Preventing disaster system of the subaqueous tunnel under the Han river in the Bundang railway (분당선 한강 하저터널의 방재시스템)

  • As use of tunnels and subways increase there also are accidents proportionate to it. Daegu Subway Station fire, Hongjimoon tunnel fire led people to be conscious of disaster protection and as a result, there is a trend to adopt standards for fire protection. Accordingly, this thesis is focused on investigating various fire and water protection related issues for subaqueous tunnel under Ran river. The thesis developed evacuation and disaster prevention plan as fire level increases and have identified the suitability of disaster prevention through evacuation and fire simulation, countermeasure of a water leakage during construction and operation considering the subaqueous tunnel. And we selected EPB shield TBM equipment considering the ground condition and effect of boring hole, and accomplished reasonable water protection design through setting goals using event-tree method, as well as examining model test of boring hole and flooding in heavy rain. Also included structured total system consist of water leakage sensing system, water protection gate, pumping system and fire protection system to respond systematically in emergency.

  • The shear strength characteristics of an unsaturated earth material are highly important not only for evaluating the seepage characteristics but also the stability of levee for a lifelong. In this study, unsaturated strength characteristics of Nak-dong river sand and clay that frequently used for the levee construction in southern province of Korea were analyzed using unsaturated triaxial compressive test. The strength characteristics due to the variation of matric suction were analyzed using multi-stage compression technique and the results were directly compared with the non-linear formulation for the apparent cohesion ($C_{max}$), and the friction component ${\varphi}^b$ were determined and evaluated from the test for the application of linear Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria. Cohesion and friction characteristics of the unsaturated levee material under various suction phases were also explored during this study.

  • Riverbank filtration for water supply has been employed for about 150 years in developed countries. In Korea, the feasibility of riverbank filtration has been investigated since 1990's for large river basins, to find a solution to stably meet the ever-increasing demand for water. Recently, some cites in the Nak-dong River Basin have been supplying the water through riverbank filtration. This research studies the feasibility of riverbank filtration in Seoul. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which selects the most optimal alternative by hierarchically classifying various attributes and then quantifying the importance of each attribute, was applied to candidate locations for the selection of riverbank filtration site. The Kwangnaru district, which has advantages in water quality and close connectivity to the existing water purification facility, was selected as the most optimal site.

Water Quality Characteristics of Busan Metropolitan Streams (부산광역시 일부하천의 수질특성)

  • This study is carried out to investigate the water quality changes in Busan Metropolitan streams, The results are as follows. The level of organic contaminants($BOD_{5}$ and $COD_{Mn}$) is found to be low and does not show seasonal variation in domestic waste water streams. But, the level of organic contaminants in industrial waste water streams is relatively high and seems to be seasonally variable, which is affected by other factors. The nutrient materials, such as nitrogen(as T-N, about 20mg/L) and phosphorus(as T-P about 2.0mg/L), are abundant than Nak Dong River and the general trends of contaminants level are similar to those of organic contaminants. The chronic water qualities, including organic, nutrient contaminants levels, show that the loading rates in 1998 are smaller than the past(1983, 1992). And this trend is more evident in industrial waste water streams than domestic waste water streams.

  • 유역특성조사는 지형도와 원격탐사자료 및 확인조사를 기초로 지리정보시스템(GIS)기법 등 최신기법을 도입하여 유역단위의 특성인자를 도출함으로서 이수 및 치수 등 수자원과 관련된 각종 분석의 기초자료 제공에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 기존의 유역특성 자료는 전유역을 대상으로 유역전반에 문헌을 통한 개괄적인 인용, 또는 수작업으로 중소하천의 유역특성인자를 파악함으로서, 일관성 및 정확도에 어느정도 한계를 내포하고 있다. 따라서, 중소하천 유역별(소유역별) 유역특성 파악 및 특성인자 변화를 확인할 수 있는 기초자료 구축을 위한 전면적인 조사가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 전국유역조사 사업의 일환으로, 수자원단위지도를 기반으로 하여 DEM과 하천망도를 구축하였으며, 이를 활용하여 유역특성 및 하천특성 분석을 수행하였다.

