  • Internet protocol television (IPTV), one of the most emerging services, offers multimedia streaming services with security, reliability, and relevant quality of service (QoS)/quality of experience (QoE). It provides added values to all the involving players and also brings technical and business challenges to them. For IPTV services, we expect to adopt the next generation network (NGN) environment for high quality and the Web technologies for personalization to meet the customer's necessity. Web can provide an open, flexible, and agile platform. Therefore, in this paper, we propose personalized IPTV services based on Web-based open platform in NGN environment and present functional architecture for Web-based personalized IPTV services. Technical issues for deploying the proposed IPTV services using Web are also provided. The objective of this paper is to analyze the critical architectural issues for developing viable and feasible networking platform models for personalized IPTV services.

  • 현재의 IPTV 시비스는 VoD+PPV와 같이 단순한 형태로 서비스를 제공하고 있다. IPTV 서비스 사업자들은 IPTV의 새로운 수익모델인 양방항성 통신특성에 최적화된 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 양방향 통신의 대표적인 서비스로는 T-commerce가 있다. T-commerce 서비스 제공시 IPTV 가입자의 정보가 제3의 서비스 사업자로 전송되기 때문에 개방된 IP망에서 가입자의 정보가 전송되므로 개인정보보호의 중요성이 커지게 될 것이다. 양방향 서비스를 제공하면서 개인정보보호를 유지하는 방안으로 ID를 통합적으로 관리하는 기술인 IdM(Identity Management)을 IPTV에 적용하는 방안이 고려되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 NGN(Next Generation Network)기반 IPTV의 IdM 적용방안에 대해 기술한다.

QoS Model for Supporting high Quality Multimedia Services (고품질의 멀티미디어 서비스 제공을 위한 QoS 모델)

  • This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. We have tested quality measurement test for VoIP/MoIP, VoD, IPTV services and analyzed the level of QoS and QoS degradation by constructing test laboratory consisted of 46 subscribers which provided by 3 telecom operators. Besides, We propose QoS Model to apply for BcN application based on analysis result and prove proposed model by constructing test lab in KOREN environment. It is expected that telecom will use this results as a valuable information to construct All-IP network based on NGN(NGN:Next Generation Network).This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. Interconnecting Methods of Web based IPTV Contents Provider to IMS and Its Characteristics (IMS 네트워크에 웹기반 IPTV 콘텐츠 사업자 접속 방식 및 특성)

  • In the near future IPTV services will be emerged the various types through Internet, but IMS based IPTV service is one of the very attractive IPTV services. This paper describes the interconnecting architectures of Web based IPTV contents provider to IMS(IP Multimedia System) network and describes the three difference architectures as method to find its IP address. One is the architecture using DNS or HSS to find IP address of Web based IPTV contents provider and connecting gateway function to I-CSCF in IMS. The other is the architecture connecting gateway AS to ISC interface of S-CSCF in IMS. This paper describes the characteristics of traffic generating due to interconnect the Web contents provider, and the traffic model of each architectures. The proposed each architecture is emulated the session establishment delay characteristics in CoD service of IPTV by the simulation. This paper shows that the architecture connecting gateway AS to ISC interface of S-CSCF is the excellent method compare to other two methods in view of the session establishment delay.

  • IMS(IP Multi-Media Subsystem) is in the limelight as the Integrated wire and wireless Systems because of a sudden increase of smart mobile devices and growth of multimedia additional services such as IPTV. The structure of IMS is designed as a session control layer to provide various multimedia summative service using SIP based on IP communication network in order to carry out set-up, change and release by NGN of course, the existing voice services. But now It is broadly substituting in the IPTV, wire phone company and it is substituted in internet platform base on the soft-switch in currently. Especially, in currently, 4G LTE in a mobile communication company is rapidly growing in market. Therefore, in this study, we had designed and developed to the main prosser that can admit to 1000 user over and SIP gateway which can link the IMS Core that can link SIP Device which adopt the standard protocol on the SIP and to provide variable multimedia services.

  • In this paper, we propose video quality control system(VQCS) which can control video service quality through the monitoring of end-to-end available bandwidth for video streaming service like IPTV in NGN convergence network. Various multimedia services such as video, voice and gaming service can be provided by IPTV, and these services require large amounts of bandwidth. At this time, video quality degradation like video jerkiness, block distortion and blurring is caused when network available bandwidth is insufficient. Available bandwidth monitoring method is need to stably control video streaming quality. So, we periodically calculate the amount of the packets in link and measure available bandwidth by using total length field in IP header at terminal. Scalability extractor in network selects suitable video streaming data rate based on available bandwidth and transports video streaming with adaptive data rate to prevent video quality deterioration.
