In this paper, we construct and compare various guitar chord classification systems using perceptron neural network and convolutional neural network without pre-processing other than Fourier transform to identify the optimal chord classification system. Conventional guitar chord classification schemes use, for better feature extraction, computationally demanding pre-processing techniques such as stochastic analysis employing a hidden markov model or an acoustic data filtering and hence are burdensome for real-time chord classifications. For this reason, we construct various perceptron neural networks and convolutional neural networks that use only Fourier tranform for data pre-processing and compare them with dataset obtained by playing an electric guitar. According to our comparison, convolutional neural networks provide optimal performance considering both chord classification acurracy and fast processing time. In particular, convolutional neural networks exhibit robust performance even when only small fraction of low frequency components of the data are used.

Social media is a form of communication based on the internet to share information through content and images. Their choice of profile images and type of image they post can be closely connected to their personality. The user posted images are designated as personality traits. The objective of this study is to predict five factor model personality dimensions from profile images by using deep learning and neural networks. Developed a deep learning framework-based neural network for personality prediction. The personality types of the Big Five Factor model can be quantified from user profile images. To measure the effectiveness, proposed two models using convolution Neural Networks to classify each personality of the user. Done performance analysis among two different models for efficiently predict personality traits from profile image. It was found that VGG-69 CNN models are best performing models for producing the classification accuracy of 91% to predict user personality traits.

A ship's maneuvering motion model is important in a computer simulation, especially under the trend of intelligent navigation. This model is usually constructed by the hydrodynamic parameters of the ship which are generated by the principles of hydrodynamics. Ship's motion model is a nonlinear function. By using this function, ships' motion elements can be calculated, then the ship's trajectory can be predicted. Deeping neural networks can construct any linear or non-linear equation theoretically if there have enough and sufficient training data. This study constructs some kinds of deep Networks and trains this network by real ship motion data, and chooses the best one of the networks, uses real data to train it, then uses it to predict the ship's trajectory, getting some conclusions and experiences.

The Multiple Model/Controller IMC(MMC-IMC) is a model-based control method which uses a set of model/controller pairs rather than a single model/controller to handle all possible operating conditions in the IMC control structure. During operation, one model/controller pair that best fit, for current plant situation is chosen by the switching algorithm. The major drawback of the switching controller is the bad transient performance due to the model error and the use fo linear controller for nonlinear plants. In this paper, we propose a method that transient response of the MMC-IMC using two recurrent neural networks. Simulation result shows that the proposed method represents better performance than the usual MMC-IMC`s.
In this study, Neural Networks models were used to forecast daily streamflow at Jindong station of the Nakdong River basin. Neural Networks models consist of CASE 1(5-5-1) and CASE 2(5-5-5-1). The criteria which separates two models is the number of hidden layers. Each model has Fletcher-Reeves Conjugate Gradient BackPropagation(FR-CGBP) and Scaled Conjugate Gradient BackPropagation(SCGBP) algorithms, which are better than original BackPropagation(BP) in convergence of global error and training tolerance. The data which are available for model training and validation were composed of wet, average, dry, wet+average, wet+dry, average+dry and wet+average+dry year respectively. During model training, the optimal connection weights and biases were determined using each data set and the daily streamflow was calculated at the same time. Except for wet+dry year, the results of training were good conditions by statistical analysis of forecast errors. And, model validation was carried out using the connection weights and biases which were calculated from model training. The results of validation were satisfactory like those of training. Daily streamflow forecasting using Neural Networks models were compared with those forecasted by Multiple Regression Analysis Mode(MRAM). Neural Networks models were displayed slightly better results than MRAM in this study. Thus, Neural Networks models have much advantage to provide a more sysmatic approach, reduce model parameters, and shorten the time spent in the model development.

This paper presents neural networks for hybrid position/force control which is a type of position and force control for robot manipulators. The performance of conventional hybrid position/force control is excellent in the case of the exactly-known dynamic model of the robot, but degrades seriously as the uncertainty of the model increases. Hence, the neural network control scheme is presented here to overcome such shortcoming. The introduced neural term is designed to learn the uncertainty of the robot, and to control the robot through uncertainty compensation. Further more, the learning rule of the neural network is derived and is shown to be effective in the sense that it requires neither desired output of the network nor error back propagation through the plant. The proposed scheme is verified through the simulation of hybrid position/force control of a 6-dof robot manipulator.
This research deals with the prediction of compressive strength of normal and high strength concrete using neural networks. The compressive strength was modeled as a function of eight variables: quantities of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, micro-silica, water and super-plasticizer, maximum size of coarse aggregate, fineness modulus of fine aggregate. Two networks, one using raw variables and another using grouped dimensionless variables were constructed, trained and tested using available experimental data, covering a large range of concrete compressive strengths. The neural network models were compared with regression models. The neural networks based model gave high prediction accuracy and the results demonstrated that the use of neural networks in assessing compressive strength of concrete is both practical and beneficial. The performance of model using the grouped dimensionless variables is better than the prediction using raw variables.

Experimental software data capturing the essence of software projects (expressed e.g., in terms of their complexity and development time) have been a subject of intensive modeling. In this study, we introduce a new category of Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Networks (gHFNN) and discuss their comprehensive design methodology. The gHFNN architecture results from highly synergistic linkages between Fuzzy Neural Networks (FNN) and Polynomial Neural Networks (PNN). We develop a rule-based model consisting of a number of "if-then" statements whose antecedents are formed in the input space and linked with the consequents (conclusion pats) formed in the output space. In this framework, FNNs contribute to the formation of the premise part of the overall network structure of the gHFNN. The consequences of the rules are designed with the aid of genetically endowed PNNs. The experiments reported in this study deal with well-known software data such as the NASA dataset. In comparison with the previously discussed approaches, the proposed self-organizing networks are more accurate and yield significant generalization abilities.

The purpose of this study is to claim the validity of tuning the architecture of neural network models for multi-class classification. A neural network model for multi-class classification is basically constructed by building a series of neural network models for binary classification. Building a neural network model, we are required to set the values of parameters such as number of hidden nodes and weight decay parameter in advance, which draws special attention as the performance of the model can be quite different by the values of the parameters. For better performance of the model, it is absolutely necessary to have a prior process of tuning the parameters every time the neural network model is built. Nonetheless, previous studies have not mentioned the necessity of the tuning process or proved its validity. In this study, we claim that we should tune the parameters every time we build the neural network model for multi-class classification. Through empirical analysis using wine data, we show that the performance of the model with the tuned parameters is superior to those of untuned models.
In this paper, artificial neural networks, a new kind of intelligent method, are employed to model and predict amplitude dependent damping in buildings based on our full-scale measurements of buildings. The modelling method and procedure using neural networks to model the damping are studied. Comparative analysis of different neural network models of damping, which includes multi-layer perception network (MLP), recurrent neural network, and general regression neural network (GRNN), is performed and discussed in detail. The performances of the models are evaluated and discussed by tests and predictions including self-test, "one-lag" prediction and "multi-lag" prediction of the damping values at high amplitude levels. The established models of damping are used to predict the damping in the following three ways : (1) the model is established by part of the data measured from one building and is used to predict the another part of damping values which are always difficult to obtain from field measurements : the values at the high amplitude level. (2) The model is established by the damping data measured from one building and is used to predict the variation curve of damping for another building. And (3) the model is established by the data measured from more than one buildings and is used to predict the variation curve of damping for another building. The prediction results are discussed.
