AI 원형 관의 2축 압축 변형특성에 미치는 압축속도의 영향 (The effect of compressive strain rate on biaxial compressive deformation characteristics of Al circular pipe)

  • In order to examine the deformation characteristics of Al circular pipe underthe biaxial compression, the horizontal biaxial compression die for the experiment was manufactured. From this, in the various compressive strain rate (1 mm/min. ${\sim}$ 400 mm/min.)conditions, the circular pipes, which were made by Al materials, were investigated based on the properties change of cross section area, punch load and deformation behavior. The tensile and compressive strains were evaluated from micro Vickers hardness tester. From these results, the punch load and deformation characteristic of Al circular pipes were highly changed in the compressive strain rate about 200 mm/min. The Al circular pipes had the tendency that the punch load decreased with increasing the compressive strain rate. In addition, following as the change of the shape and position of neutral axis due to the deformation proceeding of the circular pipe, the special point of the internal circular pipe at maximum load showed the maximum deformation strain and the maximum measured hardness value. The CAE (computer aided engineering) simulation using Deform-2D program was performed on the circular pipe in order to know and verify the exact compressive deformation behavior. From these results, the experimentally measured results were reasonably in good agreement with the simulation results.

Increased Activity of Large Conductance $Ca^{2+}-Activated$ $K^+$ Channels in Negatively-Charged Lipid Membranes

  • The effects of membrane surface charge originated from lipid head groups on ion channels were tested by analyzing the activity of single large conductance $Ca^{2+}-activated\;K^+$ (maxi K) channel from rat skeletal muscle. The conductances and open-state probability ($P_o$) of single maxi K channels were compared in three types of planar lipid bilayers formed from a neutral phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) or two negatively-charged phospholipids, phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylinositol (PI). Under symmetrical KCl concentrations $(3{\sim}1,000\;mM)$, single channel conductances of maxi K channels in charged membranes were $1.1{\sim}1.7$ times larger than those in PE membranes, and the differences were more pronounced at the lower ionic strength. The average slope conductances at 100 mM KCl were $251{\pm}9.9$, $360{\pm}8.7$ and $356{\pm}12.4$ $(mean{\pm}SEM)$ pS in PE, PS and PI membranes respectively. The potentials at which $P_o$ was 1/2, appeared to have shifted left by 40 mV along voltage axis in the membranes formed with PS or PI. Such shift was consistently seen at pCa 5, 4.5, 4 and 3.5. Estimation of the effect of surface charge from these data indicated that maxi K channels sensed the surface potentials at a distance of $8{\sim}9\;{\AA}$ from the membrane surface. In addition, similar insulation distance ($7{\sim}9\;{\AA}$) of channel mouth from the bilayer surface charge was predicted by a 3-barrier-2-site model of energy profile for the permeation of $K^+$ ions. In conclusion, despite the differences in structure and fluidity of phospholipids in bilayers, the activities of maxi K channels in two charged membranes composed of PS or PI were strikingly similar and larger than those in bilayers of PE. These results suggest that the enhancement of conductance and $P_o$ of maxi channels is mostly due to negative charges in the phospholipid head groups.

Design for moment redistribution in FRP plated RC beams

  • Assessing the ductility of reinforced concrete sections and members has been a complex and intractable problem for many years. Given the complexity in estimating ductility, members are often designed specifically for strength whilst ductility is provided implicitly through the use of ductile steel reinforcing bars and by ensuring that concrete crushing provides the ultimate limit state. As such, the empirical hinge length and neutral axis depth approaches have been sufficient to estimate ductility and moment redistribution within the bounds of the test regimes from which they were derived. However, being empirical, these methods do not have a sound structural mechanics background and consequently have severe limitations when brittle materials are used and when concrete crushing may not occur. Structural mechanics based approaches to estimating rotational capacities and rotation requirements for given amounts of moment redistribution have shown that FRP plated reinforced concrete (RC) sections can have significant moment redistribution capacities. In this paper, the concept of moment redistribution in beams is explained and it is shown specifically how an existing RC member can be retrofitted with FRP plates for both strength and ductility requirements. Furthermore, it is also shown how ductility through moment redistribution can be used to maximise the increase in strength of a member. The concept of primary and secondary hinges is also introduced and it is shown how the response of the non-hinge region influences the redistribution capacity of the primary hinges, and that for maximum moment redistribution to occur the non-hinge region needs to remain elastic.

