  • The part I was for developing regression models to predict the moisture content, protein content and viscosity of brown and milled rice using Near Infrared(NIR) Reflectance analyzer. The purpose of this study(part II) is to measure fundamental data required for the prediction of rice quality, and to develop regression models to predict the protein content of brown and milled rice, brown rice yield from undried paddy powder by using Near Infrared(NIR) Reflectance analyzer. The results of this study were summarized as follows : The predicted values of protein contents obtained from the undried paddy powder were well correlated to the measured values from brown and milled rice. The predicted yields of brown rice from undried paddy powder were not well correlated to the lab measured values from dried paddy. Continuous study in wavelength selection and of constituent relationship is necessary for practical application.

  • To measure the moisture content, protein and viscosity of brown and milled rice with Near Infrared Reflectance(NIR) analyzer, the comparison and analysis of the data from the chemical analysis and NIR analyzer were conducted. The purpose of this study is to find out the fundamental data required for the prediction of rice qualify and taste rank, and to develop a measuring method of constituents and physical characteristics of domestic rice with NIR analyzer. The important results can be summarized as follows. 1. The $r^2$ and SEC of moisture calibration from brown rice powder were 0.87 and 0.09 respectively, those of milled rice powder were 0.95 and 0.08 respectively. 2. The $r^2$ and SEC of protein calibration from brown rice powder were 0.83 and 0.20 respectively, those of milled rice powder were 0.86 and 0.20 respectively. 3. The $r^2$ and SEC of viscosity calibration from brown rice powder were 0.36 and 15.50 respectively, those of milled rice powder were 0.55 and 12.98 respectively. Further study is required to develop better prediction model for viscosity. It is necessary the continuous study including wavelength selection, because $r^2$ is small for practical use. 4. The regression equation for one rice variety was nearly coincident with other. Therefore, it is required that the prediction model should be developed for the all rice samples.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop to portable near infrared analyzer measuring the sugar content of the fruits on a tree before harvesting ones. The portable near infrared system consists of a tungsten lamp, a coaxial optical fiber bundle and a multi-channel detector, which has 256 pixels and a concave transmission grating. Reflectance NIR spectra of orange were recorded by using a coaxial optical fiber bundle. The spectra were collected over the spectral range $400{\sim}1100nm$. Partial least squares regression(PLSR) was applied for a calibration and validation for determination of sugar contents. The multiple correlation coefficient was 0.99 and standard errors of calibration(SEC) was 0.069 brix. The calibration model predicted the sugar content for validation set with standard errors of prediction(SEP) of 0.092 brix. The sugar content in fruits was successfully quantified using the portable near infrared analyzer.

Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy for Non-Invasive Measuring of Internal Quality of Apple Fruit

  • In this study, we investigated the feasibility of non-destructive determination of internal quality factors of Fuji apple fruit using near infrared(NIR) reflectance spectroscopy and developed the calibration models. As the reference methods, refractometer, titration and texture analyzer for sugar content, acidity and firmness were used, respectively. Samples were scanned from 1100∼2500nm with InfraAlyzer 500C spectrometer and SESAME software was used for data analysis. A multiple linear regression(MLR) analysis was performed to develop the calibrations. The correlation coefficient(R) and standard error of prediction(SEP) were as follows; 0.91, 0.41$^{\circ}$Brix for sugar content, 0.90, 0.04% for acidity and 0.84, 0.094 kg for firmness, respectively. This study shows that NIR spectroscopy can be used to evaluate the sugar content acidity and firmness of apple fruit with acceptable accuracy.

  • 국내산 후지 사과의 주요 내부 품질 요인인 당도, 수분 함량, 경도 및 산 함량을 근적외 분광분석법에 의해 동시에 신속, 정확하게 비파괴 측정할 수 있는지의 가능성을 조사하였다. 굴절당도계에 의한 당도, 동결 건조법에 의한 수분 함량, texture analyzer에 의한 경도 및 알칼리 적정법에 의해 얻어진 산 함량 데이터와 근적외 영역의 흡광도 데이터 사이에 각각 중회귀분석을 행한 결과, 당도, 수분 함량, 경도 및 산 함량의 측정 오차(SEP)는 각각 $0.50^{\circ}Brix,\;0.64%,\;0.14kg/cm^2$ 및 0.07%이었다. 이로서 근적외 분광 분석법을 응용하여 사과의 당도와 수분 함량은 비파괴적으로 신속, 정확하게 측정 가능함을 알 수 있었으나, 경도와 산 함량의 측정 정확도는 다소 낮은 편이었다.

The Use of Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) for Broiler Carcass Analysis

