Installation for Preparing of Nanopowders by Target Evaporation with Pulsed Electron Beam

  • Production of weakly agglomerated nanopowders with the characteristic size of about 10 nm and a narrow particle size distribution is still a topical problem especially if the matter is an acceptable output (>50 g/hour), a high purity of the final product, and a low (energy consumption. The available experience and literature data show that the most promising approach to production of such powders is the evaporation-condensation method, which has a set of means for heating of the target. From this viewpoint the use of pulsed electron accelerators for production of nanopowders is preferable since they allow a relatively simple adjustment of the energy, the pulse length, and the pulse repetition rate. The use of a pulsed electron accelerator provides the following opportunities: a high-purity product; only the target and the working gas will interact and their purity can be controlled; evaporation products will be removed from the irradiation zone between pulses; as a result, the electron energy will be used more efficiently; adjustment of the particle size distribution and the characteristic size of particles by changing the pulse energy and the irradiated area. Considering the obtained results, we developed a design and made an installation for production of nanopowders, which is based on a hollow-cathode pulsed gas-filled diode. The use of a hollow-cathode gas-filled diode allows producing and utilizing an electron beam in a single chamber. The emission modulation in the hollow cathode will allow forming an electron beam 5 to 100 ms long. This will ensure an exact selection of the beam energy. By now we have completed the design work, manufactured units, equipped the installation, and began putting the installation into operation. A small amount of nanopowders has been produced.

A Study on the Design of Digital Frequency Discriminator with 3-Channel Delay Lines (3채널 지연선을 가진 디지털주파수판별기의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a DFD (Digital Frequency Discriminator) design that has better frequency discrimination and a smaller size. Electronic warfare equipment can analyze different types of radar signal such as those based on Frequency, Pulse Width, Time Of Arrival, Pulse Amplitude, Angle Of Arrival and Modulation On Pulse. In order for electronic warfare equipment to analyze radar signals with a narrow pulse width (less than 100ns), they need to have a special receiver structure called IFM (Instantaneous Frequency Measurement). The DFD (Digital Frequency Discriminator) is usually used for the IFM. Because the existing DFDs are composed of separate circuit devices, they are bulky, heavy, and expensive. To remedy these shortcomings, we use a three delay line ($1{\lambda}$, $4{\lambda}$, $16{\lambda}$) in the DFD, instead of the four delay line ($1{\lambda}$, $4{\lambda}$, $16{\lambda}$, $64{\lambda}$) generally used in the existing DFDs, and apply the microwave integrated circuit method. To enhance the frequency discrimination, we detect the pulse amplitude and perform temperature correction. The proposed DFD has a frequency discrimination error of less than 1.5MHz, affording it better performance than imported DFDs.

Investigation of Characterization and Fabrication High-Temperature Superconducting Multiplexer by Pulse laser Deposition (레이저 공정을 이용한 고온초전도 멀티플렉서의 제작과 특성 분석)

  • To fabricate superconducting multiplexers with narrow pass band characteristics and reduce the physical size of device, we have designed multiplexer using hair-pin type filters with the center frequency of 13.6 GHz. Multiplexers have been fabricated superconductor(HTS), because It has low surface resistance. The $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$(YBCO) films were deposited on MgO substrates$(20{\times}20{\times}0.5mm^3)$ by using pulsed laser deposition and conventional photo-lithographic methods were used to pattern the multiplexer. Epitaxial YBCO films were grown on(100) MgO substrates and showed strongly c_axis orientations observed by X-ray diffraction technique. Superconducting transition temperatures were measured to be about 89K. Simulated results of superconducting multiplexer consisting of hair-pin type filters show the insertion loss of about 1.2dB. The measured frequency response will be compared with the simulated results.

  • In this paper, the waveform parameters of electromagnetic pulses radiated from intracloud discharges were presented. The zero-crossing times and the full pulse widths of the large bipolar electromagnetic pulses due to intracloud discharges are gradually decreased as the stroke proceeds. Also, the electromagnetic pulses tend to be bipolar, with narrow and fast leader pulses superimposed on the initial half cycle. The mean numbers of leader pulses superimposed on the initial half cycle were 1.61${\pm}$0.74 and 1.75${\pm}$0.73 for the positive and negative polarities, respectively.

  • Pulse laser welding was performed on C22 metal bellows. The results can be summarized as follows: Laser welded metal bellows had less thermal distortion, narrow HAZ, high aspect ratio in comparison with other welding processes like TIG, Plasma welding. Laser welded bellows has higher tensile strengths than that C22 base metal. The value of hardness in laser weld metal was measured 100-120 Hv, it was decreased compared to the base metal. It is reasoned that due to the annealed by heat input during the laser welding.

  • Interference from IEEE 802.11a systems affects ultra-wideband (UWB) systems significantly. In this letter, we suggest a novel narrow-band interference (NBI) suppression technique based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) algorithm in time-hopping pulse amplitude modulation (TH-PAM) UWB systems. The SVD algorithm is used to approximate the interference which then is subtracted from the received signals. In contrast to the conventional notch filter and rake receiver, our method is more effective and the receiver complexity can be greatly reduced.

  • Pulse width modulation using discontinuous conduction modes are applied to a full-bridge series resonant converter to regulate the output from no load to full load with low switching loss and a narrow range of frequency variation. Finally, a simple nonlinear discrete-time dynamic model for this proposed converter is derived using approximation. This discrete time model is linearized and a general input - output transfer function for the propelled converter is derived.

  • IN induction heating system the high frequency operation allows a rapid response to current fluctuation in the inverter and result in improved welding quality. To work induction heating of nonferrous metals, a welding power supply is need high working frequency and high power. This paper is shown design technique for increasing working frequency in induction heating for welding coppers. A series-parallel resonate inverter consists of H-type bridges, each of whose arms is composed of a combination of two parallel IGBTs. Inverter operating with the fixed frequency is controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM). As switching adapted the Zero-Voltage Switching technique to reduce switching losses the system is high efficiency. The propose inverter has feature which is high efficiency for very wide load variations with a narrow range of duty cycle ratio control and load short circuit capability. Detailed experimental results obtained from a 48[V] output, 500[W] experimental inverter are presented to verify the concept.

  • In this paper, a modified multimode hem antenna is designed to have 142 mm horn aperture radius and 921 mm length in order to be safe under 100 MW peak pulse power at 3 cm wave length through breakdown phenomenon study that threshold field strengths for the air breakdown phenomena is decided to be 3.78 MV/m. The proposed antenna is measured gain over 27 dBi and the -25 dB beam width of 29$^{\circ}$ in vertical plane.

  • In realizing a three-level GTO inverter, we should keep the voltage balancing of DC-link capacitors and consider minimum on/off time of GTO thyristors in order to make the same blocking voltage across each device and to minimize the harmonic components of the output voltage and current. In this raper, a new PWM scheme based on space voltage vectors, by which it is possible to keep neutral-point voltage and avoid narrow pulse, is presented. Experimental results verify that the proposed PWM control scheme is suitable fur hish power and high voltage three-level GTO inverters applied to induction motor drives.
