Growth and development of a higher plant, or any living organism for that matter, could be defined as an orderly expression of the genome in time and space in close interaction with the environment. During differentiation and development of a tissue or organ a group of genes must be selectively turned on or turned off mainly by trans-acting regulators. In this general concept of regulation of regulation of gene expression, a DNA molecule is recognized at a specific nucleotide sequence by DNA-binding factors. Molecular biology of the regulatory factors such as hormones, and their receptors, target DNA sequences and DNA-binding proteins are well advanced. What is not clearly understood is the molecular basis of the interactions between DNA and binding factors, expecially of the usages of the dyad symmetry of the target DNA sequences and the dimeric nature of the DNA-binding proteins. A unique 3-dimensional structure of DNA has been proposed that may play an important role in the orderly expression of the gene. A foldback intercoil (FBI) DNA configuration which was originally found by electron microscopy among mtDNA molecules from pearl millet has some unique features. The FBI configuration of DNA is believed to be formed when a flexible double helix folds back and interwines in the widened major grooves resulting in a four stranded, intercoil DNA whose thickness is the same as that of double stranded DNA. More recently, the FBI structure of DNA has been also induced in vitro by a novel enzyme which was purified from pearl millet mitochondria. It has been proposed that the FBI DNA could be utillized in intramolecular recombination which leads to inversion or deletion, and in intermolecular recombination which can lead to either site-specific recombination, genetic recombination via single strand invasion, or cross strand recombination. The structure and function of DNA in 3-dimensional aspect is emphasized for better understanding orderly expression of genes during growth and development.
The nature of port logistics requires global visibility and traceability. However, the traditional RFID technology still applied cannot meet these demands. IP-USN and M2M in port logistics have faced challenges of the prerequisite of network composition and immense communications at the base where a grand number of containers are installed. To resolve the issue, this study suggests an IP-RFID-based smart port logistics service platform. The IP-RFID-based port logistics service system resolved the communication problem by separating the RFID tag and AP, which allows internet connection, from the tag. The tags connected with thermo-sensors, humidity sensors, pressure sensors, GPS, etc. are attached to the containers insuring global visibility and traceability, key factors in logistics, by obtaining desired real-time information regardless of time and location.
This study aimed to examine the effect of management by objectives(MBO) and job commitment on the nursing performance of operating room(OR) nurses. The study was conducted on 226 OR nurses from tertiary healthcare institutions in Seoul. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the effect of OR nurses on nursing performance. In results, the factors that affect the nursing performance of OR nurses included the concreteness of goals, job commitment, and measurability of objectives in that order, and these variables explained 25.9% of the nursing performance. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of the nursing work, it is necessary to make efforts to create a work environment where nursing can be carried out due to the nature of the nursing operation. In addition, it is essential to develop a strategy to further the influence of the concreteness and measurability of goals among other attributes, thereby enhancing the job performance of OR nurses.
The Korean National Commission for Unesco has helped Korean Unesco Associated Schools undertake environmental studies within the framework of education for international understanding, cooperation and peace from 1991 - 1993. The environmental studies enjoyed participation by nine Associated Schools among 35 throughout the country, with each school on a different theme each year. Environmental studies by the Unesco Associated Schools are differentiated from those by the former continues to work on environmental or Provincial Boards of Education. The former continues to work on environmental education, longer than 1 - 2 years, and they can also capitalize on the international networks of the ASP, which may be instrumental to understanding the worldwide nature of the environmental issues these days. This paper contains a breif explanation of the cases of environmental studies by level of education from primary to teacher education level. It is argued that through the study, the students of Unesco Associated Schools well recognize the seriousness of environmental problems facing mankind and will have positive attitudes and values towards the preservation of our environment. It is also argued that the studies result in a variety of useful teaching/learning methods for environmental education: students visit to polluted areas. survey, composition of works with environmental themes such as posters, poems, organization of discussion by the students on environmental problems, exhibition, international correspondence, etc. The studies also have produced various helpful reaching/learning materials : photos, slides, scrapbooks of articles on environmental issues from newspapers, etc. However, several problems also emerged through the studies. A few of them are described here ; First, focus on the extra-curricula activity rather than regular curricula results in the neglect of the knowledge base of environmental education. Second, only a part of the all 35 Associated Schools have participated in the project. Third, primary and first secondary students have difficulty in using foreign language which is vital for international activities.
The Water Environmental Education Program Using Streams(WEES) is developed to help the teachers increase their professionalism of incorporating a local environment into their inquiry teaching. The purpose of this study is inquiry about the 'Baig Cheon' stream with the perspective of environmental studies for WEES. Through these studies, we tried to get the background information in 'Baig Cheon' and profound insights into application of WEES. The 'Baig Cheon' was examined from the perspective of environmental studies through literature study, field study, and water quality monitoring. The results revealed the characteristics of the 'Baig Cheon' that ran across a rural area in terms of the watershed boundaries, water systems, and water usage. The changes to the water quality items were observed according to the spatial distribution at the measuring points across the watershed for six months from March to August, 2007. The results indicate that the water quality of the 'Baig Cheon' could well be affected not only by the natural and environmental conditions such as the geological features, but also by the human activities including the land uses in the surrounding roads, rice fields and farms and the water supply and usage. The inquiry of the 'Baig Cheon' from the perspective of environmental studies will hopefully make the education and inquiry process of WEES more meaningful and in-depth and contribute to providing better environmental education that properly reflects the nature of inquiry from the perspective of environmental studies.

