As the increasing expectations of a practical AI (Artificial Intelligence) service makes AI algorithms more complicated, an efficient processor to process AI algorithms is required. To meet this requirement, processors optimized for parallel processing, such as GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), have been widely employed. However, the GPU has a generalized structure for various applications, so it is not optimized for the AI algorithm. Therefore, research on the development of AI processors optimized for AI algorithm processing has been actively conducted. This paper briefly introduces an AI processor especially for inference acceleration, developed by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, South Korea., and other global vendors for mobile and server platforms. However, the GPU has a generalized structure for various applications, so it is not optimized for the AI algorithm. Therefore, research on the development of AI processors optimized for AI algorithm processing has been actively conducted.
In this paper, we present a CNN-based gesture recognition approach which reduces the memory burden of input data. Most of the neural network-based gesture recognition methods have used a sequence of frame images as input data, which cause a memory burden problem. We use a motion history image in order to define a meaningful gesture. The motion history image is a grayscale image into which the temporal motion information is collapsed by synthesizing silhouette images of a user during the period of one meaningful gesture. In this paper, we first summarize the previous traditional approaches and neural network-based approaches for gesture recognition. Then we explain the data preprocessing procedure for making the motion history image and the neural network architecture with three convolution layers for recognizing the meaningful gestures. In the experiments, we trained five types of gestures, namely those for charging power, shooting left, shooting right, kicking left, and kicking right. The accuracy of gesture recognition was measured by adjusting the number of filters in each layer in the proposed network. We use a grayscale image with 240 × 320 resolution which defines one meaningful gesture and achieved a gesture recognition accuracy of 98.24%.
We present AB9, a neural processor for inference acceleration. AB9 consists of a systolic tensor core (STC) neural network accelerator designed to accelerate artificial intelligence applications by exploiting the data reuse and parallelism characteristics inherent in neural networks while providing fast access to large on-chip memory. Complementing the hardware is an intuitive and user-friendly development environment that includes a simulator and an implementation flow that provides a high degree of programmability with a short development time. Along with a 40-TFLOP STC that includes 32k arithmetic units and over 36 MB of on-chip SRAM, our baseline implementation of AB9 consists of a 1-GHz quad-core setup with other various industry-standard peripheral intellectual properties. The acceleration performance and power efficiency were evaluated using YOLOv2, and the results show that AB9 has superior performance and power efficiency to that of a general-purpose graphics processing unit implementation. AB9 has been taped out in the TSMC 28-nm process with a chip size of 17 × 23 ㎟. Delivery is expected later this year.
The objective of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of the factors that lead to the development and adoption of AI-based chatbots. We analyze the structural relationship between the organizational (externalities), systematic (fit), and the consumer-related (psychological) factors and their role in the adoption of AI-based chatbots. Founded on the theories of task-technology fit and network externalities, we present a conceptual model overlooking common perception-based theories (e.g., Technology Acceptance Model). We collected 380 responses from Indian banking consumers to test the model using the PLS-SEM method. Interestingly, the findings present a positive impact of all factors on consumers' intention to adopt AI-based chatbots. However, the interplays between these factors provide a mixed perspective for literature. Apart from employing a combination of factors that have been used to study technology adoption, our study explores the importance of externalities and their relationship with fit factors, a unique outlook often overlooked by prior research. Moreover, we offer a clear understanding of latent variables such as trust, and the intricacies of their interplays in a novel context. Thereby, the study offers implications for literature and practice, followed by future research directions.

