  • In this paper, a new adaptive analysis scheme for element-free Galerkin method(EFGM) is proposed. The novel point of this scheme is that the triangular cell structure based on the Delaunay triangulation is used in the numerical integration and the node adding/removing process. In adaptive analysis with this scheme, there is no need to divide the integration cell and the memory cell structure. For the adaptive analysis of crack propagation, the reconstruction of cell structure by adding and removing the nodes on integration cells based the estimated error should be carried out at every iteration step by the Delaunay triangulation technique. This feature provides more convenient user interface that is closer to the real mesh-free nature of EFGM. The analysis error is obtained basically by calculating the difference between the values of the projected stresses and the original EFG stresses. To evaluate the performance of proposed adaptive procedure, the crack propagation behavior is investigated for several examples.

  • The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the result of the examination about the theoretical background of the monochrome was influenced by the minimalism and modernism, and consequently the abstract expressionism which is the main trend of the modern painting was formed basing upon the plane feature and unicolor character, and it was recognized that the custom of the plane feature was implied into the monochrome. Second, the aesthetic characteristics such as the beauty of body, beauty of simplicity, beauty of nature, beauty tradition, and beauty whole of the Korean monochrome paintings in 1970s were expressed in the modern fashion as follows. The beauty of body can be told as the dress which exposes the body or See-through look in the modern fashion. The beauty of simplicity is expressed as the most simple and non-decorating minimalism element. The beauty of nature is expressed by using the natural and convenient color without any artificiality. The beauty of tradition is expressed in the Han-bok natural white material. The beauty of whole is easily expressed by using repeated print, partition or overall harmonized beauty.

  • This study aims to recognize that creative thinking methodologies can be adopted in the spatial design. The concept of 'Convergent' and 'Divergent' used in structure of intellect model by Guilford is chosen to understand the character of creative thinking methodologies. Technical and physical contradictions is analyzed for '40 inventive principles' of TRIZ and spatial design works. Through this study, we recognize that the creative thinking methodologies consist of analysis, idea generation and evaluation phase. The psychological inertia that limits the creative thinking should be move away from solving problem, and convergent and divergent thinking have peculiarities to be adopted in condition and to be harmonized, and to set the direction of solving technical problems through to reach the target point integrated way of thinking is needed. '40 inventive principles' by Altshuller are based on engineering and useful in many areas of fields. However some principles are not accepted in design process because these are not considered in design field and paradigm is changed from machine to nature. Nowadays, nature is a prime issue for sustainable human life, because it has sustainable recycle structure and saving energy ways. Thus, creative thinking, including TRIZ is useful in design education and progress, and should be an essential element to get a new design paradigm.

  • Natural mineral water is generally quite different from ordinary drinking water due to its original nature and various properties. The complexity of natural mineral water requires, therefore, not only to identify its nature and proper characteristics, but also to classify them by a reasonable scientific basis of comparison. The study was concentrated on a possible classification technique to natural mineral waters by their constitutions and physico-ehemical properties. The classification was carried out by the computation of such numerical parameters as ionic equivalent percentage, electrolytic conductance or mobility, ionic molecular weight, molecular concentration, equivalent conductivity and degree of ionization in consideration of the determinative criteria as follows -particular single element or molecule -major components of natural waters as bicarbonate, sulphate, chloride, caloride, calcium, magnesium, and sodium -moleculat concentration related to blood osmotic pressure -water temperature at emergence from spring -contents of free carbon dioxide (CO2) -pH value of water -total dissolved solids or salts (NaCl) The results obtained proved out to be clearly distinguhhable from ordinary drinking water as far as concern natural mineral water as an example on the subject -simple water -bicarbonate-predominating water -cold spring -carbonated-non gaseous water -weak alkaline water -non saline water Putting these various results together, the sample turned out to be a kind of natural mineral water that can be used as a drinking water if microbiologically safe.

  • The result of this study is on textile expressed in the costume of the Kazakh tribe, Kirgiz tribe, Tajik tribe. Basically the material of costume is fur, cotton flannel, felt, silk, cotton outwear, velvet cloth and beads, silver, earing, bracelet is used frequently. The tribes did embroider on the shoes, made of sheepskin or calfskin and collar, belt, button, pocket with the sketch of national trait. Eventually their cultures of costume seem to be very similar because of the resemblances in circumstance of nature, religion, custom of life but definitely they show conservatism in itself and independent culture. In the basic structure of traditional costume by races, there is no big difference. Then, in men, the trousers and the shirts of tunic type become the basic with the style which is convenient to act. And, to wear vest, or jacket, or chaban, over it makes a little difference. In women also, same structure shows with the form to wear vest or outwear, on the basis of one piece. But, in a small hat, head wear, color contrast, and decoration element etc., strict difference is showing. After all, they show very similar clothing life culture basically in natural environment, religion, and life habit etc., But, the discrimination is made in the detailed side. So, it can be said that they show the conservative nature of nationalities, and have preserved the unique identity of their own culture.

