  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical trial research trends in regards to the neurofeedback training (NFT) in Korean journals. Methods: We researched articles published in Korean journals from 2000 up to 2013 and were related to the NFT. We searched six electronic databases to find relevant articles, using the term 'neurofeedback'. Results: 1) 6 single group comparative studies and 31 randomized controlled trials were found. 2) Healthy volunteers and students were most frequently studied with neurofeedback training. Other studies included attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Poststroke, panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PDD), temporomendibular disorder (TMD), and obesity. NFT interventions were attempted in diverse training protocols and assessed with many different outcome measurements. 3) Most studies showed effective results after NFT. Conclusions: NFT is increasingly studied and used in various clinical fields. Also, there have been efforts to adopt NFT in Korean medical clinics and researches, and more rigorous and innovative studies are needed in the future.

  • Objectives: This study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of the Neurofeedback training programme (NFT), and systematically search for factors related to the NFT.Methods: This study applied meta-analysis to thesis and journal articles published in Korea. A total of 42 papers published between 2001 to August in 2015 were evaluated, which were selected through a database search. Results: Summarizing the evaluation, the quality of results was low. The meta-analysis revealed that the effect size of the neurofeedback programme training was 0.691, over the median. Also, the variables were statistically significant to the neurofeedback programme training effect, and were consistent with the subject characteristics, their disabilities/non disabilities, and level of education. The results were also statistically significant to the neuro-feedback programme training effect according to the research method (training method), the sessions per a week, total sessions, and training time. Conclusions: The RoBANS result of 42 studies is at a risk of being highly biased. However, statistically, the meta-analysis result of the factors evaluated is significantly high.

  • In this study, we evaluated the EEG based BCI algorithm using common spatial pattern to find realistic applicability using neurofeedback EEG based BCI algorithm - EEG mode, feature vector calculation, the number of selected channels, 3 types of classifier, window size is evaluated for 10 subjects. The experimental results have been evaluated depending on conditioned experiment whether neurofeedback is used or not In case of using neurofeedback, a few subjects presented exceptional but general tendency presented the performance improvement Through this study, we found a motivation of development for the specific classifier based BCI system and the assessment evaluation system. We proposed a need for an optimized algorithm applicable to the robust motor imagery evaluation system with more useful functionalities.

  • Objectives Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) is a type of psychiatric disorder characterized with the primary symptoms of inattention and/or impulsivity and hyperactivity. The purpose of this study is to examine ADHD children who were treated with neurofeedback therapy. Methods We analyzed clinical report of 3 ADHD children who treated with neurofeedback therapy from January 2006 to June 2006. Results 1. All 3 children were diagnosed with predominantly inattention type of ADHD. 2. After treatment, cognitive strength, response, concentration, workload, left / right brain activity score were all different from each children. 3. After treatment, left and right brain activities were balanced. 4. After treatment, learning ability level was increased. 5. After treatment, the childrenwere in a better state referred to conner's scale and H.S.Q. score. Conclusions Further studies will be needed to get more clinical cases about the benefits of neurofeedback therapy with herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment.

  • The purpose of this study is to (evaluate) the effectiveness of neurofeedback training (NFT) and systematically search for the related factors by conducting a meta-analysis of theses and journal articles published in (the Korean language/Korea). This study analyzed 21 articles selected through a database search from 2001 to 2015. The quality evaluation result of the research, as research method characteristic, was low. It was found that, first, the effect size of the neurofeedback program training was .683 above the (median). Second, the effect size as the (moderator) variable played a statistically significant role in moderating the effect of the the subject characteristics, including the presence or not of disabilities and school level (elementary, junior high school, high school), on the effectiveness of the neurofeedback training program. Third, (the effect size) played a statistically significant role in mediating the effect of the research method (training method), number of sessions per week, total number of sessions and training time on the effectiveness of the neurofeedback training program. This study provides (comprehensive) data on the effect of the interventions and selection of the neuro-feedback training program subjects.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of QEEG-based neurofeedback clinical tests on patients diagnosed with anxiety disorder. Researchers tested six patients with anxiety disorder using 32-channel QEEG(Quantitative electroencephalograpy) and neurofeedback training equipment. The study measured anxiety levels of patients using QEEG and BAI physiological psychology tests. Test results found hyperactive beta waves present in all six patients' temporal lobe. The intensity of the wave of the right hemisphere temporal lobe T4(M=31.07) was the higher than that of the left hemisphere temporal lobe 3(M=29.11). Following Neurofeedback training, the beta wave of the right hemisphere lobe was reduced significantly in all patients. The average anxiety level decreased from 23.57 to 12.14 after the neurofeedback training. In addition, among the two patients who were taking medication, one patient reduced his dosage while the other patient discontinued taking medication. This result implies that the QEEG neurofeedback training technique can be effectively applied to patients with anxiety disorder.

  • This study aims to identify the effect of neurofeedback training by observing the pre and post brainwave measurement results of about 60(experimental group 30, control group 30) subjects who have shown self directed learning ability. The study took place at neuro-training center B, in between the months of Jan. 2010 and Jul. 2010. As the brainwaves are adjusted by timeseries linear analysis. The result confirmed the differences of both self regulation quotient, training protocol, and questionnaire. The result of the study suggest neurofeedback technique's possibility in positively affecting the subjects' self directed learning ability.

  • Bibliotherapy is the field of clinical counceling to treat the emotional, psychiatric and social maladjustment. Neurofeedback is a means by which participants can team voluntary control of the EEG and has been applied to a range of clinical conditions such as epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depressive disorder. 'Ul-zeong' comes from obstruction of qi by stress. The mind affect the body. The patient has depressed mood, irritable sign, chest discomfort, flank pain, angry state and some strange feeling on the throat. In this case, a female patient, 30 years old, who complained of amnesia, deficiency of the power of the attention and concentration depersonalization, depressed mood, insomnia ect. We treated the patient with bibliotherapy, neurofeedback and oriental medical treatment such as heral medicine, acupuncture treatment and aroma therapy. In result, the symptoms which she complained were improved.