전단 좌굴을 고려한 샌드위치 평판의 최적 구조 설계에 관한 연구 (Optimum Structural Design of Sandwich Plates Considering the Shear Buckling)

  • 최근 재료 과학의 발달과 함께 선박의 초고속화를 추구함에 따라 높은 강도와 중량의 경량화를 동시에 만족시킬 수 있는 복합 재료에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있다. 샌드위치 구조 형식은 두껍고 약한 저밀도의 심재와 얇고 강한 고밀도의 면재가 접착된 복합 구조의 한 형태로서 두 개의 면재가 중립 축으로부터 멀리 떨어지게 됨으로써 2차 모멘트가 크게 되어 구조의 강성을 증가시킬 수 있는 가장 효과적인 경량의 구조 형식이다. 본 연구에서는 샌드위치 평판 구조가 분포 하중, 압축 하중, 전단 하중 및 이 들의 복합하중을 받을 때의 응력 및 좌굴 하중을 Rayleigh-Ritz법을 이용하여 정밀 해석하였다. 그리고, 샌드위치 평판에 대한 초기 설계에 응용이 가능하도록 좌굴응력 외에 Wrinkling 응력에 관한 제한조건을 고려하여 샌드위치 평판의 최소 중량 설계를 수행하였다.

CSR기반 좌굴 두께 요건을 고려한 이중선체유조선의 종방향 구조부재의 최적설계 연구 (Optimum Design for Longitudinal Strength Members of Double Hull Tankers with Central Long'l Bulkhead considering Buckling Thickness Requirement of Plate Panels based on Common Structural Rules)

  • The buckling assessment of plate panels described in common structural rules (CSR) is to be determined according to the buckling utilization factor with hull girder stresses calculated on net hull girder sectional properties. As the thickness requirement for the buckling assessment of plate panels is not explicitly given in CSR, a lot of time is spent to find the proper thickness of plate panels until reaching to an allowable buckling utilization factor. In this study, in order to reduce time and cost, the thickness requirement of plate panels satisfying buckling assessment was derived. The structural design system included with the thickness requirement for buckling assessment was developed. The system is called as Oil-tanker Automated Structural Investigation System (OASIS). The design result of longitudinal strength members using OASIS was verified by Nauticus Hull which is the rule scantling software of DNV. Finally, optimum design of a double hull tanker for the minimum weight using OASIS was presented.

콘크리트궤도 부설 철도교량의 동적거동 분석 (Analysis of Dynamic Behavior of Railway Bridge with Concrete Track)

  • 철도교량과 같이 주기적 가진에 의해 공진발생의 가능성이 높은 구조물에 있어서, 정확한 구조물의 동적거동 분석은 설계단계 및 공용중 안정적인 응답을 확보하기 위해 필수적이다. 특히, 콘크리트궤도는 강성기여와 질량기여를 통해 철도교량의 동특성을 변화시킬 수 있음에도 불구하고 일반적으로 철도교량 동적해석 시 질량으로만 고려되어진다. 본 연구에서는 실제 콘크리트궤도가 부설된 거더시험체를 제작하여 철도교량의 정 동적거동을 분석하였다. 또한, 궤도질량만을 고려한 경우와 궤도강성을 고려한 수치해석을 통해 중립축 위치와 고유진동수를 실험치와 비교 분석하였다. 이를 통해 콘크리트궤도 부설 철도교량의 경우 정량적인 산정이 가능한 콘크리트궤도의 강성과 질량을 고려한 해석값이 실험값과 근사한 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 콘크리트궤도 부설 철도교량에 대한 동적설계 및 동적안정성 분석 시 콘크리트궤도의 강성과 질량을 함께 고려할 것을 제안하였다.

하이브리드 휨 보강 고강도 콘크리트 보의 성능 평가 (Behavior of High Strength Concrete Beams with Hybrid Flexural Reinforcements)

  • 철근으로 휨 보강된 일반적인 부재의 경우, 강도설계법으로 부재의 공칭 휨 강도를 계산할 때 모든 휨 인장 철근은 극한상태에서 항복한다고 가정한다. 따라서 인장력은 철근의 도심에 작용하고 인장 철근 단면적과 철근의 항복강도의 곱으로 표현될 수 있다. 그러나 FRP bar는 철근과 달리 항복거동을 보이지 않기 때문에 각 열 FRP bar에 작용하는 응력은 중립축에서 떨어진 거리에 따라 달라질 것이다. 게다가 서로 다른 종류의 FRP bar가 동시에 한 부재에 적용된다면, 각 FRP bar의 변형률에 따라 작용하는 응력 또한 다양하게 될 것이고, 거동 양상 역시 예상과 다르게 나타날 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 일반철근, CFRP bar, GFRP bar를 이용하여 하이브리드 휨 보강된 6개의 고강도 콘크리트 보를 제작하고 구조실험을 실시하였다. 실험 결과 하이브리드 보강된 부재는 FRP bar로 단순 보강된 부재의 낮은 강성, 큰 균열폭, 취성 문제를 상당히 보완시켜주는 것으로 나타났다.

