Implementation of Very Large Hangul Text Retrieval Engine HMG (대용량 한글 텍스트 검색 엔진 HMG의 구현)

  • In this paper, we implement a gigabyte Hangul text retrieval engine HMG(Hangul MG) which is based on the English text retrieval engine MG(Managing Gigabytes) and the Hangul lexical analyzer HAM(Hangul Analysis Module). To support Hangul information, we use the KSC 5601 code in the database construction and query processing stages. The lexical analyzer, parser, and index construction module of the MG system are modified to support Hangul information. To show the usefulness of HMG system, we implemented a NOD(Novel On Demand) system supporting the retrieval of Hangul novels on the WWW. The proposed system HMG can be utilized in the construction of massive full-text information retrieval systems supporting Hangul.

  • 비디오 데이타는 다양하고 방대한 양의 의미를 포함하고 있어 효율적인 내용기반 검색을 지원하기 위해서는 비디오 데이타를 기술하는 구조적이고 체계화된 형태의 메타데이타가 요구된다. 이러한 메타데이타는 검색 시 색인과 같은 역할을 수행하게 되므로 내용 기반검색의 가장 기본적이고 필수적인 데이타이다. 본 논문에서는 뉴스 응용 분야(News On Demand:NOD)를 적용한 비디오 데이터베이스 시스템의 효율적인 내용 기반 검색을 위한 메타데이타를 분류하고, Rambaugh의 OMT기법을 이용하여 메타데이타를 모델링한 후 질의 유형에 따라 모델의 접근 경로를 검사하여 모델을 검증하였다.

  • Some properties for negatively orthant dependent sequence are discussed. Some strong limit results for the weighted sums are obtained, which generalize the corresponding results for independent sequence and negatively associated sequence. At last, exponential inequalities for negatively orthant dependent sequence are presented.

  • 본 연구에서는 실시간 데이터와 비 실시간 데이터가 복합적으로 존재하는 뉴스 데이터에 적합하도록 버퍼 캐쉬를 실시간 데이터와 비 실시간 데이터 영역으로 분할 한 후, 로그 데이터를 이용하여 접근 가능성이 높은 실시간 뉴스데이터를 프리팻칭하여 둠으로써 실시간 뉴스 데이터의 운영을 효과적으로 할 수 있는 새로운 버퍼 캐쉬 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방식을 이용함으로써 전체 뉴스 요청 건수 중 30% 이상의 요청 건수들이 디스크를 접근하지 않고 버퍼의 데이터를 접근함으로써 버퍼링 기법을 사용하지 않은 경우보다 실시간 지원에 필요한 디스크 접근 수를 줄일 수 있다.

  • In an attempt to revies the informations about genes involved in symbiotic nitrogen fixation, developmental processes in which host plant interact with microbe during nodule formation were introduced first. The structure, function and regulation of the genes discussed were mainly about microbial genes; those involved in the process of nodule formation (nod-genes) and of nitrogen fixation (nif-genes). Informations about the host genes involved in the symbiosis were discussed briefly.

Immunomodulatory effects of chlorogenic acid and ethyl acetate fraction from Lonicera japonica on cytokine gene expression profiles in spleen and thymus (Chlorogenic acid 및 인동등 ethyl acetate 분획의 비장 및 흉선 세포에서의 유전자 발현 분석을 통한 면역조절효과)