  • Since the late of 20C, contemporary fashion have becoming enlargement between role and function of fashion through the combination and the deconstruction among various different spheres. Because multi-functional and trans-formal fashion transforms and extends original space and role toward any other fields through the morphologic and structural combination, this has been freed form the representational function pursuing more simple morphologic imitation, and becomes to change the space that is able to 'becoming' of Jill Deleuze. This paper intends to make a comparative study between the representation phenomenon about simple morphologic imitation of existing fashion design, and the becoming phenomenon of fashion focused on the change toward any other different object. This studies' conclusion as follows. 1) First representation imitates a lot of nature forms that are able to be restored any fixed form and picture. 2) Second representation is the representation of representation that re-imitates imitated object and art work. 3) Ontalogical becoming is classified with depaysement, self-presentation of fashion, morphing, and becoming the nature as a element.

  • This study is purposed to explicate the idea of 'the general design' for the construction of the construction of space of $L\'{a}szl\'{o}$ Moholy-Nagy who has stood against the traditional value system and made an attempt to create a new space-form language. On the basis of unification of perception and reality Moholy-Nagy intended to regenerate the essential aspects of life through an art by bestowing art with an aesthetic foundation and also expanding the art world into the living area. 'The Allgemeine Elementenlehre(the general theory of elements)' of Moholy-Nagy that is distanced from the visual perception as the dominant sense which is based on the principle of representation and imitation, and emphasized on the complicated relationship between the various senses including the tactile sense, offers a pedagogical basis for the space design that is indispensable for the plastic thinking and practice. At the same time it indicates an access route to the primary nature through the spatial construction of the prime elements of nature and man To explicate his idea toward the general theory of design of space, it will be tried first of all to clarify the core points of the empirio-criticism and the constructivism as the theoretical backgrounds of Moholy-Nagy. And then on the basis of these theoretical backgrounds will be analyzed the system and the contents of 'the allgemeine Elementenlehre' as the general space design theory and also the general space design pedagogy.

  • This study identifies the relationships among demographic variables, well-being health consciousness, sports/leisure activity, and the perceived premium price for high functional sports/leisure wear. An empirical study was conducted with the data collected by questionnaires distributed to male and female respondents aged 15 and over. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, MANOVA, two-way ANOVA, and regressions were used to analyze 244 answers. As a result, 3 factors were determined for well-being health consciousness: nature-friendly life, premium consumption for health, and health care. The older group pursued a nature-friendly life more than the younger group, the female group pursued premium consumption for health more than male group, and older women and younger men pursued health care more than their counterparts. Sports/leisure activity was relatively intensive in the male group and in the younger group. Sports/leisure activity was explained by male characteristic and health care factors. Sports/leisure activity was the only element for predicting the perceived premium price ratio for high functional sports/leisure wear.

  • Natural gas hydrate has been a major problem for its plugging nature in the pipeline. With the demand of deep-water production, the importance of flow assurance technology, preventing hydrate, asphaltene and wax in the pipeline becomes bigger Kinetic models combined with the flow simulator are being developed to explain the nature of hydrate plug formation in the pipeline. To simulate the hydrate plug formation, each stage including the nucleation, growth and agglomeration should be considered. The hydrate nucleation is known to be stochastic and is believed hard to be predicted. Recent publications showed hydrate growth and agglomeration can be observed rigorously using a particle size analyzer. However properties of the hydrate should be investigated to model the growth and agglomeration. The attractive force between hydrate particles, supposed to be the capillary force, was revealed to be stochastic. Alternative way to model the hydrate agglomeration is to simulate by the discrete element method. Those parameters, particle size distribution, attractive force, and growth rate are embedded into the kinetic model which is combined Into the flow simulator. When compared with the flowloop experimental data, hydrate kinetic model combined into a flow simulator showed good results. With the early results, the hydrate kinetic model is promising but needs more efforts to improve it.

  • Ballast particles have an irregular shape and are discrete in nature. Due to the discrete nature of ballast, it exhibits complex mechanical behaviour under loading conditions. The discrete element method (DEM) can model the behaviour of discrete particles under a multitude of loading conditions. DEM is used in this paper to simulate a series of three-dimensional direct shear tests in order to investigate the shear behaviour of railway ballast and its interaction at the microscopic level. Particle flow code in three dimension (PFC3D) models the irregular shape of ballast particles as clump particles. To investigate the influence of particle size distribution (PSD), real PSD of Indian railway ballast specification IRS:GE:1:2004, China high-speed rail (HSR) and French rail specifications are generated. PFC3D built-in linear contact model is used to simulate the interaction of ballast particles under various normal stresses, shearing rate and shear box sizes. The results indicate how shear resistance and volumetric changes in ballast assembly are affected by normal stress, shearing rate, PSD and shear box size. In addition to macroscopic behaviour, DEM represents the microscopic behaviour of ballast particles in the form of particle displacement at different stages of the shearing process.