Undrained Cyclic Shear Behavior for Nak-Dong River Sand Due to Silt contents (실트 함유율에 따른 낙동강 모래의 반복전단거동)

  • This study was carried out to improve our understanding about the influence of silt content on the stress-strain of sand under cyclic loading. Soil specimens were prepared by wet-tamping method as same void ratio and specimen's silt contents on total weights was changed from 0% to 20%. Also, effects of the silt contents on the stress-strain response were studied at different anisotropic consolidation ratio, Kc=1.0, 1.5, 2.0 condition. As a result, cyclic shear strength decreased as silt contents increased in same stress ratios. In same silt contents, cyclic shear strength increased as Kc increased in lower silt contents, but in higher silt contents, it had reverse results.

  • Poly(DADM) was synthesized for the drinking water treatment. Poly(DADM) was produced by the free radical polymerization of diallyldimethylammonium chloride(DADM) monomer and its properties were characterized. The effects of monomer concentration, initiator concentration and reaction time on synthesis of poly(DADM) were investigated. Poly(DADM) flocculant was applied to Nak-dong river water to examine its efficiency in reducing turbidity. The synthesized poly(DADM) was effective as flocculant for drinking water treatment. The addition of 1 mg/L of poly(DADM) flocculant caused the reduction of 50% PAC(polyaluminium chloride).

  • This study is being done for the purpose to achieve a stable demand and supply of materials for long term. The author investigated condition of suitable mixer design method for concrete, an individual value and a character of dynamics as a supplement material by drying up the natural aggregate, and a possible practicalization plan to reduce defects to the minimum. As a result of this study, it can be acquired a good quality of concrete by the use of the natural sand (Nak Dong river sand) and the crushed sand with suitable mixing ratio. The fineness modulus (F.M) of mixing aggregate is $2.7\pm1$ at this time and this is good for workbility and plasticity of concrete.

GIUH Model for River Runoff Estimation (하천 유출량 산정을 위한 GIUH모델)

  • This study aims at the decision of geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph(GIUH) model parameter fore the ungaged or the data deficiented Basin, to analyze rainfall runoff relation in river basin by applying queueing theory with geomorphologic factors.The concept of GIUH model is based upon the principle of queueing theory of rain drops which may follow many possible routes during rainfall period within watershed system to ist outlet. Overland flow and stream flow can be simulated, respectively, by linear reservoir and linear channel conceptual models. Basically, the model is a mon-lineal and time variant hydrologic system model. The techniques of applying are adopted subarea method and mean-value method, the watershed is divided according to its stream number and order. To prove it to be applicable, the GIUH model is applied to the Wi-Stream basin of Nak-Dong River(Basin area; 475.53$\textrm{km}^2$), southen part of Korea. The simulated and the observed direct runoff hydrographs are compared with the peak discharge, times to peak and coefficients of efficiency, respectively, and the results show quite satisfactory.Therefore, th GIUH model can be extensively applied for the runoff analysis in the ungaged and the data deficiented basin.

  • The integrity evaluation of river levee includes slope stability evaluation of riverside land and protected low-land, and safety of piping with respect to critical gradient and critical velocity based on related regulations, such as Design Criteria Rivers Commentary (2009), Structural Design Criteria Based Commentary (2009). The design hydro-graph is the most important design input factor for the integrity evaluation; it can be inaccurate due to the absence of its decision methods suggested by the national level. The authors in this paper evaluated numerical analytic levee integrity for piping and slope stability by changing each design hydro-graph, including rising ordinary water level, lasting flood water level, falling water level, and flood frequency for Mun-san-jae on Nak-dong River. Finally, the authors suggested that the levee integrity of piping and slope stability are very sensitive to the changes of increasing time of ordinary water level by 57 hours and lasting time of the flood water level by 53 hours, respectively, for Mun-san-jae.
