Estimation of water quality distribution in freshing reservoir by satellite images

  • Kojima Lake in Okayama prefecture is a freshing reservoir constructed adjacent to the oldest reclaimed land in Japan. This lake has a serious water quality problem because two urban rivers are flowing into it. In the present study, unsupervised classification was performed at intervals of several years using Landsat MSS data in the past 15 years. After geometric correction of these data, MSS data corresponding geographically to the field observation data were extracted and subjected to the multivariate analysis. Water quality distribution in the lake was estimated using the regression equation obtained as a result. In addition, two - dimensional and three-dimensional numerical simulations were performed and compared with the distribution obtained from the satellite images. Behavior of the reservoir flows is complicated and water quality distribution varies greatly with the flows. Here, I report the results of analysis on three factors, field observation, numerical simulation and satellite images.

상관적 방법과 수리군락분류학적 방법에 의한 경북 북부지방 산지의 삼림식생의 식물사회학적 연구 (Phytosociological Study of the Forest Vegetation in the Mountainous Areas of the Northern Part, Kyungpook Province using the Methodology of Physiognomy and Numerical Syntaxonomy)

  • 상관적, 수리군락분류학적 방법에 의해 경상북도 북부지역의 일월산, 청량산, 미림산, 홍림산, 영등산, 아기산, 607고지 일대에 분포하는 삼림식생을 분류, 기슬하였다. 우점도에 기본을 두어 교목층의 종조합에 따른 상관적 의미의 분류에서는 크게 세 군(소나무군, 굴참나무군, 신갈나무군)에 통합되는 10군락이 구분되었다. 이 상관적 의미의 분류를 몇가지 군으로 통합할 때, 그것은 cluster분석의 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 그러나 TWINSPAN에 의한 분류에서는 크게 두 군락으로 구분되었으며, 상관적 의미에 있어서 굴참나무군과 소나무군의 차이는 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않았다. DCA서열은 TWINSPAN의 분류 결과와 잘 조화되었으며, 몇가지 환경경도를 설명하였다. 이상의 결과는 교목층의 종조합이 군락분류에 의미가 있음을 암시하였다. 또 위의 군락분류를 ZM식물사회학의 기존 군락체계와 비교, 고찰하였다.

Analysis of behavioral characteristics of liquefaction of sand through repeated triaxial compression test and numerical analysis

  • Liquefaction phenomenon refers to a phenomenon in which excess pore water pressure occurs when a dynamic load such as an earthquake is rapidly applied to a loose sandy soil ground where the ground is saturated, and the ground loses effective stress and becomes liquid. The laboratory repetition test for liquefaction evaluation can be performed through a repeated triaxial compression test and a repeated shear test. In this regard, this study attempted to evaluate the effects of the relative density of sand on the liquefaction resistance strength according to particle size distribution using repeated triaxial compression tests, and additional experimental verification using numerical analysis was conducted to overcome the limitations of experimental equipment. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the liquefaction resistance strength increased as the relative density increased regardless of the classification of soil, and the liquefaction resistance strength of the SP sample close to SW was quite high. As a result of numerical analysis, it was confirmed that the liquefaction resistance strength increased as the confining pressure increased under the same relative density, and the liquefaction resistance strength did not decrease below a certain limit even though the confining pressure was significantly reduced at a relatively low relative density. This is judged to be due to a change in confining pressure according to the depth of the ground. As a result of analyzing the liquefaction resistance strength according to the frequency range, it was confirmed that there was no significant difference from the laboratory experiment results in the basic range of 0.1 to 1.0 Hz.

