The possibility of multiresidue analysis of 24 pesticides out of 30 residual pesticides which are subjected to test in the golf courses was examined. The utility of multiresidue method for pesticide residue test was evaluated by recovery test through a standard addition method of pesticides in water, soil, and lawn grass. The experimental results of the recovery test for individual pesticides are as follows : The number of pesticide of which average recovery rate was over 70% regardless of media was 16 pesticides. These pesticides were composed of 8 organophosphorus pesticides (chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifosmethyl, diazinon, EPN, fenitrothion, phenthoate, phosalone, and toclofos-methyl). 4-organochlorinated pesticides (daconil, captan, endosulfan, and tetradifon), 2-pyrethroid pesticides(fenpropathrin, lambda-cyhalothrin) and 2 other pesticides (bromopropylate, pendimethalin). On the other hand, in case of dicofol, average recovery rate was over 70% for water and lawn grass but only 53.3% for soil. Therefore, the multiresidue method applied in this experiment is not appropriate for analysis of dicofol in soil. Furthermore, among 7 pesticides, 2 pesticides(amitraz and pyraclofos) showed that theirs average recovery rate deviated from criteria($70{\sim}130%$) in almost ail media, while 5 pesticides(bensulide, deltamethrin, iprodione, phosphamidon and tralomethlin) were not detected from all media by GC/NPD or GC/ECD.

BACKGROUND: This study was conducted to investigate the levels of pesticide residues in fruits and to assess their risk to human health. METHODS AND RESULTS: Monitoring of 215 samples of fruits collected from local markets in incheon during 2013 was performed. 259 pesticides were analyzed by multi-residue method and Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and safe/Mass/Mass(QuEChERS/MS/MS) method using Gas Chromatography-Electron Capture Detector/Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector(GC-ECD/NPD), GC-MS, LC(Liquid Chromatography-Mass/Mass(LC-MS/MS) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Photodiode Array/Fluorescence Detector(HPLC-PDA/FLD). In 56.3% of the samples detected pesticide residues and were not found to exceed Maximum Residue Limits(MRL). The highest detected samples were found in citrus fruits(83.9%). Among the detected compounds, carbendazim(13.1%), imazalil (11.7%), thiabendazole(10.7%) and fludioxonil(9.8%) were frequently found in fruits. A risk assessment of pesticide residues in fruits was performed by calculating Estimated Daily Intake(EDI) and Acceptable Daily Intake(ADI). Also, we were evaluated removal efficiency of pesticide residues by washing and peeling. The removal efficiency of pesticide residues in citrus and tropical fruits by peeling processes were 91.6%. After the washing process, the removal rates were 43.1%(Cherry, Grape, Blueberry). CONCLUSION: The level of pesticide residues in fruits was within the MRL. The range of %ADI values was from 0.00011 to 0.98795%. The process of washing or peeling reduces the level of pesticide residues. The results of this research concluded that the detected pesticides are not harmful to human being.
This study was conducted to investigate the residue amount of harmful materials on the 113 commercial fruit teas (Gugija, Omija, Sansuyu) in Gwangju area. It was performed using the GC-ECD, GC-NPD, GC-MSD and the LC-UVD, LC-FLD, LC-MSD to analyze 200 pesticides. The heavy metals were determined using a Mercury analyzer and AAS. The sulfur dioxides were analyzed by modified Monnier-Williams method. The residual pesticides were detected in 4 samples (Gugija). The mean values of heavy metal contents (mg/kg) were Pb, 0.024; Cd, 0.031; As, 0.010; Hg, 0.003. The measured values of Pb, Cd, As, Hg showed within MRLs. The sulfur dioxides were over MRLs in 4 samples (Gugija). These results will be used to establish on the regulation of commercial fruit teas in Gwangju area.

