Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Ceramic Coating Layers with Nano-sized Silicon Oxides on a Steel Sheet

  • A ceramic coating material with nano-sized silicon oxide on AISI 4340 steel for a thermal conductor at a high temperature was analyzed to find an optimum coating process. Average surface roughness of the coating layers prepared by dipping process was about $5.26{\mu}m$. Potassium silicate addition as a binder of the coating material tended to improve its hardness. A pencil scratch hardness testing showed that a loading more than 800 g made fragments of the coating layer.

  • Ni-silicide has low thermal stabiliy. This point is obstacle to apply NiSi to devices. So In this paper, we have studied for obtain thermal stability and analysis of dopant dependency of NiSi. And then we applied Ni-silicide to devices. To improvement of thermal stability, we deposit Ni70/Co10/Ni30/TiN100 to sample. Co midlayer is enhanced thermal stability of NiSi. Co/Ni/TiN, this structure show very difference between n-poly and p-poly in sheet resistance. But Ni/Co/Ni/TiN, structure show less difference. Also junction leakage is good.

  • Silver has antibacterial property on bacteria of about 650 kinds and has been well known as non-toxic and non-tolerance in natural state. Recently, silver has been applied disinfection and antibacterial property to everyday life as health foods, filter, and exclusion of pollution. Nano-sized silver particle have very small size (〈10nm) and wide surface area per unit volume.   • Nanocrystalline SnO and $SnO_{2}$ powder have been prepared by hydrazine method. Sn-Hydrazine complex was formed by the reduction between aqueous $SnCl_{2}$ solution and hydrazine monohydrate. $SnO_{2}$ nano powder was prepared by the decomposition of Sn-Hydrazine complex at $450^{\circ}C$. When NaOH was added to Sn-hydrazine complex, SnO powder with nano-sheet morphology could be prepared. This can be attributed to the role of $OH^{-}$ ion as a reducing agent.

Study on the Surface Properties of Arc Ion Plated Ti-Al-Cr-N Thin Layers (아크 이온 증착된 Ti-Al-Cr-N 도포층의 표면 물성 연구)

  • Ti-Al-Cr-N thin layer was prepared on Fe-Si thin sheet by arc ion plating to improve corrosion and mechanical properties. The compositions ratios of Fe : Cr : Al : Ti : Si : N of the thin layers at $500^{\circ}C$ was 1.24 : 0.56 : 36.82 : 32.72 : 0.59 : 28.07 [wt.%], respectively. The higher arc ion plating temperature was, the higher corrosion resistance and nano-hardness were observed due to chromium content. Corrosion potential and corrosion rate in artificial sea water of the coating layer were in the range of $-39mV_{SHE}$ and $2mA/cm^2$, respectively. Passivity was not observed in the artificial sea water. Nano-hardnesses of the thin layers was increased by adding Cr from 23.6 to 25.8 [GPa]. The friction coefficients and fatigue limits of the layers were 0.388, 0.031, respectively.

  • This article deals with the frequency analysis of viscoelastic sandwich disk with graphene nano-platelets (GPLs) reinforced viscoelastic concrete (GPLRVC) face sheets and honeycomb core. The honeycomb core is made of aluminum due to its low weight and high stiffness. The rule of the mixture and modified Halpin-Tsai model are engaged to provide the effective material constant of the concrete. By employing Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of the structure are derived and solved with the aid of the Generalize Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). In this paper, viscoelastic properties are modeled according to Kelvin-Voigt viscoelasticity. The deflection as the function of time can be solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Afterward, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of the outer to inner radius ratio, hexagonal core angle, thickness to length ratio of the concrete, the weight fraction of GPLs into concrete, and the thickness of honeycomb core to inner radius ratio on the frequency of the viscoelastic sandwich disk with honeycomb core and FG-GPLRVC face sheet.

Silver Nanowire-Based Stretchable Transparent Electrodes for Deformable Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (신축성 유기발광다이오드를 위한 은 나노와이어 기반의 신축성 투명 전극 기판 연구)

  • The proposed stretchable transparent electrodes based on silver nanowires (AgNWs) were prepared on a polyurethane (PU) substrate. In order toavoid the surface roughness caused by the silver nanowires, a titanium oxide ($TiO_2$) buffer layer was addedby coating and heating the organometallic sol-gel solution. The fabricated stretchable electrodes showedan electrical sheet resistance of $24{\Omega}sq^{-1}$, 78% transmittance at 550 nm, and an average surface roughness below 5 nm. Furthermore, the AgNW-based electrode maintained its initial electrical resistance under 130% strain testing conditions, without the assistance of additional conductive polymer layers. In this paper, the critical role of the $TiO_2$ buffer layer between the AgNW network and the PU substrate has been discussed.

  • Ultraviolet-nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL) is promising technology for cost effectively defining micro/nano scale structure at room temperature and low pressure. In addition, this technology is fascinating because of it's possibility for high-throughput patterning without complex processes. However, to acquire good micro/nano patterns using this technology, there are some challenges such as uniformity and fidelity of patterns, etc. In this paper, we have focused on uniform contact mechanism and performed contact mechanics analysis. The dimension of the flexible sheet to get adequate uniform contact area has been obtained from contact mechanics simulation. Based on this analysis, we have made a uniform pressurizing device and confirmed its uniform pressurized zone using a pressure sensing paper.

  • In this paper, the formation and thermal stability characteristics of Ni silicide using Ni-V alloy on Boron cluster ($B_{18}H_{22}$) implanted bulk and SOI substrate were examined in comparison with pure Ni for nano-scale CMOSFET. The Ni silicide using Ni-V alloy on $B_{18}H_{22}$ implanted SOI substrate after high temperature post-silicidation annealing showed the lower sheet resistance, no agglomeration interface image and lower surface roughness than that using pure Ni. The thermal stability of Ni silicide was improved by using Ni-V alloy on $B_{18}H_{22}$ implanted SOI substrate.

  • The electromagnetic wave (EM) absorption properties of various particle size have been investigated in a sheet-type absorber using the $Fe_{73}Si_{16}B_{7}Nb_{3}Cu_{1}$ alloy powder. With decreasing the average particle size, the complex permeability (${\mu}_{r}$) and permittivity (${\varepsilon}_{r}$) increased and the matching frequency is shifted toward lower frequency. The fabricated EM wave absorbers showed permeability $2{\sim}6$, permittivity $17{\sim}23$ for a $-325{\sim}+400$ mesh sample, and the calculated power absorption was as high as 80% in the frequency range over 2 GHz.