군용전차(軍用戰車) 통과(通過)에 대한 도로교량(道路橋梁)의 안전도분석(安全度分析) 및 내하력판정(耐荷力判定) (Safety Assessment and Rating of Road Bridges against the Crossing of Heavy Military Tanks)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)에서는 군용전차의 교량통과시 노후도(老朽度)를 비롯한 각종 저항(抵抗) 및 하중(荷重)관련 불확실량(不確實量)을 체계적으로 포함한 한계상태모형(限界狀態模型)을 유도하고, 실용적이며 진보된 2차(次)모멘트 신뢰성(信賴性) 이론(理論)을 사용하여 군용교량(軍用橋梁) 및 일반교량(一般橋梁)의 신뢰성(信賴性)에 기초한 안전도(安全度) 분석방법(分析方法)과 하중저항계수(荷重抵抗係數) 형식의 급수계산방법(級數計算方法)을 제안(提案)하였다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)에서 제안(提案)하는 안전도(安全度) 분석(分析) 및 내하급수(耐荷級數) 판정방법(判定方法)을 몇 개의 실제 교량에 적용하여 보았다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)의 결과 현행 재래식 허용응력개념에 의한 NATO 급수계산방법은 실내하력(實耐荷力) 판정(判定)이 아닌 명목적인 급수판정방법에 불과함을 알 수 있으며, 따라서 본 연구에서 제시(提示)한 신뢰성방법(信賴性方法)에 의한 안전도(安全度) 분석방법(分析方法)과 하중(荷重)-저항계수(抵抗係數)형 급수 계산방법이나 이에 대응하는 합리적인 허용응력법(許容應力法)에 의한 실내하급수(實耐荷級數) 계산방법(計算方法)의 도입이 시급하다고 본다.

초음파 B-모드 영상에서 FCN(fully convolutional network) 모델을 이용한 간 섬유화 단계 분류 알고리즘 (A Fully Convolutional Network Model for Classifying Liver Fibrosis Stages from Ultrasound B-mode Images)

  • In this paper, we deal with a liver fibrosis classification problem using ultrasound B-mode images. Commonly representative methods for classifying the stages of liver fibrosis include liver biopsy and diagnosis based on ultrasound images. The overall liver shape and the smoothness and roughness of speckle pattern represented in ultrasound images are used for determining the fibrosis stages. Although the ultrasound image based classification is used frequently as an alternative or complementary method of the invasive biopsy, it also has the limitations that liver fibrosis stage decision depends on the image quality and the doctor's experience. With the rapid development of deep learning algorithms, several studies using deep learning methods have been carried out for automated liver fibrosis classification and showed superior performance of high accuracy. The performance of those deep learning methods depends closely on the amount of datasets. We propose an enhanced U-net architecture to maximize the classification accuracy with limited small amount of image datasets. U-net is well known as a neural network for fast and precise segmentation of medical images. We design it newly for the purpose of classifying liver fibrosis stages. In order to assess the performance of the proposed architecture, numerical experiments are conducted on a total of 118 ultrasound B-mode images acquired from 78 patients with liver fibrosis symptoms of F0~F4 stages. The experimental results support that the performance of the proposed architecture is much better compared to the transfer learning using the pre-trained model of VGGNet.

베이즈 리스크를 이용한 커널형 분류에서 평활모수의 선택 (On Practical Choice of Smoothing Parameter in Nonparametric Classification)

  • 커널밀도함수의 추정을 이용한 분류 문제에서 평활모수(smoothing parameter, bandwidth)의 선택은 핵심적으로 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 분류에서 베이즈 리스크를 최적화하기 위한 평활모수의 선택이 각 개별 확률밀도함수를 추정하기 위한 최적의 평활모수와 어떤 관계가 있는지 살펴보았다. 실제 상황에서 사용할 수 있는 평활모수의 선택 방법으로 붓스트랩(bootstrap)과 교차확인법(cross-validation)을 이용하는 것을 비교한 결과, 붓스트랩 방법은 Hall과 Kang (2005)에서 밝혀진 이론적인 성질에 부합하는 반면 교차확인법은 그렇지 못함을 확인하였다. 또한, 각 방법으로 정한 평활모수를 사용하여 오분류율을 조사해 본 결과에서도 붓스트랩 방법이 우월함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, site response analyses were performed based on equivalent linear technique using the shear wave velocity profiles of 162 sites collected around the Korean peninsula. The site characteristics, particularly the shear wave velocities and the depth to the bedrock, are compared to those in the western United States. The results show that the site-response coefficients based on the mean shear velocity of the top 30m ($V_{S30}$) suggested in the current code underestimates the motion in short-period ranges and overestimates the motion in mid-period ranges. Also the current Korean code based on UBC is required to be modified considering site characteristics in Korea for the reliable estimation of site amplification. From the results of numerical estimations, new regression curves were derived between site coefficients ($F_a$ and $F_v$) and the fundamental site periods, and site coefficients were grouped based on site periods in the regions of shallow bedrock. The standard deviations of the proposed method was reasonable compared to site classification based on $V_{S30}$. Finally, new site classification system is recommended based on site periods for regions of shallow bedrock depth in Korea.

