Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of heat stimuli (e.g., fire needling, warm needling) in acupuncture for acute gout. Methods: Four international online databases (PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure) were searched to identify randomized, controlled trials (RCTs) that used fire needling and warm needling for acute gout. The methodological quality of the RCTs was evaluated using the Cochrane risk-of-bias (RoB) tool. Thirteen RCTs (840 patients) were included and analyzed. Three evaluation tools (total effective rate, uric acid level, and pain score) were mainly used. Comparisons were made between Western medicine (WM) and i) fire needling or warm needling treatment alone, ii) fire needling and bloodletting combination treatment, iii) combination of fire needling, bloodletting, and herbal medicine, iv) warm needling (concurrently). Heat stimuli in acupuncture alone or in combination treatment were more effective in terms of the total efficacy rates, uric acid levels, and pain scores than WM alone. Results: In all the evaluation tools, the treatment effects in the fire needling alone or warm needling alone treatment group and the fire needling and bloodletting combination intervention group were significantly better than those in the WM control group. The warm needling and WM combination intervention groups also experienced significantly better treatment effects in terms of total efficacy rates and uric acid levels. Only the pain scores in the fire needling, bloodletting, and herbal medicine combination groups demonstrated significant improvement. Only four studies mentioned adverse reactions: one reported loss of appetite; three studies reported none. According to the Cochrane RoB tool, most studies showed either high or uncertain RoB. Conclusion: Heat stimuli during acupuncture could be effective for acute gout. However, as the included studies were regionally biased, more high-quality studies are needed to confirm the level of evidence.

Hazardous work zones (i.e., hot, warm, and cold) are typically established by emergency response teams during hazardous materials (HAZMAT) calls but less consistently for fire responses to segment personnel and response activities in the immediate geographic area around the fire. Despite national guidelines, studies have documented the inconsistent use of respiratory protective equipment by firefighters at the fire scene. In this case-series report, we describe warm zone gas levels using multigas detectors across five independent fire incident responses all occurring in a large South Florida fire department. Multigas detector data collected at each fire response indicate the presence of sustained levels of volatile organic compounds in the "warm zone" of each fire event. These cases suggest that firefighters should not only implement strategies for multigas detector use within the warm zone but also include respiratory protection to provide adequate safety from toxic exposures in the warm zone.
This paper proposes an arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) using the distorted voltage wave in electric arc faults. It perceives a voltage instantaneously at the time of voltage drop. and occurrence. It is an AFCI of the new concept which operates with high reliability. The primary reason of electric fire is arc and spark. It prevents an electric fire or an electric leakage accident with quick responsiveness. Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker(ELB), Molded_case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) or Residual Current Protective Device(RCD) can not cut off electric arc or spark to be a major factor of electrical fire. This theory will be able to intercept an arc or a spark. which occurrence with periodic. Consequently It raises a reliability and validates a practicality of RCD.
An experimental study was presented for extinguishing characteristics of liquid fuel fire by water mist($Dv_{0.99}{\leq}200{\mu}m$) containing potassium acetate and sodium acetate trihydrate. To evaluate the extinguishing performance of water mist containing additives, the evaporation characteristics of a water droplet on a heated surface was examined. The evaporation process was recorded by a charge-coupled-device camera. Also, small-scale extinguishing tests were conducted for n-heptane pool fire in ventilated space. During the experiments, flame temperatures were measured, and concentrations of oxygen and carbon monoxide were analyzed by a combustion gas analyzer. The average evaporation rate of water droplet containing additives was lower than that of pure water at a given surface temperature and decreased with the concentration increase due to the precipitation of salt in the liquid-film and change of surface tension. In case of using additives, the fire extinguishing times was shorter than that of pure water at a given discharge pressure and it was because the momentum of a water droplet containing additives was increased. And also dissociated metal atoms, potassium or sodium, were reacted as a scavenger of the major radical species OH, H which were generated for combustion process. Moreover, at a high pressure of 4 MPa, the fire was extinguished through blowing effect as well as primary extinguishing mechanisms.