We analyze the problem that is occurring when using parity mode transformation required for 9 bit serial communication under Linux environment and propose the solution. The parity mode change is used for 9 bit serial communication in the Linux that by nature supports only 8 bit serial communication. delay (around OS tick) arises. Our analysis shows that the cause is minimum length of waiting time to transmit data remained in Tx FIFO buffers. A modified Linux serial driver proposed in this paper decreases the delay less than 1ms by using accurate time delaying. Despite various system communication interfaces, enormous existing standards and system have adopted RS-232 serial communication, and the part of them have communicated by 9bit serial.
The purpose of this research is to identify the everyday life culture, housing satisfaction and housing importance of older Korean-Chinese living in Harbin, China. Social survey research using the questionnaire was conducted from August to October in 2011. A total of 94 usable samples were analyzed by the SPSS version the 18.0 statistical program using frequency, percentage, cross-tabulation, factor analysis, and Pearson's correlation. The major findings were as follows. Firstly, older Chinese in Harbin were assimilated into Chinese culture such as national holidays and respectful people, but acculturated in terms of their daily food, and their preference to live in a Korean-Chinese village. Secondly, they had mainly lived in multi-story houses, the so called Chinese-style apartments. The average size of their living space was $80.33m^2$ and they were usually unsatisfied with their neighbors and floor treatment lacking Ondol(溫突). Thirdly, 5 factors affecting on housing value orientation were 'physical characteristics','emotional characteristics', 'economic characteristics', 'social characteristics', 'neighbor characteristics/reputation of the house' and they explained 73.9%. 2 factors affecting on housing satisfaction were 'inner complex/inner space' and 'neighborhood environment' and they explained 69.4%. In conclusion, some policy is needed for Korean Chinese living in Harbin for their well-being when it comes to their housing needs and conditions. Given the nature of big city, Harbin and its attraction, younger Korean-Chinese tend to be rapidly assimilated into Chinese culture. However older people in Harbin think that it is important for their children to learn both countries' languages and cultures in order to be successful, so some concrete policies and supports are needed.

The subway, which is an urban railway, is the core of public transportation. Urban railways are always exposed to serious problems such as theft, crime and terrorism, as many passengers use them. Especially, due to the nature of urban railway environment, the scope of surveillance is widely dispersed and the range of surveillance target is rapidly increasing. Therefore, it is difficult to perform comprehensive management by passive surveillance like existing CCTV. In this paper, we propose the implementation, design method and object recognition algorithm for intelligent object recognition system in urban railway. The object recognition system that we propose is to analyze the camera images in the history and to recognize the situations where there are objects in the landing area and the waiting area that are not moving for more than a certain time. The proposed algorithm proved its effectiveness by showing detection rate of 100% for Selected area detection, 82% for detection in neglected object, and 94% for motionless object detection, compared with 84.62% object recognition rate using existing Kalman filter.

The purpose of this study was to develop environmentally friendly constructed wetland system in order to improve the environment. This system was constructed with two constructed wetlands andone pond. The size of the first and second wetland was 2.5m in length, 2.5m in width and 0.7m in depth for the first wetland and 0.6m in depth for the second wetland. Those were filled with pebbles with about 16~32mm in diameter from bottom to 20cm depth and onto the pebbles with about 0.5 mm in diameter sand in depth 40cm. The first constructed Wetland was planted with pragmites communis. The second was planted with Iris pseudoacorus and Acorus calamus var. aneustatus.A vertical flow system was used in the first constructed wetland and a horizontal flow system in the second. The water of outflow from the second wetland flowed into the pond. This system was installed in Yangpyeong, Kyunggi Province. The Quality of inflow and outflow were analyzed at the first time from May 20 to May 30, 2002 and at second time from June 10 to July 18, 2002. At the second period wetland was implanted with microbes in order to improve the efficiency of constructed wetlands. Following standard methods for wastewater, BOD, COD, SS, T-N and T-P were analyzed. This system was effective in reducing COD, BOD, SS, T-N and T-P level. The result shows that wastewater was purified through constructed wetland system with plants and highly purified with microbes especially in T-P. The Average total phosphorous concentration of influent and effluent in constructed wetland with microbes was 2.8mg/${\ell}$ L and 0.21mg/${\ell}$ respectively. This system can be used in rural community because this is not only effective on purification of sewage but also is harmonized with the surrounding nature.

Due to the increasing needs of land supply, green space has been continuously encroached and resulted considerable naturality deterioration in Korea. In order to overcome the problem, it is necessary to introduce a integrated system for managing the quantitative and qualitative aspects of green space. With this regard, this study is to derive the feasibility for the adoption of the 'no net loss of green' policy to Korea from German and Japanese experiences. In Germany, natural resources are protected and inevitable damages were compensated through the adoption of 'interference regulation'. In Japanese case, future green space and artificial green foundation should be specified on the green basic plan which pursuit the improvement of naturality. In order to introduce the 'no net loss of green' policy to Korea, not only awareness raising on integrated green management system but also amendment of related regulations are needed. In detail, restoration and recovery on the damaged nature should be clearly elucidated and indicators to evaluate the current naturality and calculation methods for the restoration should be developed. Should this integrated green management system introduced, deterioration of naturality by development activities could be minimized thorough the adoption of land development permission criteria and green space management methodologies.