Monitoring the pesticide residues in agricultural products is essential to protect consumers, obtain data for risk assessment, and ensure fair trade practices. We developed a multi-residue method for the analysis of 37 pesticides with different physico-chemical properties in agricultural products and analyzed the amount of pesticide residues on about 1,000 samples circulated in South Korea. The samples consisted of 26 different types of agricultural products selected at markets in 14 major cities; cereals (2 species), nuts (1 species) potatoes (1 species), beans (2 species), fruits (3 species), vegetables (16 species), and mushrooms (1 species). In this study, residual pesticides were detected in 23 samples (2.2%) and one sample was detected to be over maximum residue limits (MRLs, 0.1%) for pesticides in foods by the Korea food code. In leafy vegetables such as pepper leaves, radish leaves, cham-na-mul, shin-sun-cho, crown daisy, chwi-na-mul and citrus fruits such as kumquat, 8 kinds of pesticides were detected. Specially, diazinon were detected over MRLs and also, endosulfan, ethoprophos and phenthoate were detected frequently. Based on these results, we investigated the risk assesment from amount of residual pesticide, total %ADI was 1.262%, but the value has not effected on human health.
This study was to investigate the organophosphorus insecticide residues in crops including five kinds of vegetables and two kinds of fruits. The pesticides investigated in spring-radish, spring Chinese cabbage, cucumber and tomato were diazinon, DEP and malathion, in unripe pepper EPN and PAP, in peach EPN, parathion and demeton-methyl, and in grape EPN, PAP and MEP. All samples were analysed by gas chromatographic technique with NPD detector. No one sample was found to approach proposed national maximum residue limits in Korea.

Sundried salt was recently registered in food category in Korea in 2008, and food hygiene regulation only applied to several heavy metals and a few inorganic ions. In this report, we investigated the residual amounts of tricyclazole, a highly concerned contaminant from agricultural activity, and estimated their daily intake and hazard index. All 60 sundried salts were collected by region, and qualitatively and quantitatively were analyzed with GC-NPD. In this investigation, only three samples were confirmed the residual tricyclazole in sundried salts. Their maximum residue was $1.7{\mu}g/kg$, and their estimated average daily intake was $2.40{\times}10^{-8}{\sim}6.22{\times}10^{-8}mg/kg-day$. From these results, HI of tricyclazole for sundried salts was $7.53{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}2.07{\times}10^{-6}$ for Koreans, and the values were not considered as serious risk issues currently.
This study was conducted to investigate the residue amount of harmful materials on the 153 commercial medical herbs in Gwangju area. The residual pesticides were detected in 7 samples, and were over MRLs (Maximum Risk Levels) in 2 samples (1.3%). The mean values of heavy metal contents (mg/kg) were Pb, 0.570; Cd, 0.081; As, 0.082; Hg, 0.0093. The measured values of Pb, As, Hg showed within MRLs. The excess samples of MRLs were 3 samples (changchul 2, cheongung 1) on Cd. The sulfur dioxides were over MRLs in 7 samples (4.6%), hwanggi and gugija. These results will be used to establish on the regulation of commercial medical herbs in Gwangju area.

Multiresidue method was set up for the simultaneous determination of various residual pesticides in potatoes and carrots, which was analyzed by gas chromatography-electron capture detector/nitrogen phosphorus detector. Method consisted with acetone/acetonitrile (9 : 1) extraction and dichloromethane partition, followed by florisil cartridge purification with hexane/dichloromethane/acetonitrile (50 : 45 ; 5) elution. Among 197 pesticides (194 kinds) spiked to food materials, 143 and 155 pesticides were recovered over 70% on potatoes and carrots, respectively. Nineteen pesticides including bromacil, cyproconazole, were not detected in water and sample matrices. Matrix components may affect the low detections of 25 pesticides such as benfuracarb, bitertanol from potatoes and 16 pesticides such as bitertanol, carbosulfan from Carrots. Some pesticides including dichlobenil, fluoroimide and iprodione were highly detected from one or both matrices even though they were not detected from water.

BACKGROUND: This study was conducted to monitor the current status of pesticide residues and to assess their risk in domestic agricultural products. The samples were rice, barley, lettuce and perilla leaf. These four types of agricultural products were those with GAP(Good Agricultural Practice) certification, organic agricultural products, pesticide-free agricultural products or general agricultural products. METHODS AND RESULTS: They were purchased from traditional markets and supermarkets of 12 regions in Korea from July to August 2010. The total number of samples was 259 for agricultural products and these were analyzed by GC/ECD, GC/NPD and GC/MSD. We used multiresidue methods to analyze for 110 different pesticides except for herbicides. CONCLUSION: In this study, residual pesticides were detected in 18 samples. Among these general agricultural products, organic agricultural products and products with GAP-certification were detected in 12, 4 and 2 samples, respectively. Detection rates of general agricultural products, organic agricultural products and products with GAPcertification were 4.6%, 1.5% and 0.8% respectively. Pesticides were not detected in pesticide-free agricultural products. Their detection levels were less than their maximum residue levels. Their estimated daily intakes ranged from 0.0003% to 0.04302% of their acceptable daily intakes, of which the values have no effect on human health.
