Development and Application of a Computerized Nursing Process Program for Orthopedic Surgery Inpatients - NANDA, NOC, and NIC Linkages - (정형외과 입원환자를 위한 간호과정 전산프로그램 개발 및 적용 - 간호진단, 간호결과, 간호중재 연계 -)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and to apply the NANDA, NOC, and NIC (NNN) linkages into a computerized nursing process program using the classification systems of nursing diagnoses, nursing outcomes and nursing interventions. Method: The program was developed with planning, analysis, design and performance stages. The program was applied to 117 patients who were admitted to orthopedic surgery nursing units from January to February, 2004. Results: Thirty-five of fifty-three nursing diagnoses were identified. Five nursing diagnoses in order of frequency were: Acute pain $(28.4\%)$, Impaired physical mobility $(15.6\%)$, Impaired walking $(8.7\%)$, Chronic pain $(5.5\%)$ and Risk for disuse syndrome $(5.0\%)$. The nursing outcomes of the 'Acute pain' nursing diagnosis tended to have higher frequencies (cumulative) in order of Pain management $(95.2\%)$, Comfort level $(35.5\%)$ and Pain level $(17.7\%)$. The nursing interventions of the 'Acute pain' nursing diagnosis tended to have higher frequencies (cumulative) in order of Pain management $(71.0\%)$, Splinting $(24.2\%)$ and Analgesic administration $(17.7\%)$. In comparison of outcome indicator scores between before and after the intervention according to the 61 nursing outcomes, the mean scores of 52 outcome indicators after the intervention were significantly higher than before the intervention. Conclusion: It is expected that this program will help nurses perform their nursing processes more efficiently.

Structures and Magnetic Properties of Monomeric Copper(II) Bromide Complexes with a Pyridine-Containing Tridentate Schiff Base

  • Two novel copper(II) bromide complexes with pyridine containing Schiff base ligands, $Cu(pmed)Br_2$ and $Cu(pmed)Br_2$ where pmed = N'-((pyridin-2-yl)methylene)ethane-1,2-diamine (pmed) and dpmed = N,N-diethyl-N'-((pyridin-2-yl)methylene)ethane-1,2-diamine (dpmed) were synthesized and characterized using X-ray single crystal structure analysis, optical and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Crystal structural analysis of $Cu(pmed)Br_2$ showed that the copper(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the trigonality index of ${\tau}=0.35$ and two intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which result in the formation of two dimensional networks in the ab plane. On the other hand, $Cu(pmed)Br_2$ displayed a near square-pyramidal geometry with the value of ${\tau}=0.06$. In both compounds, the NNN Schiff base and one Br atom occupy the basal plane, whereas the fifth apical position is occupied by the other Br atom at a greater Cu-Br apical distance. The reported complexes show $g_{\mid}$ > $g_{\perp}$ > 2.0023 with a $d_{x2-y2}$ ground state and a penta-coordinated square pyramidal geometry. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements showed that the developed copper(II) complexes follow the Curie-Weiss law, that is there are no magnetic interactions between the copper(II) ions since the Cu--Cu distance is too far for magnetic contact.

A vibration-based approach for detecting arch dam damage using RBF neural networks and Jaya algorithms

  • The study presents a new hybrid data-driven method by combining radial basis functions neural networks (RBF-NN) with the Jaya algorithm (JA) to provide effective structural health monitoring of arch dams. The novelty of this approach lies in that only one user-defined parameter is required and thus can increase its effectiveness and efficiency, as compared to other machine learning techniques that often require processing a large amount of training and testing model parameters and hyper-parameters, with high time-consuming. This approach seeks rapid damage detection in arch dams under dynamic conditions, to prevent potential disasters, by utilizing the RBF-NNN to seamlessly integrate the dynamic elastic modulus (DEM) and modal parameters (such as natural frequency and mode shape) as damage indicators. To determine the dynamic characteristics of the arch dam, the JA sequentially optimizes an objective function rooted in vibration-based data sets. Two case studies of hyperbolic concrete arch dams were carefully designed using finite element simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RBF-NN model, in conjunction with the Jaya algorithm. The testing results demonstrated that the proposed methods could exhibit significant computational time-savings, while effectively detecting damage in arch dam structures with complex nonlinearities. Furthermore, despite training data contaminated with a high level of noise, the RBF-NN and JA fusion remained the robustness, with high accuracy.

