In this paper, intelligent control method using neural network as a nonlinear controller is presented. Simulation studies for three link rotary robot are performed. Neural network controller is implemented on DSP board in PC to make real time computing possible. On-line training algorithms for neural network control are proposed. As a test-bed, a large x-y table was build and interface with PC has been implemented. Experiments such as inverted pendulum control and large x-y table position control are performed. The results for different PD controller gains with neural network show excellent position tracking for circular trajectory compared with those for PD controller only. Neural control scheme also works better for controlling inverted pendulum on x-y table.

In swarm robot systems, it is vital to maintain network connectivity to ensure cooperative behavior between robots. This paper deals with the behavior control algorithm of the swarm robots for maintaining network connectivity. To do this, we divide swarm robots into search-robots, base-robots, and relay-robots. Using these robots, we propose behavior control algorithm to maintain network connectivity. The behavior control algorithms to maintain network connectivity are proposed for the local path planning using virtual force and global path planning using the Delaunay triangulation, respectively. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method through some simulations.
This paper presents a new design methodology of networked control system using CAN(Controller Area Network). Feedback control systems having control loops closed through a network are called networked control systems. We design CAN nodes which can transmit control and monitoring data through network bus and apply these to networked control system design. We analyze the variation of stability property according to network-induced delay and determine a proper sampling period of networked control system that preserves stability performance. The results of the experimental example validate effectiveness of our networked control system.
In this paper, we have built an experimental magnetic levitation system for a possible use of control education. We have give a mathermatical model of the nonlinear system and have shown the stability region of the linearized system when it is controlled by a PD controller. We also proposed a neural network control system which uses a neural network as a feedforward controller thgether with a conventional feedback PF controller. We have generated a desired output trajectory, which was designed for the benefit of the generalization of the neural network controller, and trained the desired output trajectory, which was desigend for the benefit of the generalization of the neural netowrk controller, and trained a neural network controller with the data of the actual input and the output of the system obtained by applying the desired output trajectroy. A good tracking performance was observed for both the desired trajectiories used and not used for the neural network training.

With the current advances in optical WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) networking technologies and the increasing demand for network bandwidth the Next Generation Internet is expected to be a network that runs IP(Internet Protocol) directly over WDM-based optical networks. The network control architecture for the IP over WDM networks is different from that of traditional Internet since the underlying WDM devices have more constraints than electronic IP routers such as the lack of optical buffers and wavelength continuity property etc. In this paper we introduce several architectural models for implementing IP over WDM networks and propose an integrated network control framework for the IP over WDM networks. This framework leverages the traffic engineering control architecture for the MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) networks and is mainly developed for the IP over packet-switched WDM networks. We also report several preliminary simulation results of contention resolution schemes in the packet-switched WDM networks.
In this paper, we describes PID-neural network controller for the rotary inverted pendulum. PID control is applied to many fields but has some problems in nonlinear system due to a variation of parameter. So, we should desing the controller which is adjusted PI parameters by the neural network which is learned by backpropagation algorithm. And we show that on-line control is possible through the PID-neural network controller. The angle of the pendulum is controlled and then the position of the rotating arm is also controlled to maintain with in the set point. Measurement of the pendulum angle is obtained using a potentionmeter. The objective of the experiment is to design a PID-neural network control system that positions the arm as well as maintains the ivnerted pendulum vertical. Finally, we describe the actual experiment system and confirm the experimental results.

This paper describes a road-following controller using the proposed neural network for autonomous vehicle. Road-following with visual sensor like camera requires intelligent control algorithm because analysis of relation from road image to steering control is complex. The proposed neural network, relative similarity modular network(RSMN), is composed of some learning networks and a partitioniing network. The partitioning network divides input space into multiple sections by similarity of input data. Because divided section has simlar input patterns, RSMN can learn nonlinear relation such as road-following with visual control easily. Visual control uses two criteria on road image from camera; one is position of vanishing point of road, the other is slope of vanishing line of road. The controller using neural network has input of two criteria and output of steering angle. To confirm performance of the proposed neural network controller, a software is developed to simulate vehicle dynamics, camera image generation, visual control, and road-following. Also, prototype autonomous electric vehicle is developed, and usefulness of the controller is verified by physical driving test.
This paper presents a control method for the experimental mobile vehicle. By merging the advantages of neural network, adaptive and fuzzy control, neural network-based adaptive fuzzy control is proposed. It can deal with a large amount of training data by neural network, from these data producing more accurate fuzzy rules by adaptive control, and then controlling the object by fuzzy control. This is not the simple combination of the three methods, but merging them into one control system Experiments and some future considerations are given.
The Real-time Distributed Control Systems(RDCS) consist of several distributed control processes which share a network medium to exchange their data. Performance of feedback control loops in the RDCS is subject to the network-induced delays from sensor to controller and from controller to actuator. The network-induced delays are directly dependent upon the data sampling times of the control components which share a network medium. In this study, a scheduling algorithm of determining data sampling times is developed using the window concept, where the sampling data from the control components dynamically share a limited number of windows.

This paper presents a novel control methodology for communication network based nonlinear systems with time delay nature. We construct a nominal nonlinear control law for representing a linear model and a reset control system which is aimed for corrective control strategy to compensate system error due to uncertain time delay through wireless communication network. Next, online neural control approach is proposed for overcoming nonstationary statistical nature in the network topology. Additionally, DBN (Dynamic Bayesian Network) technique is accomplished for modeling of its dynamics in terms of casuality, which is then utilized for estimating prediction of system output. We evaluate superiority and reliability of the proposed control approach through numerical simulation example in which a nonlinear inverted pendulum model is employed as a networked control system.
