We deduce the necessary conditions for the optimality of endpoint constrained optimal control problem. These conditions comprise the adjoint equation, the maximum principle and the transversality condition. We assume that the cost function is merely differentiable. Therefore the technique under Lipschitz continuity hypothesis is not directly applicable. We introduce Fermat's rule and value function technique to obtain the results.

The chemical composition of deposit metal by flux cored arc welding can be easily regulated though addition of deoxidizers and alloying elements in cored flux and fluxes of flux coored wire arc analogous to those of coated electrode. It is necessary to investigate the transfer and yield efficiency due to addition of necessary alloy elements in deposit metal. This report is made to intorduce an experimental equation from the relation between welding condition and extent of penetration, deposit metal and weld melt slag and to estimate transfer and yield efficiency of alloy components in fluxes through chemical analysis of deposit metal.

Given a system of s independent 1-forms on a smooth manifold M of dimension m, we study the existence of integral manifolds by means of various generalized versions of the Frobenius theorem. In particular, we present necessary and sufficient conditions for there to exist s'-parameter (s' < s) family of integral manifolds of dimension p := m-s, and a necessary and sufficient condition for there to exist integral manifolds of dimension p', p' $\leq$ p. We also present examples and applications to complex analysis in several variables.

In this paper we propose an inquiry task on the subject of congruent triangles. The task deals with conditions that are sufficient for congruency, and conditions that are insufficient. The aim of the task is to find the minimal number of identical components in two triangles that is sufficient to ensure congruency.

In this note the geometric realization of a finite group of homotopy classes of self homotopy equivalences by a finite group of diffeomorphisms is investigated. In order for this to be accomplished an algebraic condition, which guarantees a certain group extension exists, must be satisfied. It is shown for a geometrically interesting class of aspherical manifolds, called injective Seifert fiber spaces over a locally symmetric space, that this necessary algebraic condition is also sufficient for geometric realization.

In this paper, we get a complete condition for a group homomorphism of a compact Lie group with an arbitrarily given left invariant Riemannian metric into another Lie group with a left invariant metric to be a harmonic map, and then obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a group homomorphism of (SU(2), g) with a left invariant metric g into the Heisenberg group (H, $h_0$) to be a harmonic map.

For general open queueing network models, the relationship between weak limits of queue lengths and waiting times at stations is investigated under heavy traffic situations. It is shown that under suitable normalization, weak convergence of queue lengths and arrival processes is a sufficient condition for that of waiting times, and is also necessary condition when the network is of feedforward type. Moreover, these weak limits for queue lengths and waiting times are shown to be simply related.

A well-defined relative degree, which is one of the basic assumptions in adaptive control or nonlinear synthesis problems, is addressed. It is shown that this is essentially a necessary condition for asymptotic tracking in discrete-time nonlinear systems. To show this, tracking problems are defined, and a local linear input-output behavior of a discrete-time system is introduced in relation to a well-defined relative degree. It is then shown that if a plant is invertible and accessible from the origin and a compensator solves the local asymptotic tracking problem, then the plant necessarily has a well-defined relative degree at the origin.

In this paper we consider multiobjective linear programming problems with coefficients of the objective functions specified by possibility distributions. Possibly and necessarily efficient solution sets are defined as funny solution sets whose membership grades represent possibility and necessity degrees to which a feasible solution is efficient. Considering efficiency condition and its dual condition in ordinary multiobjective linear programming problem, we propose efficiency test methods based on an extreme ray generation method. Since the proposed methods can be put in the part of a bi-section method, we can develop calculation and methods of the degree of possible and necessary efficiency for feasible solutions.