Analysis of the Characteristics of Water Quality Difference Occurring between High Tide and Low Tide in Masan Bay (만조와 간조시 마산만 수질의 농도차 발생 특성의 분석)

  • Slack-tide sampling was carried out at 6 stations at high and low tide for a tidal cycle during spring tide of the early summer (June) and summer (July, August) of 2016 to determine the difference of water quality according to tide in Masan Bay, Korea. The mixing regime of all the water quality components investigated was well explained through the correlation with SAL. In the early summer and summer, TURB, DSi and NNN which mainly flow into the bay from the streams and SS, COD, AMN and $H_2S$ which mainly indicate the internal sink and source materials have a property of conservative mixing and non-conservative mixing, respectively. The conservative mixing showed a good linear relationship of the water quality between high and low tide, and the non-conservative mixing showed a variation of different pattern each other. Factor analysis performed on the concentration difference data sets between high and low tide helped in identifying the principal latent variables for them. In early summer, multiple effects (tidal action, natural influx and internal sinks and sources etc.) acted in combination for the differences to be distributed evenly in four factors (VF1~4), since there were few allochthonous inputs as a low-water season. On the contrary, in summer, the parameters showing large concentration difference at ST-1 affected by stream water were concentrated in one factor (VF1) and clearly distinguished from the parameters affected by the internal sinks and sources. In fact, there is no estuary (bay) that always maintains steady state flow conditions. The mixing regime of an estuary might be changed at any time due to the change of flushing time, and furthermore the change of end-member conditions due to the internal sinks and sources makes the occurrence of concentration difference inevitable. Therefore, when investigating the water quality of the estuary, it is necessary to take a sampling method considering the tide to obtain average water quality data.

Environmental Exposure to Tobacco-specific Nitrosamines in an Area Near a Fertilizer Plant (비료제조공장 인근 지역의 담배특이니트로사민 환경 노출)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate environmental exposure to tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) by conducting an analysis of the concentration of TSNAs in deposited dust collected from a fertilizer plant and the surrounding village, a simulation of high-temperature drying of tobacco waste, and CALPUFF modeling. Methods: The raw materials of the products, deposited dust (inside and outside the plant and residential area), soil, and wastewater were sampled and the TSNA concentrations were analyzed by LC-MS/MS. As the plant was closed down before the investigation, simulation tests were conducted to confirm the substances discharged during high-temperature (300℃) drying of tobacco waste. CALPUFF modeling was performed to identify the area of influence due to exposure to TSNAs. Results: TSNAs were detected in organic fertilizers estimated to contain tobacco waste, deposited dust, and soil collected from inside and outside the plant. N'-nitrosonornicotine (NNN), 4-(methylnitrosoamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), and N'-nitrosoanatabine (NAT) components were detected in five of 15 deposited dust samples collected from the residential area around the plant, while TSNAs were not detected in the five sampling points in the control area. Also, the simulation test for the high temperature drying of tobacco waste found emissions of TSNAs. The CALPUFF modeling results showed that the survey area was likely to be included in the area of influence of TSNA emissions from the plant. Conclusions: It is estimated that harmful tobacco ingredients such as TSNAs were dispersed in nearby areas due to the illegal use of tobacco waste as a raw material to produce organic fertilizers at the plant. These findings assume that the residents have been exposed to TSNAs and suggest that the need for the establishment of measures to manage environmental health.