  • NIRS uses reflectance signals resulting from bending and stretching vibrations in chemical bonds between carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur and oxygen. These reflectance signals are used to measure the concentration of major chemical composition and other descriptors of homogenized and freeze-dried whole broiler carcasses. Six strains of chicken were analyzed and the NIRS model predictions compared to reference data. The results of this comparison indicate that NIRS is a rapid tool for predicting dry matter (DM), fat, crude protein (CP) and ash content in the broiler carcass. Males and females of six commercial strain crosses of broiler chicken (Gallus domesticus) were used in this study (6$\times$2 factorial design). Each strain was grown to 16 weeks of age, and duplicate serial samples were taken for body composition analysis. Each whole carcass was pressure-cooked, homogenized, and a representative sample was freeze-dried. Body composition determined as follows: DM by oven dried method at 105$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours, fat by Mojonnier diethyl ether extraction, CP by measuring nitrogen content using an auto-analyzer with Kjeldhal digest and ash by combustion in a muffle furnace for 24 hour at 55$0^{\circ}C$. These homogenized and freeze-dried carcass samples were then scanned with a Foss NIR Systems 6500 visible-NIR spectrophotometer (400-2500nm) (Foss NIR Systems, Silver Spring, MD., US) using Infra-Soft-International, ISI, WinISl software (ISI, Port Matilda, US). The NIRS spectra were analyzed using principal component (PC) analysis. This data was corrected for scatter using standard normal “Variate” and “Detrend” technique. The accuracy of the NIRS calibration equations developed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) for predicting major chemical composition and carcass descriptors- such as body mass (BM), bird dry matter and moisture content was tested using cross validation. Discrimination analysis was also used for sex and strain identification. According to Dr John Shenk, the creator of the ISI software, the calibration equations with the correlation coefficient, $R^2$, between reference data and NIRS predicted results of above 0.90 is excellent and between 0.70 to 0.89 is a good quantifying guideline. The excellent calibration equations for DM ($R^2$= 0.99), fat (0.98) and CP (0.92) and a good quantifying guideline equation for ash (0.80) were developed in this study. The results of cross validation statistics for carcass descriptors, body composition using reference methods, inter-correlation between carcass descriptors and NIRS calibration, and the results of discrimination analysis for sex and strain identification will also be presented in the poster. The NIRS predicted daily gain and calculated daily gain from this experiment, and true daily gain (using data from another experiment with closely related broiler chicken from each of the six strains) will also be discussed in the paper.

  • 근적외 이용 토양분석기에 의한 토양수분, 유기물, 전질소 측정과 그 외 토양의 여러 가지 이화학 성분에 대한 측정결과를 검토하였다. 토양시료를 몰탈로 갈아서 토양입자를 0.2mm의 체를 통과시킨 140점의 토양시료를 85점은 근적외 토양분석기의 표준곡선을 작성하고 나머지 55점의 토양시료는 표준곡선을 이용하여 추정한 토양의 이화학성 중에서 토양수분, 토양 pH, 유기물, 전질소 CEC, 치환성 Ca, Mg, K 및 유효규산함량은 근적외 토양분석기로 동시에 추정할 수 있어 시비처방을 위한 토양의 비옥도를 판정하는데 유용하게 이용할 수 있을것으로 생각된다.

  • 연질밀(Triticum aestivum L. em Thell.)로서 soft white spring(SWS) 밀과 soft white winter(SWW) 각각 10품종(또는 계통)을 공시재료로하여 종실의 이화학적 품질특성, 제분특 성, 호화특성, mixograph특성 및 sugar-snap cookie의 제조특성을 측정하고 이들 특성간의 상관관계를 구명하고자 일연의 실험을 실시한 바 그 결과를 보고한다. Single Kernel Characterization System(SKCS) kernel hard-ness와 용적중, near-infrared reflectance(NIR) hardness와는 각각 $r=0.947^{*},\;r=0.495^{*}$의 정의 상관이 있었으며 SKCS weight와 SKCS size와는 $r=0.942^{**}$의 고도의 정의 상관이 있었다. 용적중과 straight-grade flour yield, break flour yield, 밀가루 회분 함량 및 제분평점과는 각각 $r=0.720^{**},\;r=0.490^{*},\;r=-0.781^{**}$$r=0.838^{**}$ 의 고도의 정 또는 부의 상관이 있었다. 종실의 단백질 함량과 straight-grade flour yield, break flour yield 밀가루 회분 함량 및 제분평점은 각 각 $r=-0.786^{**},\;r=-0.765^{**},\;r=-0.889^{**}$$r=-0.938^{**}$로 서 고도의 정 또는 부의 상관이 있었으며 이와 같은 현상은 밀가루 단백질 함량에서 동일한 결과를 보였다. Mixograph 흡수을과 제분특성과는 고도의 정 또는 부의 상관이 있었으며, 특히 종실의 단백질 함량과는 $r=0.938^{**}$, 밀가루의 단백질 함량과는 $r=0.901^{**}$의 고도의 정의 상관이 있었다. Cookie 직경과 cookie top grain score는 $r=0.946^{**}$의 고도의 정의 상관이 있었다. Cookie특성과 제분특성, 단백질 함량 및 mixograph 흡수율과는 고도의 정 또는 부의 상관이 있었으나 전분특성과는 단지 swelling volume과 cookie top grain score 만이 $r=0.447^{*}$의 정의 상관이 있었다.

  • 액상환원법을 통하여 출발 물질인 질산은 용액으로부터 환원 용매인 DMF와 환원제 및 계면활성제 역할을 하는 PVP를 이용하여 여러 합성 조건에서 균일하면서 적당한 크기의 은 나노판상체를 합성하고자 하였다. 합성 시료 및 필름시편들의 특성들은 SEM, TEM, UV-Vis-NIR 분광법, PSA 및 XRD를 사용하여 비교 조사하였다. 질산은 용액과 DMF에 26 wt%의 PVP가 첨가된 반응물을 $70^{\circ}C$에서 72 h 동안 반응하여 합성한 시료에는 약 100~200 nm 크기의 삼각형판상체들로 존재하였고, 약 1,000 nm에서 최대 흡수 피크를 나타내므로 근적외선을 가장 잘 반사시키는 시료로 예측하였다. 필름용 코팅액에서 은 나노판상체의 함유량이 증가하거나 이의 크기가 증가되면, 필름 시편의 투과율은 떨어지고 반사율은 높아지는 경향을 나타내었다.
