Adoption of Wireless Near Field Communication Method in the Discharge Measurements using Microwave Water Surface Current Meter (전자파표면유속계를 이용한 유량측정시 근거리 통신의 적용)

  • 전자파표면유속계는 여러 측정지점을 가능한 신속하게 이동하면서 홍수시 유속을 측정하는데 그 목적이 있다. 또한 홍수시 유속은 시간대 별로 급격히 변하는 속성을 가지고 있으므로 유량측정 지점의 유량을 실시간으로 획득하기 위해서는 현장 측정에서 측정한 유량데이터가 실시간으로 집계 되어야한다. 현재의 시스템은 측정 정보를 실시간으로 전송하기 위하여 현장 측정자에게 PDA가 보급되어 있으며 CDMA망을 통해서 유량 측정을 위한 각종 정보 및 측정결과를 실시간 전송하도록 되어있다. 그러나 전자파표면유속계를 비롯한 각종 유속계가 PDA와 무선으로 통신을 할 수 있게 되어있지 않기 때문에 열악한 여건의 현장에서 측정한 데이터를 야장에 수기로 기록한 후 이를 다시 PDA에 수동으로 입력시켜야하는 불편함이 있다. 전자파표면 유속계를 제외한 다른 측정 장비는 제조회사가 수자원공사와 독립적인 업체이므로 통신 접속을 하기위한 특정 인터페이스를 알아내기가 어려운 실정이다. 그러나 전자파표면유속계는 수자원공사에서 개발한 장비로서 핵심기술을 수자원공사에서 보유하고 있으므로 PDA와 통신을 가능하게 하는 장치의 개발이 가능하다. 이에 이러한 불편한 문제점을 개선하여 현장에서 홍수 유량 측정시 작업자들의 편이성을 증대시키고자 전자파표면유속계와 PDA간에 근거리통신기법을 적용하였다. 이를 위하여 Bluetooth, UWB(Ultra-Wide Band, 초광대역통신), Zigbee 등 적용가능한 근거리 통신기법을 조사하였다. 그 결과 Zigbee가 소비전력이 적어 현장에서 홍수유량측정에 이용되는 전자파표면유속계에 적용성이 가장 뛰어난 것으로 나타났다. 무선통신 모듈과 연동되는 전자파표면유속계는 이동식을 기준으로 적용하였으며 기존 신호처리부에 무선통신 모듈을 장착할 수 있는 구조로 설계하였다. 장착 방식은 기존 이동식 유속계의 신호처리부의 RS-232 포트에 무선통신 모듈을 장착하면 사용할 수 있는 구조로 되어있다. 신호처리부 RS-232 포트는 현재까지는 측정한 유속값을 PC로 전송받는 용도로 활용되었으나 무선모듈 장착 시에는 무선통신 할 수 있는 이중화 구조를 채택하였다. 두 가지 방식에 대한 통신구별은 초기에 송수신하는 데이터에 따라 구별되도록 하였다. 신호처리부에서 무선통신 추가에 따른 운용 방식은 별도의 수자원공사 모드를 추가하여 운용하도록 수정하였다. 유속 측정 시에는 무선통신 모듈을 제거한 상태에서 측정한 후, 측정한 데이터를 PDA로 전송할 때 아를 부착하여 사용할 수 있는 구조를 갖도록 제작하였다. 이러한 방식을 적용시킨 이유는 기존에 보급된 유속계에 무선모듈을 장착한 후, 신호처리부 운용 프로그램을 업그레이드하면 바로 사용할 수 있도록 하기 위함이다.

Impact of the human body in wireless propagation of medical implants for tumor detection

  • This paper analyses the feasibility of using implantable antennas to detect and monitor tumors. We analyze this setting according to the wireless propagation loss and signal fading produced by human bodies and their environment in an indoor scenario. The study is based on the ITU-R propagation recommendations and prediction models for the planning of indoor radio communication systems and radio local area networks in the frequency range of 300 MHz to 100 GHz. We conduct primary estimations on 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz operating frequencies. The path loss presented in most short-range wireless implant devices does not take into account the human body as a channel itself, which causes additional losses to wireless designs. In this paper, we examine the propagation through the human body, including losses taken from bones, muscles, fat, and clothes, which results in a more accurate characterization and estimation of the channel. The results obtained from our simulation indicates a variation of the return loss of the spiral antenna when a tumor is located near the implant. This knowledge can be applied in medical detection, and monitoring of early tumors, by analyzing the electromagnetic field behavior of the implant. The tumor was modeled under CST Microwave Studio, using Wisconsin Diagnosis Breast Cancer Dataset. Features like the radius, texture, perimeter, area, and smoothness of the tumor are included along with their label data to determine whether the external shape has malignant or benign physiognomies. An explanation of the feasibility of the system deployment and technical recommendations to avoid interference is also described.