Nonlinear large deflection buckling analysis of compression rod with different moduli

  • Many novel materials exhibit a property of different elastic moduli in tension and compression. One such material is graphene, a wonder material, which has the highest strength yet measured. Investigations on buckling problems for structures with different moduli are scarce. To address this new problem, firstly, the nondimensional expression of the relation between offset of neutral axis and deflection curve is derived based on the phased integration method, and then using the energy method, load-deflection relation of the rod is determined; Secondly, based on the improved constitutive model for different moduli, large deformation finite element formulations are developed and combined with the arc-length method, finite element iterative program for rods with different moduli is established to obtain buckling critical loads; Thirdly, material mechanical properties tests of graphite, which is the raw material of graphene, are performed to measure the tensile and compressive elastic moduli, moreover, buckling tests are also conducted to investigate the buckling behavior of this kind of graphite rod. By comparing the calculation results of the energy method and finite element method with those of laboratory tests, the analytical model and finite element numerical model are demonstrated to be accurate and reliable. The results show that it may lead to unsafe results if the classic theory was still adopted to determine the buckling loads of those rods composed of a material having different moduli. The proposed models could provide a novel approach for further investigation of non-linear mechanical behavior for other structures with different moduli.

Theoretical and experimental serviceability performance of SCCs connections

  • The Self Compacting Concrete, SCC is the new generation type of concrete which is not needed to be compacted by vibrator and it will be compacted by its own weight. Since SCC is a new innovation and also the high strength self compacting concrete, HSSCC behavior is like a brittle material, therefore, understanding the strength effect on the serviceability performance of reinforced self compacting concretes is critical. For this aim, first the normal and high strength self compacting concrete, NSSCC and HSSCC was designed. Then, the serviceability performance of reinforced connections consisting of NSSCC and HSSCC were investigated. Twelve reinforced concrete connections (L = 3 m, b = 0.15 m, h = 0.3 m) were simulated, by this concretes, the maximum and minimum reinforcement ratios ${\rho}$ and ${\rho}^{\prime}$ (percentage of tensile and compressive steel reinforcement) are in accordance with the provision of the ACI-05 for conventional RC structures. This study was limited to the case of bending without axial load, utilizing simple connections loaded at mid span through a stub (b = 0.15 m, h = 0.3 m, L = 0.3 m) to simulate a beam-column connection. During the test, concrete and steel strains, deflections and crack widths were measured at different locations along each member. Based on the experimental readings and observations, the cracked moment of inertia ($I_{cr}$) of members was determined and the results were compared with some selective theoretical methods. Also, the flexural crack widths of the members were measured and the applicability for conventional vibrated concrete, as for ACI, BS and CSA code, was verified for SCCs members tested. A comparison between two Codes (ACI and CSA) for the theoretical values cracking moment is indicate that, irrespective of the concrete strength, for the specimens reported, the prediction values of two codes are almost equale. The experimental cracked moment of inertia $(I_{cr})_{\exp}$ is lower than its theoretical $(I_{cr})_{th}$ values, and therefore theoretically it is overestimated. Also, a general conclusion is that, by increasing the percentage of ${\rho}$, the value of $I_{cr}$ is increased.

철도교량 단부 전환부 궤도시스템의 구조적 거동특성 및 장기 내구성능 분석 (Evaluation of the Structural Behavior Characteristics and Long Term Durability for Transition Track Systems in Railway Bridge Deck Ends)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 철도교량 단부 전환부 궤도의 구조적 거동특성을 평가하는 것이다. 국내 고속철도 교량상 궤도표준단면을 이용하여 전환부 궤도구조를 설계 및 제작하여 피로시험 전, 후에 대한 전환부 궤도시스템의 중립축 및 동특성(고유진동수 및 감쇠비)의 변화를 비롯하여 피로균열 발생경향을 수치해석 결과와 비교, 검토하였다. 연구결과, 국내 고속철도 궤도설계기준을 준용하여 설계한 전환부 궤도시스템에 대한 동특성을 실험적으로 산정하였으며 국내 철도하중 및 충격효과를 고려한 피로하중에 대한 구조적 건전성을 실험 및 해석적으로 입증하였다.
