This article presented a comprehensive model to study static buckling stability and associated mode-shapes of higher shear deformation theories of sandwich laminated composite beam under the compression of varying axial load function. Four higher order shear deformation beam theories are considered in formulation and analysis. So, the model can consider the influence of both thick and thin beams without needing to shear correction factor. The compression force can be described through axial direction by uniform constant, linear and parabolic distribution functions. The Hamilton's principle is exploited to derive equilibrium governing equations of unified sandwich laminated beams. The governing equilibrium differential equations are transformed to algebraic system of equations by using numerical differential quadrature method (DQM). The system of equations is solved as an eigenvalue problem to get critical buckling loads and their corresponding mode-shapes. The stability of DQM in determining of buckling loads of sandwich structure is performed. The validation studies are achieved and the obtained results are matched with those. Parametric studies are presented to figure out effects of in-plane load type, sandwich thickness, fiber orientation and boundary conditions on buckling loads and mode-shapes. The present model is important in designing process of aircraft, naval structural components, and naval structural when non-uniform in-plane compressive loading is dominated.

Performance of a NACA 634-021 hydrofoil in motion under and in close proximity of a free surface for a large range of angles of attack is studied. Lift and drag coefficients of the hydrofoil at different submergence depths are investigated both numerically and experimentally, for 0° ≤ AoA ≤ 30° at a Reynolds number of 105. The results of the numerical study are in good agreement with the experimental results. The agreement confirms the new finding that for a submerged hydrofoil operating at high angles of attack close to a free surface, the interaction between the hydrofoil-motion induced waves on the free surface and the hydrofoil results in mitigation of the flow separation characteristics on the suction side of the foil and delay in stall, and improvement in hydrofoil performance. In comparing with a baseline case, results suggest a 55% increase in maximum lift coefficient and 90% average improvement in performance for, based on the lift-to-drag ratio, but it is also observed significant decrease of lift-to-drag ratio at lower angles of attack. Flow details obtained from combined finite volume and volume of fluid numerical methods provide insight into the underlying enhancement mechanism, involving interaction between the hydrofoil and the free surface.

The ROK Navy operates many war ships despite its short history. Various types of war ships, such as submarines, destroyers, frigates, corvette etc., use suitable propulsion systems for the operational requirements of each war ship. A hybrid propulsion system was introduced to change from the current mechanical propulsion system to an electric propulsion system according to the changing patterns of naval warfare, and it is expected that an integrated electric propulsion system will also be introduced. Therefore, this paper investigates the propulsion system of major ships operated by the Korean Navy, predicts the changes in future naval warfare, and proposes a propulsion system for future ships.
The Korean naval weapon systems, combat experiments establish the concept of Battle operations, and create the future of the new weapons system. Doctrine development and training as well as ranging from experiments for evaluate the performance of mission operations for combat experiments are used. The battle lab is effectively support tool for the Korean Naval battle experiments. The battle lab is through a dedicated testing facility and to build efficient and effective simulation-based acquisition supporting environment. In this paper, the ship / submarines C2 operations virtual simulator was developed to support the concept of Battle operations of naval combat experiments in training and tactical development. The ship C2 operations virtual simulator makes the anti-ship and anti-aircraft the engagement scenario for performed experiments using the SADM. The submarines C2 operations virtual simulator makes the anti-submarine engagement scenario for performed experiments using EAS. EAS System was created before reuse. EAS system by modifying the additional interfaces HLA-RTI has been reused. Reflected in the tactics and training after analysis of the results through the battle experiment. Also increase training fidelity through operator involvement. The anti-ship and anti-aircraft system architecture (SADM) and anti-submarine system architecture (EAS) requires unique design of system framework since two separate architectures should be integrated into a system. An C2 virtual linked architecture was used to integrate different system architecture. A C2 virtual linked software framework, designed that have integrated protocol for battle experimental linkage and battlefield visualization environment.
In this paper, a plan to expand the scale of the domestic MRO industry was proposed by finding the technical common points between the aviation MRO and naval vessel MRO industries. The aviation MRO industry is led by Europe, North America, and Singapore. Europe and North America have very large aviation industries. The reason for the development of the MRO industry in Singapore is that the aviation MRO and ship MRO industries gathered to expand the industrial scale. The MRO field is an industry that spans all fields from research & development, production, manufacturing, operation, disposal, and crew training. The MRO industry is divided into military and civilian use. However, most of them are only differences in the needs of users, and there are no significant technical differences. The weapon system used by the military is steadily developing. It is impossible for the military to maintain all equipment at a time when troops are reduced. For that reason, it is necessary to share roles in each field. There is a need for an MRO industry in which civil and military operations cooperate to maintain all weapon systems at optimal performance. And the MRO industry development should be based on the civil market. The scale of the MRO industry should be expanded by gathering equipment commonly used in aircraft and naval vessels. This can increase military availability and reduce maintenance budgets.

