^x Residential satisfaction by apartment housing type and by location was examined in Seoul Korea for a sample of 303 housewives disaggregated into four housing subgroups. These group differ in their personal characteristic by housing type and location. They showed significant differences in their levels of satisfaction and in their perception and evaluation of several community, neighborhood and housing unit attributes. A regression model of satisfaction for entire sample explain about 45% of the variation, but this conceals the compositional and the contextual differences between groups. Seperate regression for the four groups explain an average of 63% of the variation in residential satisfaction. Residents of high-rise and low-rise apartments both of center and periphery location differ significantly both from each other. Results show that certain dwelling, neighborhood and community context elicit dissatisfaction across the full sample. The objective contextual factor of housing type prove significant in most compositional subsamples, indicating that sources of residential satisfaction are not same in everywhere.
This study is intended to compare the quality of housing envirionments between single family house and apartments. To be specific, firstly, it is to be examined as to whether there exists any differences between residents of single family house and those of highrise apartments in terms of their perception of the quality of housing environment. Secondly, the major factors of the perception of the quality of housing environment may be linked to the level of housing satisfaction are to be explored in this study. The perception of the quality housing environment is composed of four factors such as living space, noise, neighbor environment, and structural feature. For the purpose, questionnaires were adinistered to 125 home makers living in single family house and 125 home makers in high-rise apartments in Kwangju. The data were analyzed with factor analysis, analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. The following conclusions are derived from the data analysis in thi study: 1) Resjdents of apartments tended to be more satisfied with structural feature of housing unit and less satisfied with noise than those of single family house. There are negligible differences between two housing types in perception of the quality of living space, and neighbor environment. 2) According to the singhle family house group, it is found that structural feature, neighbor environment, and living space predict most of the variance in the level of housing unit satisfaction. It is also turned out that neighbor environment, noise, and structural feature have impact on the level of neighborhood statisfaction. 3) the apartments group shows that structural feature is the only predictor having impact on housing unit satisfaction. It is found that neighbor environment factor predicted the level of neighborhood satisfaction.
The increased availability of portable, low-cost, high resolution video devices has resulted in a rapid growth of the applications for video sequences. These video devices can be mounted in handhold unit, mobile unit and airborne platforms like maned or unmaned helicopter, plane, airship, etc. A core technique in use of video sequences is to align neighborhood video frames to each other or to reference images. For video sequences registration, we extracted interested points from aerial video sequences using Harris, $F{\square}rstner$, and KLT operators and implemented image matching using these points. As the result, we analysed image matching results for each operators and evaluated accuracy of aerial video registration.

Purpose: Residents in deteriorated residential areas of Seoul have suffered from parking shortage problem. Since it is almost impossible to supply new parking, it is critical to find a way to efficiently utilize existing parking spaces. This study proposes utilizing unused parking spaces in apartment complexes so that residents in multi-unit or multi-family houses can share those parking spaces. Method: Spatial scope of this research is limited to multiplex-clustered neighborhood and apartment complex in Seoul. To identify the nature of parking problem, we reviewed current parking situations in residential areas and policies from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. To understand the amount of parking spaces required to solve parking shortages in multiplex-clustered neighborhoods, this study analyzed car ownership per household and available parking spaces in old residential areas. Then we were able to apprehend the amount of parking spaces that could be used for residents in aged multiplex-clustered areas. Result: Our analysis shows a great potential to utilize surplus parking spaces from apartment complexes for solving parking problems in multiplex-clustered neighborhoods.
The purpose of this study are to examine the types and sources of information used for housing choices and to figure out the related factors. Data are collected through self-administered questionnaires designed for this study, and the sample consists of 396 households in Pusan and Ulsan. The purposes are accomplished through descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses. Based on the results of analysis, housing information are divided into four specific types : economic. technical, housing unit, and neighborhood information. It is found that housing unit information including housing quality and economic information such as housing prices are identified as the most important ones for current and future housing choices. The most useful sources of housing information utilized for current housing are friends, relatives and neighbors. In addition, model house, real estate office, newspaper and adverizement are the another useful sources for housing information. Among them, the model house is the most helpful one for variety of housing information. Young households and those with a head whose occupation is professional/managerial tend to have higher recognition of the importance of housing information than do the other groups. The households currently living in small apartment and with a young eldest child are likely to have higher recognition of the importance of econimic information. Tenure type, the occupation of the household head, the age of the eldest child, and length of residence are the significant explanatory variables of the recognition of the importance of housing unit information.
Residential satisfaction is one of the most studied topics in the field of housing. This paper is to find factors that correlate with residential satisfaction of the residents and study the satisfaction differences between different groups of residents in urban village in Shenzhen. A questionnaire of 61 satisfaction variables grouped into five components based on literature review and actual situation in targeted village was conducted to find out factors related with residential satisfaction in urban villages. These components are dwelling unit, building conditions, village environment, neighborhood environment, and neighbors. Factors were extracted from these components and the correlations between the factors and residential satisfaction were analyzed by using Pearson's correlation coefficient to find out factors that most correlate to residential satisfaction. Satisfaction differences of the five components between respondents with different characteristics were also studied. The result showed all the factors positively correlated with residential satisfaction and residential satisfaction correlated the most with the factors of perception and information exchange, room sizes, and air condition and quality. The characteristics of gender, unit type, and interaction frequency with neighbors contributed to different satisfaction with certain components.

This study is to organize the frame of measuring inventory for housing quality related to mental health in foreign literature reviews. In the first step, many housing quality contents or items are extracted from empirical studies, including housing environment quality and mental health. In the next step, extracted contents and items are classified by space scope (house and neighborhood unit) and WHO housing properties (safety & security, health & sanitation, efficiency/convenience, comfort/amenity). Almost all housing properties follow the WHO standard, but some properties, sustainability and economic characteristics, do not follow the standard. These reflect on current Korean housing environment. They are energy saving and environment friendly effort, property value and economic burden, identity expression, and school district. So they need to be added to the Korean housing quality measurement related to mental health.
