This paper presents the methods of short-term load forecasting Kohonen neural networks and back-propagation neural networks. First, historical load data is divided into 5 patterns for the each seasonal data using Kohonen neural networks and using these results, load forecasting neural network is used for next day hourly load forecasting. Next day hourly load of weekdays and weekend except holidays are forecasted. For load forecasting in summer, max-temperature and min-temperature data as well as historical hourly load date are used as inputs of load forecasting neural networks for a better forecasting accuracy. To show the possibility of the proposed method, it was tested with hourly load data of Korea Electric Power Corporation(1994-95).
In this work, the collapse moment due to wall-thinning defects is estimated by using fuzzy neural networks. The developed fuzzy neural networks have been applied to the numerical data obtained from the finite element analysis. Principal component analysis is used to preprocess the input signals into the fuzzy neural network to reduce the sensitivity to the input change and the fuzzy neural networks are trained by using the data set prepared for training (training data) and verified by using another data set different (independent) from the training data. Also, two fuzzy neural networks are trained for two data sets divided into the two classes of extrados and intrados defects, which is because they have different characteristics. The relative 2-sigma errors of the estimated collapse moment are 3.07% for the training data and 4.12% for the test data. It is known from this result that the fuzzy neural networks are sufficiently accurate to be used in the wall-thinning monitoring of elbows.

Experimental software data capturing the essence of software projects (expressed e.g., in terms of their complexity and development time) have been a subject of intensive modeling. In this study, we introduce a new category of Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Networks (gHFNN) and discuss their comprehensive design methodology. The gHFNN architecture results from highly synergistic linkages between Fuzzy Neural Networks (FNN) and Polynomial Neural Networks (PNN). We develop a rule-based model consisting of a number of "if-then" statements whose antecedents are formed in the input space and linked with the consequents (conclusion pats) formed in the output space. In this framework, FNNs contribute to the formation of the premise part of the overall network structure of the gHFNN. The consequences of the rules are designed with the aid of genetically endowed PNNs. The experiments reported in this study deal with well-known software data such as the NASA dataset. In comparison with the previously discussed approaches, the proposed self-organizing networks are more accurate and yield significant generalization abilities.
In this paper, we study a constructive approximation by neural networks with positive integer weights. Like neural networks with real weights, we show that neural networks with positive integer weights can even approximate arbitrarily well for any continuous functions on compact subsets of $\mathbb{R}$. We give a numerical result to justify our theoretical result.
This paper propose a prefilter type inverse control algorithm using chaotic neural networks. Since the chaotic neural networks show robust characteristics in approximation and adaptive learning for nonlinear dynamic system, the chaotic neural networks are suitable for controlling robotic manipulators. The structure of the proposed prefilter type controller compensate velocity of the PD controller. To estimate the proposed controller, we implemented to the Cartesian space control of three-axis PUMA robot and compared the final result with recurrent neural network(RNN) controller.

The impact of the input and output probability distributions on the performance of neural networks to forecast two year peak stream flow (cubic meters per second) is examined for two major river basins of the US. The neural network input consisted of drainage area(square kilometers ) and elevation (meters). When data are normally distributed , the neural networks predict much better than when the data are non-normal and have larger tails in their distributions.
Sinusoidal current tracking inverters have substantial advantages in high performance acdrive systems and various control strategies for the inverter have been proposed by several researchers. This paper develops a sinusoidal current tracking inverter with neural networks. The neural network are trained to follow a set of reference current waveforms by erro back propagation algorithm and the trained neural networks are applied to the current control. We compare neural networks method with conventional current control methods (fixed band and sinusiidal band hystersis methods) and simulation results are presented.
