respond to new knowledge continuously. This paper validate the possibility of our proposed method through experiments on performance changes in dialogue generation models over time.
The New Way of Working (NWOW) is changing the world in which we work today. The principles of NWOW are based on freedom of time and place to work, and steering on output (results) instead of input (presence). As NWOW is a relatively new phenomenon, research on the effect of NWOW on knowledge sharing in organizations is scarce. In this research two multiple-case studies were performed to investigate the effect of the New Way of Working on knowledge. In the first study (A) different knowledge sharing scenarios were used at organizations that were in the process of implementing NWOW. This provided the opportunity to compare the sharing of knowledge between 'NWOW workers' and employees that still worked in the traditional way (non-NWOW workers). In total 216 scenario results were evaluated to determine differences in channel choice between the traditional and new work environment. For the second study (B) a Knowledge Sharing Framework was developed, based on the theories of Nonaka and Alavi & Leidner. This framework was used to determine the type of knowledge shared, e.g. tacit or explicit knowledge, in 84 situations. Additionally, to measure the level of NWOW adoption, a NWOW Analysis Monitor was used. The results show that NWOW workers use more different communication channels than traditional workers. When knowledge workers become more mobile, they will exchange knowledge less explicit (codified) and more tacit (personalized), use less face-to-face communication, but more video calls and e-mail. The adoption of the principles of NWOW seems to have a balancing effect on the knowledge that is shared in a tacit and explicit way, which in the view of Scheepers et al. is an effective knowledge sharing strategy. The research results show organizations need to realize that the New World of Working is affecting the way knowledge is shared. Missing out on this development may result in the loss of important knowledge and impact the operation of organizations.

The objective of this study is to develop a knowledge-based scheduler applying simulation and knowledge base. This study utilizes a machine induction to build knowledge base which enables knowledge acquisition without domain expert. In this study, the best job dispatching rule for each order is selected according to the specifications of the order information. And these results are built to the fact base and knowledge base using the attribute-oriented induction method and simulation. When a new order enters in the developed system, the scheduler retrieves the knowledge base in order to find a matching record. If there is a matching record, the scheduling will be carried out by using the job dispatching rule saved in the knowledge base. Otherwise the best rule will be added to the knowledge base as a new record after scheduling to all the rules. When all these above steps finished the system will furnish a learning function.

The 21st century is often called the knowledge-based information society. A new term, Data Technology (DT), which handles data and creation of information, is defined. A few important concepts of DT which are related to Six Sigma are described. Also some characteristics of Knowledge Management (KM) which provide new knowledge are explained. As a new direction of Six Sigma, Six Sigma Focused on Knowledge Creation (SSFKC) is suggested. The way of implementation of SSFKC and its relationship with DT and KM are elaborated.
High-tech industries in Taiwan exist in an environment with diverse product requirements and intense cost reduction and information integration stress. They must develop new operational directions to increase industry competitiveness. Therefore, Taiwan's high-tech industries must continue R&D and creativity, establish knowledge sharing mechanisms and improve new product development (NPD) performance. This research analyzed and explored the influences of knowledge management (KM) and knowledge sharing mechanisms introduced by Taiwan's high-tech industries on new product development performance. The relationship between knowledge management capabilities and NPD performance is studied. This research considers the intervening industry and corporate position variables. Taiwan's high-tech industries have gradually entered the era of IT region integration and application with competitive advantage creation based upon core techniques. The in-depth study of knowledge management and knowledge sharing introduced by the high-tech industry revealed double meanings in academic and practical applications. The research results showed the following: (1) the stronger the knowledge management capabilities of Taiwan's high-tech industries, the more significant the NPD performance. (2) The better the knowledge sharing mechanism in Taiwan's high-tech industries, the more significant the NPD performance. (3) Corporate scale is not necessarily the critical factor in NPD success and the influence of corporate scale on NPD performance did not show significant differences. (4) The stronger the degree of leading corporate techniques, the more significant the NPD performance.

Traditional travel information systems provide us with comprehensive information and internet-based travel information systems (IBTIS) with useful information. However, they suffer from limited access to the system, and a lack of flexibility for user requirements. In order to overcome these problems, this research introduces a knowledge-based expert system approach. As a case study, a Knowledge-based Expert System for guiding a New Zealand tour (KEGUNZ) has been developed to suggest highly user-oriented travel plans efficiently in New Zealand. KEGUNZ has been implemented using EXSYS, an expert system shell.

In recognizing knowledge as a new resource in gaining organizational competitiveness, knowledge management suggests a method in managing and applying knowledge for improving organizational performance. Much knowledge management research has focused on identifying, storing, and disseminating process related knowledge in an organized manner. Applying knowledge to decision making has a significant impact on organizational performance than solely processing transactions for knowledge management. In this research, we suggest a method of knowledge-based decision-making using system dynamics, with an emphasis to strategic problems. The proposed method transforms individual mental models into explicit knowledge by translating partial and implicit knowledge into an integrated knowledge model. The scenario-based test of the organized knowledge model enables decision-makers to understand the structure of the target problem and identify its basic cause, which facilitates effective decision-making. This method facilitates the linkage between knowledge management initiatives and achieving strategic goals and objectives of an organization.
Diverse requirements of users on web-based model management force a system agent to develop user-adaptive building a model in reality and providing an adequate solution method of the model. The relationship between models is important knowledge for the agent to effectively build a new model to adaptively adjust an existing model under a problem and to efficiently connect the new model into an adequate solution method. Since the generating process of the inter-model relationship is more difficult than the building a new model however the process mostly depends on the knowledge of operation research experts. Without the adequate scheme of the inter-model relationship the burden of the management for the agent increases rapidly and the quality of the services may worsen. This study shows that meta-knowledge generated from relationship between models is important for the user to build a model in reality and to acquire the solver appropriate to the model. The relationship that consists of common and exclusive objects between models can be represented by frames. The system under development to implement the idea includes user-adaptive ability which identifies a model through forward chaining method and searches the solver appropriate to the model by using the meta knowledge. We illustrate the meta knowledge with an applied delivery system in supply chain management.