  • Objective : Lonicera japonica contains anti complementary polysaccharides and polyphenolic compound. Among these polyphenolic substances, chlorogenic acid is the major active component of this plant. However, the immunological mechanisms for these activities, have not been elucidated, nor the active components. To clarify immunomodulatory effects of those we examined the relationship between the activity of CD8+ T cell-mediated lysis and the frequency of cytokine profiles in spleen, thymus (especially IFN-${\gamma}$, IL-4, GM-CSF etc.) expressing CD8+ T cells activated by IL-2. Methods : To study immunomodulatory effects ethyl acetate fraction from Lonicera japonica, chlorogenic acid on cytokine gene expression from spleen, thymus cells, RT-PCR was performed after quantitative normalization for each gene by a densitometry using ${\beta}$-actin gene expression. A modified standard $^{51}Cr$-release assay was used to measure cytotoxic activities of cytotoxic T cells. Spleen, thymus cells from NOD mice were stained with CD3, CD4, CD44, CD69 in staining buffer and analyzed by two color flow cytometry. Results : We showed that ethyl acetate fraction from Lonicera japonica in combination with IL-2 resulted in a significant enhancement of PCR products for IFN-${\gamma}$, IL-4, IL-10, GM-CSF, IL-6 and cytotoxtic CD8+ T cell proportion in spleen and thymus T cells in NOD mice. This suggests that IFN-${\gamma}$, IL-6 like IL-4 may be acting as a regulatory rather than proinflammatory cytokine. Conclusions : In conclusion, based on the results of the present study which showed that ethyl acetate fraction from Lonicera japonica and chlorogenic acid upregulating cytokine gene expression in spleen and thymus, we are tempted to speculate that some of the therapeutic efficacies such as anti-diabetic activity of Lonicera japonica are due to the immunomodulatory its ethylacetate fraction and chlorogenic acid.

Efficient Browsing Method based on Metadata of Video Contents (동영상 컨텐츠의 메타데이타에 기반한 효율적인 브라우징 기법)

  • The advancement of information technology along with the proliferation of communication and multimedia has increased the demand of digital contents. Video data of digital contents such as VOD, NOD, Digital Library, IPTV, and UCC are getting more permeated in various application fields. Video data have sequential characteristic besides providing the spatial and temporal information in its 3D format, making searching or browsing ineffective due to long turnaround time. In this paper, we suggest ATVC(Authoring Tool for Video Contents) for solving this issue. ATVC is a video editing tool that detects key frames using visual rhythm and insert metadata such as keywords into key frames via XML tagging. Visual rhythm is applied to map 3D spatial and temporal information to 2D information. Its processing speed is fast because it can get pixel information without IDCT, and it can classify edit-effects such as cut, wipe, and dissolve. Since XML data save key frame information via XML tag and keyword information, it can furnish efficient browsing.

HDDM, a formula consisting of seven herbs, had anti-diabetic but no immunomodulatory activities in multiple low doses of streptozotocin-treated female of B6C3F1 mice

  • The objectives of this study were to determine the effect of herb formula HDDM, a modification of Huangdan decoction that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of glomerulonephritis and chronic renal failure, on the blood glucose levels in multiple low doses (MLD; 50 mg/kg for five consecutive days) of streptozotocin (STZ)-treated female B6C3F1 mice. Initial studies were performed to compare diabetes induction in five strains (e.g., B6C3F1, NOD, CD-1, C3H/HeN and C57BL/6) of mice by MLD-STZ, and immune changes following the treatment. The results suggested that the order of susceptibility to diabetes induction was NOD $\approx$ CD-1 > B6C3F1 $\approx$ C3H > C57BL/6. Furthermore, STZ modulation of T cell development, differentiation and activation might play a role in diabetes induction by MLD-STZ treatment. MLD-STZ-induced diabetes in female B6C3F1 mice was moderate, which allowed the evaluation of drug-induced protection or exacerbation of diabetes to be performed. As such, modulation of blood glucose by HDDM, which consisted of Da Huang (Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei), Huang Qi (Radix Astragali Seu Hedysari), Dan Shen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae), Yin Yang Huo (Herba Epimedii), Yi Yi Ren (Semen Coicis or Coix lacryma-jobi), Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) and Shan Zhu Yu (Fructus Corni), was evaluated in MLD-STZ-treated female B6C3F1 mice. The results suggested that HDDM could lower the blood glucose levels, but it had no immunomodulatory activities. Additionally, HDDM-treated mice exhibited improved glucose tolerance. In conclusion, these studies have suggested that MLD-STZ-induced diabetes in female B6C3F1 mice is a useful model to evaluate drug modulation of diabetes, and that the herb formula HDDM possesses anti-diabetic effects.
