A method for the vibration analysis of curved beam conveying fluid with uniform velocity was presented. The dynamics of curved beam is based on the inextensible theory. Both in-plane motion and out-of-plane motion of curved beam were discussed. The finite element method was formulated to solve the governing equations. The natural frequencies calculated by the presented method were compared with those by analytical solution, straight beam theories and Nastran. As the velocity of fluid becomes larger, the results by straight beam model became different from those by curved beam model. And it was shown that the curved beam element should be used to predict the critical velocity of fluid exactly. The influence of fluid velocity on the frequency response function was also discussed.
In this paper, analytical study is performed to reduce residual vibration in seeking mode of optical pick-up. The conditions for acceleration adn deceleration time in trapezoidal velocity profile to reduce residual vibration are derived for undamped vibration system. To verify the validity of conditiosn two example studies are carried out. Numerical and experimental implementations for flexible arm system attached to moving part show that residual vibration is effectively reduced by calculated velocity profile. In addition, simulation study for optical pick-up reveals that by changing natural frequency to resonance frequency the conditions derived assuming undamped system can be applied to obtain velocity profile for minimum residual energy in damped vibration system.
It is well known that the natural frequencies of the pipe come to be lower as internal fluid velocity and pressure increase, and the pipe will be unstable if the fluid velocity is higher than critical velocity. But even if the velocity of the fluid below the critical velocity, resonance will be caused by pulsation of the fluid. So it should be also taken into consideration that the effect of pulsating fluid in pipe design. The research of the piping system vibration due to a fluid pulsation has been studied by many people. But almost is dealt with determining the boundary between stable and unstable region without analyzing forced response in the stable region. In this study, not only stability analysis but also forced response analysis, which is caused by harmonically excited fluid especially, is conducted.

In this study, not only stability analysis but also forced response analysis, which is caused by harmonically excited fluid especially, is conducted. In order to analyze the system numerically, the descretized equation is formulated by using FEM(Finite Element Method). And the results of this method are compared with those of AMM(Assumed Mode Method) which were used by many researcher earlier.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between physical stream characteristics and bed materials in natural rivers. Accordingly, four natural rivers were selected reference streams, they were Nam river, Sumjin River, Naesung River and Han River. Grain size distributions of bed materials were gravels, cobbles and boulders in Han river and Nam river, were sand, gravels, cobbles and boulders in Sumjin river and were sand in Naesung river. Four reference streams were divided into each two reference reaches (straight and bend) by plan and profile characteristics of naturally meandering stream. Therefore various reference reaches were chosen in the aspect of physical stream characteristics and grain size distributions. The results investigated and analyzed are as follows. The streams that grain sizes distributions of river bed materials were coarse were stable because they had variety of bed slope without sediment deposition, and then the riffles frequency and the physical characteristics were various. Also, velocitydepth regime were various in four kinds, and the response parts for water level change were small, so that channel flow status were stable and excellent condition. On the other hand, sand river that grain sizes distributions of river bed materials were fine had not the variety of parameters as velocity-depth regimes, sediment deposition, channel flow status and riffles frequency, so that the physical stream characteristics were not various.
Experimental results for heat transfer characteristics of natural refrigerants R-290, R-600a and HCFC refrigerant R-22 during evaporating inside horizontal double pipe heat exchangers are presented. The experimental apparatus is basically a vapour heat pump system, composed of a compressor, a condenser, expansion devices, a evaporator, and some other peripheral devices. The test sections were horizontal double pipe heat exchangers, which were a pair of smoothed tube, having 10.07 mm ID, 12.07 mm OD, and grooved inner fin tube, having 12.70 mm OD, 0.25 mm fin height, and 75 fins. The local evaporating heat transfer coefficients of natural refrigerants were not much affected with the mass velocity than R-22 and it could be interpreted that the local evaporating heat transfer coefficients of R-22 were increased more than those of R-290, R-600a according to the increment of mass velocity. Moreover, the maximum increment of the heat transfer coefficient was found in R-290. The average heat transfer coefficient was obtained the maximum value in R-290 and the minimum value in R-22. It reveals that the natural refrigerant can be used as a substitute for R-22. In the grooved inner fin tube, 70% of the increment of the heat transfer coefficient was obtained compared to the smoothed tube.
In this paper, the effect of the type and amount of fibers on the physicomechanical properties of concrete containing fine recycled refractory brick (RRB) and natural aggregate subjected to elevated temperatures was investigated. For this purpose, forta-ferro (FF), polypropylene (PP), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers with the volume fractions of 0, 0.25, and 0.5%, as well as steel fibers with the volume fractions of 0, 0.75, and 1.5% were used in the concrete containing RRB fine aggregate replacing natural sand by 0 and 100%. In total, 162 concrete specimens from 18 different mix designs were prepared and tested in the temperature groups of 23, 400, and $800^{\circ}C$. After experiencing heat, the concrete properties including the compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), weight loss, and surface appearance were evaluated and compared with the corresponding results of the reference (unheated) specimens. The results show that using RRB fine aggregate replacing natural fine aggregate by 100% led to an increase in the concrete compressive strength in almost all the mixes, and only in the PVA-containing mixes a decrease in strength was observed. Furthermore, UPV values at $800^{\circ}C$ for all the concrete mixes containing RRB fine aggregate were above those of the natural aggregate concrete specimens. Finally, regarding the compressive strength and UPV results, steel fibers demonstrated a better performance relative to other fiber types.
Because a change in the natural frequencies of a structure indicates structural health problems, monitoring the natural frequencies crucial. Long-term measurement for the Uldolmok tidal current power plant structure has shown that its natural frequencies fluctuate with a constant cycle twice a day. In this study, lab-scale tests to investigate the causes of these natural frequency fluctuations were carried out in a circulating water channel. Three independent variables in the tests that could affect the fluctuation of the natural frequencies were the water level, current velocity, and boundary condition between the specimen and the bottom of the circulating water channel. The experimental results were verified with numerical ones using ABAQUS. It was found that the fluctuation of the natural frequencies was governed by a decrease in stiffness due to the boundary condition much more than the effect of added mass. In addition, it was found that the natural frequency would decrease with an increase in the tidal current velocity because of its nonlinearity when the boundary condition was severely deteriorated due to damage.
