Since the AESA radar scans and tracks a distant targets or ground, it requires a test field which meets far-field condition before flight test. In order to test beam foaming, targeting, and availability from cluttering and jamming, it is general to build a outdoor roof-lab test site at tens of meters high. However, the site is affected by surrounding terrain, weather, and noise wave and is also requires time, space, and a lot of costs. In order to solve this problem, theoretical near-field beam foaming method has proposed. However, it requires modification of associated hardware in order to construct near-field test configuration. In this paper, we propose near-field beam foaming method which use single LUT in order to calibrate the variation of TRM(transmit-receive module) which consists AESA radar without modification of associated hardware and software. It requires less costs than far-field test and multiple LUT based near-field test, nevertheless it can derives similar experimental results.

In this paper, the dual parabolic cylindrical reflector systems are analyzed as the reflector system for the CATR(Compact Antenna Test Range) facility. The near-field at the test zone of the CATR is calculated by using the PO(Physical Optics) approximation. The CATR has to provide an uniform plane wave with the minimum amplitude and phase ripple and the low cross polarization. Therefore, in this paper, the near-field pattern are calculated, and the ripple and taper of the field and the cross polarization are investigated with the position of the subreflector and the test region. It is confirmed that the analysis results can be used for the design of the CATR with the dual parabolic cylindrical reflector.

In this paper, a performance analysis of waveguide broad-wall slot array antenna for millimeter-wave seeker in Ka-band was performed as using near-field measurement. The measurement of slot array antenna was conducted in both far-field and near-field. And the validation of near-field test in millimeter band was confirmed. It was confirmed that the beam pattern characteristics including beam width and side lobe level of the slot array antenna that performed the verification were the same. Differenced in the side lobe level of azimuth and elevation beam pattern were verified to be less than 1dB. Additionally, the new antenna aperture distribution was extracted as using back-projection method modifying the near-field data and then introduced the method conducting performance analysis of array antenna.

In this study, we propose a verification method for a planar-phased array radar system using a near-field beam focusing(NFBF) test method. We then confirmed the validity of the results. The proposed method can be used to verify a radar system in the near-field range of twice the antenna aperture size, and this is done in the same manner as the field system performance test conducted in a non-outdoor electromagnetic anechoic chamber. The test configuration and procedure for verifying the NFBF using near-field energies were reviewed. In addition, the phase compensation values of additional individual channels were quantified through mathematical verification of the beam-steered NFBF test. Based on a theoretical verification, the actual NFBF test was performed and the validity of the test method was confirmed through comparison with ideal analytical results.
Recent earthquakes have shown that near-field earthquakes can produce spectral demands significantly larger than those considered in current design code. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has recently initiated a coordinated research program on safety significance of near-field earthquakes. The purpose of this program is to focus on the assessment of vulnerability of nuclear facility structures by using and adapting the best available engineering practices appropriate to evaluate the effects of near-field earthquakes. The objective of this paper is to evaluate of seismic responses of a shear building test specimen subjected to near-filed earthquakes. To achieve the objective, the seismic responses of the test specimen, evaluated by the Displacement Coefficient Method (DCM) and Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis (NDA), are compared with those by the experimental tests.

In this paper, we evaluated shielding effectiveness (SE) of carbon nanotube (CNT) film using near field scanning (NFS) in near field analysis. We adopted CNT film with deposit carbon density of 5% and thickness of 1mm for evaluation of shielding characteristic. Using a test coupon analogized to an actual IC package, we measured SE according to measuring position and SE according to distances between the CNT film and the test coupon. As a result, the measured SE in the near field varied with frequency. Especially, the measured electric field SE in the center of the test coupon is better than that of the measured edge point of the test coupon where it is affected by fringing effect. The results show that the measured SE in the near field is affected not only by frequency but also by measurement environment such as position and height of the probe and height of shielding film. In conclusion, we should choose proper methods for SE measurement considering interference distance in the electronic control system because there is little correlation between the proposed evaluation method in the near field and ASTM D 4935-10.

We have tried to enhance the density of the near-field optical memory and to improve the recording/readout speed. The current optical memory has the limitation in both density and speed. This barrier due to the far-field nature can be overcome by the use of the near-field$^{(1)}$ . The optical data storage density can be increased by reducing the size of the nanometric aperture where the near-field is obtained. To fabricate the aperture in precise dimension, we applied the orientation-dependent / anisotropic etching property of crystal Si often employed in the field of MEMS$^{(2)}$ . And so we fabricated the 10$\times$10 aperture array. This array will be also the indispensable part for speeding up. One will see the possibility of the multi-tracking pickup in the phase changing type memory through this array$^{(3)}$ . This aperture array will be expected to write the bit-mark whose size is about 100nm. We will show the recent result obtained. (omitted)
In the past decades, effect of near field earthquake on the historical monuments has attracted the attention of researchers. So, many analyses in this regard have been presented. Tunnels as vital arteries play an important role in management after the earthquake crisis. However, digging tunnels and seismic effects of earthquake on the historical monuments have always been a challenge between engineers and historical supporters. So, in a case study, effect of near field earthquake on the historical monument was investigated. For this research, Finite Element Analysis (FEM) in soil environment and soil-structure interaction was used. In Plaxis 2D software, different accelerograms of near field earthquake were applied to the geometric definition. Analysis validations were performed based on the previous numerical studies. Creating a nonlinear relationship with space parameter, time, angular and numerical model outputs was of practical and critical importance. Hence, artificial Neural Network (ANN) was used and two linear layers and Tansig function were considered. Accuracy of the results was approved by the appropriate statistical test. Results of the study showed that buildings near and far from the tunnel had a special seismic behavior. Scattering of seismic waves on the underground tunnels on the adjacent buildings was influenced by their distance from the tunnel. Finally, a static test expressed optimal convergence of neural network and Plaxis.

The importance of stealth technology is increasing in modern warfare, and Radar Cross Section(RCS) is widely used as an indicator of stealth technology. It is useful to measure RCS using an image-based near-field to far-field transformation algorithm in short-range monostatic conditions. However, the near-field measurement system requires a longer measurement time compared to other methods. In this work, it is proposed to reduce the measured data using an interpolation method in azimuth angular domain. The calculated far-field RCS values according to the sampling rate is shown, and the performance of the algorithm applied with interpolation in the angular domain is presented. It is shown that measurement samples can be reduced several times by using the redundancy in the angular domain while producing results similar to the conventional method.
This paper discusses the near field characteristics of a dipole source located near conducting metallic walls from an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) point of view. An integral equation for a dipole source near a metallic wall is derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments (MoM). The results show that in the regions outside the dipole source, total electric near fields decrease gradually in magnitude with an increasing field point from the dipole source. But in the regions inside the dipole source, total electric near fields decrease rapidly with a dipole position of $h{\leq}0.3{\lambda}$. For a dipole position of $h{\geq}0.7{\lambda}$, the peaks and nulls of the total near electric field occur periodically in the regions inside the dipole source, and the fluctuation period is almost $0.5{\lambda}$. The worst position for a receptor location is along the z-axis, and a range of a half-magnitude of the maximum near electric field in the principal H-plane is about two times broader than that of the principal E-plane. Experimental measurements are also presented to validate the theory.