The main purpose of this article is to provide an understanding on current maritime issues in the Northeast Asia, and thereby help formulating the right strategy for our national security. The article summarizes core arguments in the recently published 『The 21st Century Maritime Strategies in the Northeast Asia: Dilemma between Competition and Cooperation』. It will help readers to comprehend historical backgrounds as well as recent updates related to maritime issues and strategies in the region. Also, readers may find guidance to conceive their own maritime strategies for the Republic of Korea. Currently, the U.S. is shifting its focus from Atlantic to Pacific, and increasing its naval presence in Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, the 21st century China views the maritime interests as the top priority in its national security and prosperity. PLA Navy's offensive maritime strategies and naval building such as aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines are unprecedented. Japan is another naval power in the region. During the Cold War JMSDF faithfully fulfilled the mission of deterring Soviet navy, and now it is doing its job against China. Lastly, Putin has been emphasizing to build the strong Russia since 2000, and putting further efforts to reinforce current naval capabilities of Pacific Fleet. The keyword in the naval and maritime relations among these powers can be summarized with "competition and cooperation." The recent security developments in the South China Sea(SCS) clearly represent each state's strategic motivations and movements. China shows clear and strong intention to nationalize the islands in SCS by building artificial facilities - possibly military purpose. Obviously, the U.S. strongly opposes China by insisting the freedom of navigation(FON) in international waters as recent USS-Lassen's FON operation indicate. The conflict between China and the U.S. surrounding the SCS seems to be heading towards climax as Russia and Japan are searching for their own national interests within the conflict. Also, the neighboring small and middle powers are calculating their own economic and security interests. This is no exception for us in establishing timely strategies to maximize our own national security. Hopefully, this article leads the readers to the right direction.

Along with the increase in global volume of goods, logistics companies are trying to reduce costs by increasing the size of ships carrying cargo, increasing the efficiency of quantitative equipment at ports, and unmanned electric vehicles on land. Korean naval ports are also facing the same situation as the global trend. In the past, small and medium-sized ships such as FF, PCC, and beheaded eagles are being retired for their longevity, and their positions are being replaced by large ships such as KDX, FFG, and LST-II. In particular, large ships such as Dokdo and the next light aircraft carriers are also being prepared. Unlike general merchant ships, naval ships require periodic inspections and preventive maintenance, so repair piers such as maintenance depots are in operation. The naval maintenance depot mainly uses trailers, trucks, and truck-type cranes to carry out loading and unloading of heavy ships, and the application or development of automation and unmanned equipment performed by the private sector is inadequate, and self-improvement cases are also very weak. This study aims to improve the efficiency of the military logistics system through research on the logistics system such as transport, storage and unloading of heavy goods and maintenance products of naval ships.

This paper surveys some existing direct adaptive feedback control schemes for linear time-invariant systems with actuator failures characterized by the failure pattern that some inputs are stuck at some unknown fixed or varying values at unknown time instants, and applications of those schemes to aircraft flight control system models. Controller structures, plant-model matching conditions, and adaptive laws to update controller parameters are investigated for the following cases for continuous-time systems: state tracking using state feed-back, output tracking using state feedback, and output tracking using output feedback. In addition, a discrete-time output tracking design using output feedback is presented. Robustness of this design with respect to unmodeled dynamics and disturbances is addressed using a modified robust adaptive law.

Recently, various kinds of study on light weight structure are performing in the world. The Al honeycomb sandwich structural type adopt for improvement of lightness and structural stability to major part structure of aircraft or spacecraft. Adhesion badness properties of adhesive and adhesion properties of fillet mainly studied about al honeycomb structure. But study for adhesive properties of sandwich construction with surface treatment of Aluminum alloy barely performed. In this study, adhesive film was used between Al and honeycomb core of honeycomb panel[1]. The study for adhesive properties of sandwich construction with surface treatment of AA 5052 skin was performed.
The objective of this paper is to show how team study can be advanced with the aid of a current computer technology, that is distributed Artificial Intelligence(DAI). Studying distributed problem solving by using groups of artificial agents, DAI can provide important ideas and techniques for the study of team behaviors like team decision making. To demonstrate the usefulness of DAI models as team research tools, a DAI model called 'Team-Soar' was built and a simulation experiment done with the model was introduced, Here, Team-Soar models a naval command and control team consisting of four members whose mission was to identify the threat level of aircraft. The simulation experiment was performed to examine the relationships of team decision scheme and member incompetence with team performance. Generally, the results of the Team-Soar simulation met expectations and confirmed previous findings in the literature. For example, the results support the existence of main and interaction effects of team decision scheme and member competence on team performance. Certain results of the Team-Soar simulation provide new insights about team decision making, which can be tested against human subjects or empirical data.