Fabrication of NNO structure NVM and comparison of electrical characteristic (NNO구조의 비활성 메모리 제작과 소자의 전기적 특성 분석)

  • 반도체 및 전자기기 산업에 있어 비활성메모리 (NVM)는 중요한 부운을 차지한다. NVM은 디스플레이 분야에 많은 기여를 하고 있으며, 특히 AMOLED에 적용이 가능하여 온도에 따라 변하는 구동 전류, 휘도, color balance에 따른 문제를 해결하는데 큰 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 NNN 구조에서 터널 층을 $SiN_X$ 박막에서 $SiO_XN_Y$ 박막으로 대체하기위한 $SiO_XN_Y$ 박막을 이용한 NNO구조의 NVM에 관한 연구이다. 이로 인하여 보다 얇으면서 우수한 절연 특성을 가지는 박막을 사용함으로써 실리콘 층으로부터 전하의 터널링 효과를 높여 전하 저장 정도를 높이고, 메모리 retention 특성을 향상시키는 터널 박막을 성장 시킬 수 있다. 최적의 NNO 구조의 메모리 소자를 제작하기 위하여 MIS 상태로 다양한 조건의 실험을 진행하였다. 처음으로 블로킹 박막의 두께를 조절하는 실험을 진행하여 최적 두께의 블로킹 박막을 찾았으며, 다음으로 전하 저장 박막의 band gap을 조절하여 최적의 band gap을 갖는 $SiN_X$ 박막을 찾았다. 마지막으로 최적두께의 $SiO_XN_Y$박막을 찾는 실험을 진행하였다. MIS 상태에서의 최적의 NNO 구조를 이용하여 유리 기판 상에 NNO 구조의 NVM 소자를 제작하였다. 제작된 메모리 소자는 문턱전압이 -1.48 V로 낮은 구동전압을 보였으며, I-V의 slope 값 역시 약 0.3 V/decade로 낮은 값을 보인다. 전류 점멸비($I_{ON}/I_{OFF}$)는 약 $5\times10^6$로 무수하였다. $SiN_X$의 band gap을 다양하게 조절하여 band gap 차이에 의한 밴드 저장 방식을 사용하였다. 또한 $SiN_X$은 전하를 전하 포획(trap) 방식으로 저장하기 때문에 본 연구에서의 메모리 소자는 밴드 저장 방식과 전하 포획 방식을 동시에 사용하여 우수한 메모리 특성을 갖게 될 것으로 기대된다. 우수한 비휘발성 메모리 소자를 제작하기 위해 메모리 특성에 많은 영향을 주는 터널 박막과 전하 저장 층을 다양화하여 소자를 제작하였다. 터널 박막은 터널링이 일어나기 쉽도록 최대한 얇으며, 전하 저장 층으로부터 기판으로 전하가 쉽게 빠져나오지 못하도록 절연 특성이 우수한 박막을 사용하였다. 전하 저장 층은 band gap이 작으며 trap 공간이 많은 박막을 사용하였다.

Effects of Phyto-Extract Mixture on the Nicotine Decomposition (식물추출혼합물의 니코틴 분해능에 미치는 효과)

  • Cotinine, one of nicotine metabolites, has been blown to reduce 4-(methylnitro samino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone(NNK)- induced $O^{6}$MeG DNA adducts significantly in A/J mice when administered together with NNK. In order to examine the effects of phyto-extract mixture on the conversion of cotinine from nicotine, cellular and clinical experiments were carried out. When the phyto-extract mixture was added to culture media, human liver cells (FLCFR5) produced cotinine from nicotine 2~3 times compared to the control. The phyto-extract mixture which was microinjected into Xenopus oocyte along with nicotine showed the almost similar production of cotinine compared with the results of hepatic cell culture. In clinical test employing 17 to 20 healthy men, concentrations of urinary cotinine derived from smoking after taking photo-extract mixture increased up to 2 times compared to the control group. These results indicatethat the phyto-extract mixture can increase the metabolic efficiency of nicotine to cotinine, leading to the reduced formation of $O^{6}$MeG DNA adducts.
