A Gain Enhancing Scheme for Op-Amp in High Performance AIPS Using Negative Resistance Element (고성능 AIPS 내의 연산증폭기에 대하여 부저항소자를 사용한 이득개선방법)

  • In the high performance Analog Information Processing Systems(AIPS), gain boosting or additional gain stage is required when the gain is not sufficient with one stage amplification. This work shows that high gain is neatly obtained by enhancing the gain using the negative resistance element. Compared to the conventional techniques, the proposed scheme enjoys full output swing, small circuit area and power consumption, and the applications to various configurations of amplifiers. The negative resistance element is placed between the differential output nodes when used in the Op-Amp. The HSPICE simulation indicates that enhancement of more than 40 dB is readily obtained in this simple configuration when the negative resistance element is implemented in the form of cross-coupled CMOS inverters.

  • In this study, An active band grass filter for 2.14GHz have been designed with MMIC using negative resistance circuit. The negative resistance element was realized with a common-drain FET with series inductive feedback. The designed active filter showed an insertion loss of 0dB at 2.14GHz and a 3-dB bandwidth of 125MHz.

  • In this paper, the electrical conduction phenomena of oriented polypropylene film were studied. Especially, as for the range of negative characteristics, it is observed that as increasing ambient temperature, the characteristics are shifted gradually towards the low intensity side of applied field with the decreasing width of the range as well as the fact that the current oscillation takes place at the both transition points of the characteristics. Finally, it is also suggestive that the oscillation characteristics observed on the negative resistance range of the biaxially oriented specimen show the possibility to utilize it as active element materials.

  • Materials with specific micro-structural shape can exhibit negative Poisson's ratio. These materials can be widely used in structural applications because of their high resilience and resistance to impact. Specially, in the field of artificial implant's material, they have many potential applications. In this study, we investigated the Poisson's ratio and the ratio(E$_{e}$/E) of the elastic modulus of rotational particle structures based on structural design variables using finite element method. As the ratio of fibril's length to particle's diameter increased and the ratio of fibril's diameter to fibril's length decreased fixing the fibril's angle with 45 degree. the negative Poisson effect of rotational particle structures increased. The ratio of elastic modulus of these structures decreased with Poisson's ratio. The results show the reasonable values as compared with the previous analytical results.s.

  • A negative resistance element in the form of current control can be obtained by using a pair transistor circuit. This negative resistance element can be used in the generation of square pulse, and also in the realization of pulse width modulation circuit by superposing signal current on its bias current. The each bias current of pair circuit increases alternatively according to the polarity of the input signal. In order to satisfy this condition, a modified full wave rectification circuit has been adopted for supplying the input signal. Theoritical analysis of pulse times and design guidances for practical modulation circuit parameters are presented.

  • Tunnel diode oscillator consisting of a tunnel diode(negative-resistance element) and a passive linear load. In this paper maximizing the frequeney of a negative reistance oscillator with varying a passive linear load is investigated. The method of theoretical analysis, utiliying impedance loei in the complex plane and experimental data shows that the maximum frequencies of quasi-harmonic oscillation is higher in the parrallal-RL load than in the resistive load.

  • This paper is dealing a $V_3O_5-P_2O_5$ metal oxide glass semiconductor. This semiconductor is easy to fabricate in the atmospheric condition at relatively low temperature. The element is made like a bead, and platinum segments are used as electrodes. Other kind of metal withstanding high temperature near 1000C can also be used as electrode. Experiment verifies that the fabricated element has the resistance in the order of about ~$10^5\;\Omega$, and shows negative resistance characteristics and switching characteristics with respect to temperature. An equivalent circuit of the element is proposed based on its electrical characteristcs.

  • Prestressed composite girder bridges with concrete infilled steel tube at negative flexural moment region takes the advantages provided due to the interactive reaction in the steel tube and concrete interface layer, enhancing local buckling resistance and the concrete strength provided by the lateral confining effect of concrete. Two beams were tested to examine ultimate behaviors of prestressed composite girder bridges subjected to negative flexural moment. The experimental observations of the Prestressed composite girder bridges subjected to positive flexural moment are investigated and compared to the numerical results obtained by sectional analysis method, and 1-D. and 3-D. finite element analysis methods.

  • This paper is a study on application of warm air circulator by using the carbon heating element with particle type. The main variables are the input current and amount of carbon heating source for experimental characteristics. The experimental results are obtained as follows. As the input current and temperature are increased, the resistance of heat source is decreased about $20{\sim}25%$ by the effect of negative resistance. As the amount of heating source is small, Joule heat is large with the input current. When the amount of heating source is 300 and the input current is 15A, the value of Joule heat is about 4604.6kJ/h. The heat production efficiency of carbon heating source is larger about 10% than the sheath heater.