In this paper, a fire resistance test was carried out in accordance with the change of the insulation conditions on the exposed side and unexposed side of a coaming to obtain the optimal insulation conditions for class H-120 insulation in connection with specimen1 of the preceding paper for an evaluation of the fireproof performance of fire dampers according to hydrocarbon fire conditions. In the test results, specimen2(88 mm, $171^{\circ}C$) met the class H-120 insulation conditions, but specimen3(76mm, $181^{\circ}C$) exceeded the thermal insulation acceptance criteria at 110 minutes. Therefore, specimen2(88 mm) represents the optimal insulation conditions as a possible lightweight materialas compared to specimen1. From a comparison of the test results, we concluded that the temperature increase of the coaming insulation surface was influenced by conductive heat from the bulkhead and that the coaming surface was influenced by radiant heat from the blade and coaming.
Objective: This study was designed to report on the progress of the fire at Jecheon sports complex and to assess the adequacy of Disaster Medical Assistant Team (DMAT)'s activities in response to the fire disaster. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review based on camera recordings and medical records that were recorded at the disaster site for assessment of activities. We cooperated with firefighters, police officers, local hospital medical staffs and public health personnel in Jecheon in order to classify patients in the disaster field and to understand the patients' progress. Results: At 15:53, the first request for emergency rescue came to the 119 general emergency call center, and a request for DMAT activation came at 16:28. DMAT arrived at the site at 17:04 and remained active until the following day at 00:43. The total number of casualties was 60, including 27 minimal (Green) patients, 29 expectant (Black) patients, three delayed (Yellow) patients, and one immediate (Red) patient. There were 32 patients who received on-site care by DMAT. Two patients were transferred from a local hospital to Wonju Severance Christian Hospital for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Conclusion: Twenty-nine victims were found in the sports complex building, and there were 31 mildly to moderately injured patients in this fire disaster. The main cause of death was thought to be smoke suffocation. Although DMAT was activated relatively quickly, it was not able to provide effective activity due to the late rescue and difficulty with fire suppression.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of psychosocial wellbeing status and self leadership with job satisfaction of fire officers. The effects of these variables on job satisfaction were also examined. Methods: The study design was a descriptive, correlational design. For this study, data were collected from 189 fire officers in B metropolitan city, K and Y cities. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The results showed that job satisfaction had a significant correlation with psychosocial wellbeing status (r=-.38, p<.001) and self leadership (r=.26, p<.001). Psychosocial wellbeing status had a significant correlation with self leadership(r=-.47, p<.001). Multiple regression analysis for job satisfaction revealed that the most powerful predictor was psychosocial wellbeing status followed by self leadership. Pychosocial wellbeing status, self leadership, age, marital status and current job task career explained 25.0% of the variance in job satisfaction. Conclusion: Findings indicate that various factors are related to the job satisfaction of fire officers. Based on the results of this study, further development and application of programs to improve fire officers' job satisfaction are needed.

As the environmental pollution by the drastic increase of vehicles becomes one of the social major concerns, the method of reducing the harmful exhaust emission is being the subject of interest. Utilization of used frying oil as a raw material for biodiesel production is helpful not only for the stable supply of raw materials but also costing down the biodiesel price. This study was conducted the measurement the combustion and thermal characteristics with mixing ratio of biodiesel/diesel fuel. In this study, flash points and fire points were measured by using Tag Closed cup apparatus and Cleveland open cup apparatus. As the result, flash points, fire points and AIT increased with percentage of more contained biodiesel.
Wooden cultural heritages of Korea have been destroyed by fire in many cases. As a result, a number of methods to protect wooden cultural properties against fire were introduced. A way of protecting wooden cultural properties installations of fire equipments such as sprinkler, fire alarm system, or fire extinguisher. Another way of protecting wooden cultural properties is to treat them with flame retardants for their safety. Development of a very effective flame retardant with a good performance without affecting danchung and wood quality is required. At the same time, methods of evaluating flame retardant treated woods should be devised to assess their efficacy. In this study, combustion characteristics using cone-calorimeter, limit oxygen index, moisture absorption, iron corrosive and weathering were analyzed to evaluate the flame resistance efficacy and performance of flame retardants treated woods. The evaluation methods of flame retardants for wooden cultural heritage were suggested.