군집분석을 통한 풍력자원 수평 공간 분포의 연직 변화에 관한 연구 (Study on vertical variation of horizontal wind energy resources distribution using clustering analysis)

  • Wind classification for exact estimation of wind energy resources was carried out using numerically simulated wind data for three years. The MM5(a fifth-generation Mesoscale Model), developed at Penn State University and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), was used to estimate the wind fields in this study. We also use a variant of the K-mean clustering to classify the wind district and define the relation between districts. Wind estimated at surface and 100 m high at Busan area is classified into the 10 and 7 classes, respectively. These discrepancies of wind districts pattern at surface and upper air meteorological data indicates the quantity of wind resources can be changed according to the level of wind data used in estimation. Therefore, the estimation of wind district classification by reasonable wind data is utilized to build the effective policy for wind energy dissemination.

북한 콘크리트 교량의 군용하중급수 평가 (Military Load Classification (MLC) on Concrete Bridges in North Korea)

  • 지난 60년이 넘는 시간동안 대한민국은 남과 북이 대치한 휴전상태로 각자 다른 기준을 가진 채 기반시설을 발전시켜 왔다. 특히 북한에서는 운송의 주요수단으로 철도를 사용하기 때문에 도로는 잘 발달하지 않았고 그 중에서 도로교량은 세계 기준보다 많이 낮은 수준이다. 이 논문에서는 전시라는 특별한 상황에서 북한교량을 어느 수준으로 판단하고 이용할 수 있느냐에 초점을 두고 북한의 3가지 콘크리트 교량의 표준 도면을 분석하여 군용하중급수 분류법에 따른 군용차량의 북한 콘크리트 교량의 이용 가능수준을 추정하였다. 그리고 상용프로그램을 활용한 유한요소해석을 병행하여 계산 값과 비교하였다.

鑛泉水 理化學的 水質評價 技法 에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Classification Technique of Natural Mineral Waters by Its Constitution and Physico-Chemical Properties)

  • Natural mineral water is generally quite different from ordinary drinking water due to its original nature and various properties. The complexity of natural mineral water requires, therefore, not only to identify its nature and proper characteristics, but also to classify them by a reasonable scientific basis of comparison. The study was concentrated on a possible classification technique to natural mineral waters by their constitutions and physico-ehemical properties. The classification was carried out by the computation of such numerical parameters as ionic equivalent percentage, electrolytic conductance or mobility, ionic molecular weight, molecular concentration, equivalent conductivity and degree of ionization in consideration of the determinative criteria as follows -particular single element or molecule -major components of natural waters as bicarbonate, sulphate, chloride,caloride, calcium, magnesium, and sodium -moleculat concentration related to blood osmotic pressure -water temperature at emergence from spring -contents of free carbon dioxide (CO2) -pH value of water -total dissolved solids or salts (NaCl) The results obtained proved out to be clearly distinguhhable from ordinary drinking water as far as concern natural mineral water as an example on the subject -simple water -bicarbonate-predominating water -cold spring -carbonated-non gaseous water -weak alkaline water -non saline water Putting these various results together, the sample turned out to be a kind of natural mineral water that can be used as a drinking water if microbiologically safe.