  • In this study, we fabricated transparent resistive strain sensor by embedding silver nanowire in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate to sense the finger bending motion electrically. Using bluetooth as wireless data transfer system, strain data was transferred to computer and smart phone application enabling near field communication. Additionally, we made a program translating resistance change by finger motion strain to save images and confirmed that it worked at application and computer.

  • There are many researches on human effect by electromagnetic equipments and applications. However, most of research and guidelines for limiting human exposure to electromagnetic fields are established by mobile communication of SAR(Specific Absorption Ratio). Therefore we need to study different effects on human body when exposed to high frequency(HF) band equipments, such as human induced current etc. In this paper, we measured human induced current by RFID reader antenna of HF band in the near field and we propose human equivalent antenna which has orthogonal loops to each other. Then, we compared the induced currents on proposed equivalent antenna with human.

  • The weight of the story in the field of animation that is developed in digital and network is increasing gradually. It occurs not only in animation but several related fields. It shows the potential and needs of animation education based on the story. In this research several literary studies were conducted to identify essential factors of the story-telling in the animation story board production. To visualize the contents in details for the first time, we tried to find the intention of the producer of the animation story board and the work's depth by researching the role and production process in animation story board which applies all of the productions. The important visual factors in producing the animation will be the subjects of the research in near future, and the studies as the important communication art will be carried out by developing the visual and creativeness of the expressions.

  • IoT(Internet of Things) has become a major issue as new type of convergence technology, expending existing of USNs(Ubiquitous Sensor Networks), NFC(Near Field Communication), and M2M(Machine to Machine). The IoT technology defines as a networking for things, which can establish intelligent links collaboratively for sensing networking and processing between each other without human intervention. The purpose of this study is to investigate to forecast the future distribution changes and orientation of contribution of distribution industry on IoT and to provide the implication of distribution changes. To become a global market leader, IoT requires much more development of core technology of IoT for distribution industry, new service creation and try to use a market-based demand side strategy to create markets. So, to become a global leader in distribution industry, this study results show that first of all establishment of standardization of IoT, privacy safeguards, security issues, stability and value were more important than others. The research findings suggest that the development goals of IoT should strive to boost the creation of a global leader in distribution industry and convenience to consider consumers' demands as the most important thing.

  • U-Publication, the Tag-Embedded publication, is one of U-Media. U-Media is defined as a media where human creates and consumes content through not only human cognitive and perceptual processes but also through the interactions between surrounding digital systems. U-Media provides information by generating, collecting, and attaching the content itself and the related information based on the interaction of the bio-systems incorporating digital information and devices embedded in humans, and surrounding objects including external digital devices. Using U-Publication, readers consume its content not only in offline but also online through a mobile RFID reader which touches and connects the URLs embedded in the RFID tags attached to it. Readers can consume the additional content though the hyperlinks attached to U-Publication and perform commercial activity as well as consumer the printed content. This paper defines the RFID-Tagged publication, proposes its related business models, and evaluates the alternative business models through a simulation study.

  • Location-based services (LBS) are used in various applications such as emergency support, navigation, location, traffic routes, information gathering, and entertainment due to the rapid growth of information communication technologies and mobile phones. In general, locations are represented by coordinates and are related to terrain. These are of great interest in mobile-based data transmission. This paper proposes a method to exchange the contact of the other party by detecting the movement of the mobile phone of the individual user based on the location-based service. The proposed method extracts motion using the acceleration sensor of the mobile phone and transmits the location and time information to the server when the motion continues for a predetermined time. Attempts to establish a connection between users who are experiencing motion in mobile phones in the short distance have been made from the server. Once the connection between the users is made, the encrypted contact is received from the server. Experimental results show that the proposed method can exchange data by minimizing the processing in the handset compared with the existing method.

  • The aim of this research is to design and analyze a social network service model using mobile RFID based business card. This paper suggests how the behavior of exchanging business cards will be changed in ubiquitous environment and designs a social networking service model using a ubiquitous business card, which embeds a RFID tag. We describe the scenarios and analyze a role, value and potential benefits of participants of the u-SNS service model. For the proof of the superiority and the feasibility of our model, we compare it with its related researches and products based on the calculation of the benefits and costs of the alternatives.

  • Digital contents is used already in near place with us. Contents of MPEG-4 standard is used to process multimedia data in field of communication, computer, broadcasting mobile etc. However, absence of copyright management and protection system and interoperability problem of right system between each corporation happened. Because MPEG establish IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection) system standard in agreement with MPEG-4 system standard, proposed cooperation method to manage and protect copyright. Accordingly, in this paper, put in copyright of authorized contents management and protection extension system implementation adding MPEG-4 IPMP system like plug-in into existing MPEG-4 authorizing tool. Therefore, author edits IPMP information to protect contents or object, and process the information in system and authorize MPEG-4 digital contents that have management and protection sign according to IPMP standard. This system designed and implemented to divided into IPMP information save processor, IPMP information creation processor, media IPPM processor, XMT-A to MP4 converter IPMP extension.