This study attempted to investigate changes in collaboration structure for each stage of national Research and Development (R&D) in the artificial intelligence (AI) field through analysis of a co-author network for papers written under national R&D projects. For this, author information was extracted from national R&D outcomes in AI from 2014 to 2019. For such R&D outcomes, NTIS (National Science & Technology Information Service) information from the KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) was utilized. In research collaboration in AI, power function structure, in which research efforts are led by some influential researchers, is found. In other words, less than 30 percent is linked to the largest cluster, and a segmented network pattern in which small groups are primarily developed is observed. This means a large research group with high connectivity and a small group are connected with each other, and a sporadic link is found. However, the largest cluster grew larger and denser over time, which means that as research became more intensified, new researchers joined a mainstream network, expanding a scope of collaboration. Such research intensification has expanded the scale of a collaborative researcher group and increased the number of large studies. Instead of maintaining conventional collaborative relationships, in addition, the number of new researchers has risen, forming new relationships over time.
Application of artificial intelligence (AI) approaches in eco-environmental modeling has gradually increased for the last decade. Comprehensive understanding and evaluation on the applicability of this approach to eco-environmental modeling are needed. In this study, we reviewed the previous studies that used AI-techniques in eco-environmental modeling. Decision Tree (DT) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were found to be major AI algorithms preferred by researchers in ecological and environmental modeling areas. When the effect of the size of training data on model prediction accuracy was explored using the data from the previous studies, the prediction accuracy and the size of training data showed nonlinear correlation, which was best-described by hyperbolic saturation function among the tested nonlinear functions including power and logarithmic functions. The hyperbolic saturation equations were proposed to be used as a guideline for optimizing the size of training data set, which is critically important in designing the field experiments required for training AI-based eco-environmental modeling.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the replication of human intelligence by computer systems and machines using tools like machine learning, deep learning, expert systems, and natural language processing. AI can be applied in administrative settings to automate repetitive processes, analyze and forecast data, foster social communication skills among staff, reduce costs, and boost overall operational effectiveness. In order to understand how AI is being used for administrative duties in various organizations, this paper gives a critical dialogue on the topic and proposed a framework for using artificial intelligence in organizations. Additionally, it offers a list of specifications, attributes, and requirements that organizations planning to use AI should consider.

With the development of ICT and network, security management of IT infrastructure that has grown in size is becoming very difficult. Many companies and public institutions are having difficulty managing system and network security. In addition, as the complexity of hardware and software grows, it is becoming almost impossible for a person to manage all security. Therefore, AI is essential for network security management. However, since it is very dangerous to operate an attack model in a real network environment, cybersecurity emulation research was conducted through reinforcement learning by implementing a real-life network environment. To this end, this study applied reinforcement learning to the network environment, and as the learning progressed, the agent accurately identified the vulnerability of the network. When a network vulnerability is detected through AI, automated customized response becomes possible.

Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Many military experts predicted that Russia could defeat Ukraine within a week, but the Ukraine-Russia War has not been going as expected. Indeed, Ukraine military has been defending well and seems to fight more efficiently than Russian military. There are many reasons for this unexpected situation and one apparent thing is due to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This study focused on AI-enabled combats that the Armed Forces of Ukraine has carried out around Siverskyi Donets River, the Crimean Peninsula, and suburbs of Kyiv. For more systematic analysis, the revolution in military affairs (RMA) theory was applied. There are four significant implications inferred by studying current Ukraine-Russia War. First, AI technologies are effective even in the current status and seems to be more influential. Second, hyper-connected network by satellite communications must be needed to enhance the AI weapon effects. Third, military AI technologies should be based on the civil-military cooperation to keep up with pace of technological innovation. Fourth, AI ethics in military should be seriously considered and established in the use of AI technologies. We expect that this study could help ROK Armed Forces to be modernized in the revolutionary fashion, especially for manned and unmanned teaming (MUM-T) system.

ChatGPT, a leader in generative AI, can use natural expressions like humans based on large-scale language models (LLM). The ability to grasp the context of the language and provide more specific answers by algorithms is excellent. It also has high-quality conversation capabilities that have significantly developed from past Chatbot services to the level of human conversation. In addition, it is expected to change the operation method of the tourism industry and improve the service by utilizing ChatGPT, a generative AI in the tourism sector. This study was conducted to explore ChatGPT trends and paradigms in tourism. The results of the study are as follows. First, keywords such as tourism, utilization, creation, technology, service, travel, holding, education, development, news, digital, future, and chatbot were widespread. Second, unlike other keywords, service, education, and Mokpo City data confirmed the results of a high degree of centrality. Third, due to CONCOR analysis, eight keyword clusters highly relevant to ChatGPT in the tourism sector emerged.
