  • Effect of excessive addition of water reducing agent was examined by concrete tests. Water reducing agents of lignin or naphtalene base were used in the experiment. Setting of concrete was retarded according to the increase of dosage of water reducing agent and was extremely delayed at the 3 times or more use of lignin base agent and near 5 times or more use of naphtalene base agent respectively. When water reducing agent was used more than 6 times of standard dosage, early strength of concrete was very low and the strength reduction was very severe at all test ages in the concrete using lignin base agent.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of admixture such as AE water reducing agent and Flyash on properties of cement mortar for floor. As for the effects of AE water reducing agent kinds, fluidity and air content increase in order for melamine type, lignine type and naphtalene type. As Flyash contents increase, fluidity shows high, but air content shows decline tendency. compressive strength according to AE water reducing agent kinds increase in order for melamine type, lignine type and naphtalene type. As AE water reducing agent content increases, it shows to be decreased. As for the effects of Flyash, it retards at early age but at later age it gains high with increase of Flyash contents due to pozzanic reaction. Drying shrinkage shows to be docreased slightly with increase of AE water reducing agent.

  • This study is to investigate the quality of superplasticizers in domestic market. Therefore, the physico-chemical characteristics, the fluidity characteristics of fresh cement paste and mortar were tested. Also fresh and hardened properties of mortars and concretes using these superplasticizers were tested. From these results, differences of quality among superplasticizers are checked clearly in low water/cement ratio. And it is concluded that several superplasticizers have better dispersion ability than others in every tests. It has known that all samples are naphtalene sulfornate formaldehede types by the UV(ultra-violet) test.

  • The rate constants for the reaction of ${\alpha}$-naphthalene carbonyl chloride and ${\beta}$-naphthalene carbonyl chloride have been determined in methanol-acetonitrile and methanol-acetone. The rate constant of ${\alpha}$-naphtalene carbonyl chloride is higher than that of ${\beta}$-naphthalene carbonyl chloride. This behavior is consistent with Dewar's number, Nr and also Streitwieser's value ${\sigma}^+$. Since in the transition state carbonyl carbon is transformed to$sp^3$, no peri-hydrogen effect was observed.

  • The conditions for callus formation and plant regeneration were confirmed in four varieties of alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.). Among four varieties of alfalfa, "Vernal" expressed the highest rate for both of callus formation and plant regeneration. Otherwise, among SH(Schenk and Hildebrandt), MS(Murachige and Skoog) and N6 medium (Chu), SH medium was highest degree of efficiencies respectively in callus formatio and plant regeneration. In this study, we determined volume of hormones and other compounds appended in media. For callus formation, only $3mg/{\ell}$ of 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid) was appended in their media. For plant regeneration, the three kinds of media were used; the medium appended $5mg/{\ell}$ of NAA (1-naphtalene acetic acid) and $2mg/{\ell}$ of kinetin (6-furfurylaminopurine), the medium appended $11mg/{\ell}$ of 2,4-D and $1mg/{\ell}$ of kinetin, and the medium appended $1.6g/{\ell}$ of ammonium sulfate and $5.75g/{\ell}$ of proline. We obtained alfalfa plants from callus by regeneration, about sixty five days later transfer calli to regeneration media.

  • The effect of the additives on the Zn-Ni alloy electrocrystallization from a chloride bath was investigated by means of electrochemical methodes, scanning electron microscopy and measurement of surface appearance, X-ray diffraction patterns. The additives tested were the surfactant of naphtalene-derivative, saccharin and aliphatic alcohol. The resistance of electrodeposit increased by adding the additives, whereas the effect of additives on resistance was different with current density. The nickel content of alloy deposit was increased by the addition of alcohol, while decreased by the surfactant. The surface roughness, appearance and morphology of deposit were also influenced by the type of additive. The fine, compact grains and good surface roughness could be obtained from the surfactant or alcohol -added bath, and the surfactant or saccharin improved the surface appearance.

  • The medicinal plant Panax ginseng (P. ginseng) contains various phytosterols and bioactive triterpene saponins (ginsenosides). Squalene synthase catalyzes the first committed step in ginsenoside biosynthesis. Transgenic plants of P. ginseng were generated by introducing the squalene synthase gene derived from P. ginseng. Adventitious roots of the transgenic ginseng grew best in B5 medium, and 2 g of inoculum secured an optimal growth rate. Two phytohormones, indolebutyric acid and 1-naphtalene acetic acid, increased root growth and decreased ginsenoside production. Treatment with two selected elicitors, chitosan and jasmonic acid, and a precursor of the isoprenoid pathway, mevalonic acid, enhanced ginsenoside production and retarded ginseng growth rate.
