  • Currently digital communication system adapt various digital modulation schemes. All these communication systems are required to cause the minimum interference to adjacent channels, they must therefore employ the linear power amplifiers. In respect to linear power amplifiers, there are many linearization techniques. Feedforward power amplifier represent very wide bandwidth and high linearization capability. In the feedforward systems overall efficiency is reduced due to the loss of delay line. In this paper, delay filter instead of transmission delay line adapted to get more high efficiency. Experimental results showed that ACLR has improved 17.04dB which is added 2.54dB by using the delay filter.

  • In this paper, considering PAR of transmitter which is pointed out OFDM system's problem, we designed Coded OFDM (COFDM) system and estimated BER and SNR using PAR reduction method In order to evaluate performance, we compared M-ary PSK (M-ary Phase Shift Keying) with M-ary QAM (M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation). In result, performance of 16-PSK and 16-QAM came to good Moreover, 16-QAM showed better performance of about 2 dB in 10-3 error probability and performance of about 5 dB in Peak power clipping than that of 16-PSK.

  • This paper presents a novel shore-to-sea maritime data transmission system based on time-code diversity, using visible light in maritime environments to overcome the limitations of conventional maritime wireless communications. The proposed system is primarily comprised of existing LED-based lighthouses and maritime transceivers (marine beacons, buoys, etc.), and thus is considered cost-effective in terms of implementation. We first analyze maritime visible-light communications on the basis of the unique properties of a maritime environment, i.e. sea states (wave height, wind speed, etc.), plus atmospheric turbulence, using the Pierson-Moskowitz (PM) and JONSWAP (JS) spectrum models. It is found that the JS model outperforms the PM model, and that the coverage distance depends on the LED power and sea states. To combat maritime fading conditions that significantly degrade performance and coverage distance, we propose a time-code diversity (TCD) scheme in which the delayed versions of the original data are retransmitted using orthogonal Walsh codes. This TCD scheme is found to be superior, in that it offers three orders of magnitude in terms of BER performance, compared to a conventional (non-TCD) transmission scheme. The proposed scheme is robust and efficient in overcoming the effect of impairments present in maritime environments with a BER of approximately $10^{-5}$and a data rate of 100 Kbps at a distance of 1 km.

  • In this paper, a numerical experiment on a tidal turbine was performed based on a water wheel design using the commercial CFD code ANSYS-CFX to contribute to the development of water wheels. The water wheel type tidal turbine was studied with different numbers of rotor blades (including ten, twelve and twenty blades types) and with different blade shapes (Straight, Curved and Zuppinger types) for comparison at several values of tip speed ratio (TSR) ranging from 0.7 to 1.2. The numerical results indicated that the 10-bladed type and the Straight-bladed type turbines absorb the highest power efficiency, up to 43 % at TSR 0.9. In addition, the 20-bladed and the Curved-bladed types showed the lowest performances in all cases of TSRs comparing with the others. Besides that, it was found that this turbine operates much effectively at low range of TSR, especially at TSRs 0.9 and 1 for all cases of blade shapes and all numbers of blades.

  • Tidal turbine, which is relatively similar to wind turbine in term of operational principle, has become a potential solution for the sustainable development of global energy. This paper introduces author's work on tidal turbine which aims to improve the power efficiency by the adaption of counter-rotating concept. The turbine system is modelled and analyzed using computational simulation commercial code. Compared with other works, the counter-rotating tidal turbine presented here is expected to operate stably with high performance throughout a wide range of tip-speed-ratio. Moreover, the equability of individual performance of each rotor is an advantage.

  • Active AC/DC converters with PWM operation are utilized to regulate rectified DC bus voltage of a permanent magnet synchronous generator in the maritime DC power system. A DC bus voltage regulation strategy that exploits the six-step operation is proposed in this study. Compared with that of the PWM operation, switching loss of the converter can be significantly reduced under the six-step operation. Moreover, conduction loss can also be reduced due to the high modulation index and reduced flux-weakening current of the six-step operation. A controller is used for the proposed DC bus voltage regulation strategy to verify its validity with the simulation and experimental setup. The simulation and the experimental test results showed that the converter loss reduces to a maximum of 70% and 19%, respectively.

  • It have been known that the probability of occidental happening in towing-barge is higher than that of other merchant vessels. Bemuse the towing-barge is restricted in thier manoeuvring ability due to its towingline. A report from ministry maritime affairs and fisheries said that the rate of collision occident for towing-barge is 40% high than other transport system in sea A number of researches have been carried out to improve the safety policy in the towing-barge sea transportation system by the gorvenment. This study examined the safety status in domestic towing-barge sea transportation system The registration status, safety operational policy and past occidental data were also examined A survey research of experts relating to towing-barge operation also was carried out to fine the detailed of safety status. This study would be applicable to set up safety policy for towing-barge marine transportation system.

  • Vertical axis wind turbine, despite of its limit in power efficiency, the simplicity in structure and maintenance is a competitive factor that keeps this type of turbine in the game until nowadays. Continuous solutions have been given to handle its major weakness and the use of omni-directional guide vane is an considerable one. In this paper, a 5kkW scale Savonius-based wind turbine enhanced with such guide vane system was design and studied. Together with reasonable blade design, the wind turbine shows promising performance compared with basic design while maintaining its original advantages.
