In South Korea, social, the number of single-person households has rapidly increased because of financial factors. Since single-person households have characteristics differentiated from general households, many enterprises pay attention to them that appear as important consumers. This study conducted a survey with consumers in their 20s to 50s in single-person households, nationwide who had an experience of purchasing HMR. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, of the benefits pursued in dietary life, the pursuit of nutrition a negative (-) impact on RTH type and did not have any impacts on the RTE and RTC types. The pursuit of taste had a positive (+) impact only on the RTE type while it did not have any impact on the RTH and RTC types. The pursuit of convenience had positive (+) impacts on all RTH, RTE and RTC types, while the pursuit of price sought did not have any impact on all types. Second, of the preferences by each HMR type, preferences for the RTH and RTC types had positive (+) impacts on purchase intention while preference for the RTE type did not have any impact on purchase intention. Third, of the benefits pursued in dietary life, the pursuits of taste and convenience had positive (+) impacts on purchase intention while the pursuits of nutrition and price did not have any significant impacts on purchase intention. In addition, of the benefits pursued in dietary life, the pursuit of convenience had a significant impact on purchase intention mediated by preference by each HMR type. As a result, taste of HMR and the aspects of convenience act as factors inducing purchases, and products in the various forms of taste and convenience in order to appeal consumers who pursue taste and convenience.
The Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty was ratified in 1991. With the aim to ensure comprehensive protection of the Antarctic environment, it contains provisions on environmental protection and conservation of the Antarctic area, including provisions for Environmental Impact Assessment. Environmental Impact Assessment is a method used to predict environmental impacts at an early stage in project planning and design, and find ways to mitigate or prevent adverse impacts in order to maintain balance between development activities and environmental conservation. Internationally, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in the Antarctic is classified into three types - preliminary, Initial, and Comprehensive - based on the environmental impacts of the proposed activities. In case of the Preliminary Environmental Review (PER), proposed activity may proceed in accordance to the national procedures and drafting of an outline. However, Initial (IEE) and Comprehensive Environmental Evaluation (CEE) assess and verify the impacts of the proposed activity, and require methods or alternatives for mitigating or eliminating negative impacts on the environment. Although Korea's Act of 'Activities and Environmental Protection in Antarctica' also includes provisions on EIA for activities in Antarctica, there are obvious contrasts with the EIAs currently being conducted in Korea, in regards to deciding the level of EIA through screening and identifying key issues for assessment through scoping. In order to implement the proper EIA, more improved methods for drafting and reviewing the EIA to Antarctica in Korea are necessary.
The Korean dairy sector has experienced the negative impact with the market liberalization for dairy products as a result of the UR Agreement on Agriculture. Futhermore the current WTO DDA agricultural negotiation seems to make the greater negative impact on the Korean dairy sector. It is because that the ongoing negotiations on agriculture will likely result in further reductions of domestic support as well as reduction of tariffs and expansion of the market access. Therefore it's time for us to prepare the effective measures coping with the movement of the further dairy market liberalization. The main purpose of the study is to summarize and illustrate some of the major issues in the current WTO negotiation on agriculture. Also the paper presents some policy implications and missions so as to minimize the negative impacts of agricultural trade liberalization on the Korean dairy sector.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the influence of local residents' nature environment attitudes for National Park development impact perceptions and to examine application possibility of nature environment attitude for resolution information of National Park management conflicts. Thirty items of residents' perceptions and opinions were designed from previous tourism impact studies. The new environmental paradigm(NEP) was used to measure local residents' nature environment attitudes. In April, 2003, 239 questionnaires were obtained from interview survey in local residents' villages near Gyearyongsan National Park. Generally, most of the local residents perceived low economic effects and negative environment impacts for National Park development. Nature environment attitudes levels were significant differences with socioeconomic variables of local residents, specially high in age, education level and influenced their perceptions toward National Park development impacts. The results were suggested that the nature environment attitudes could be provided a useful reverential framework in resolution of National Park management conflicts.
This study is based on the sport event(mountains marathon race 2005 in Jecheon) of social and cultural impact. The results were as fallows: Factor analysis of 19 positive impact items produced five dimensions and factor analysis of 9 negative impact items produced two dimensions. As an example of results, younger generations (those in 20s and 30s) and service employees tended to perceive the impacts of the sport event more positively than other age or occupation groups. Thus, the results indicated that attitudes toward the event are likely to differ across socio-demographic characteristics.

The study examines economic and environmental impacts of mass tourism on regional tourism destinations, particularly the establishment of "Ten New Bali", in Indonesia. The sample is restricted to the period of time in which annual data is available and comparable among variables from 1980 to 2015 (36 observations). All of the time series data was collected and retrieved from the World Development Indicator database published by the World Bank. This study applies cointegrating regression analysis using the fully modified OLS, canonical cointegrating regression, and dynamic OLS. The results of the study suggest that 1) there is a long-run equilibrium relationship between tourism receipts, environmental degradation and economic growth in Indonesia, 2) tourism growth and agriculture land growth are positively related to an increase of total output in the short-run in Indonesia, and 3) arable land is significant at the 0.01 level, but forest rents and CO2 from transport are not significant in the short-run in Indonesia. The results confirm that arable land is negatively related to an increase of total output in Indonesia. That is, when tourism growth in the economy is getting realized it shows that the environmental degradation increases greatly in inverse in the model, eventually negative impacts to the environment.
Objective: This study aimed to introduce Health Impact Assessment using the case of a HIA on 2008 Dream Start Project in Cheongju. Methods: We followed the typical procedure of HIA recommended by the Merseyside Guidelines on HIA. In scoping, the steering committee decided 5 key domains of child health to be assessed: prenatal care, vaccination, nutrition, access to health care, and child abuse and also the methods of collecting the evidence. The HIA appraisal team collected information from various sources including literature, community survey, and focus group interviews. The HIA appraisal team also synthesized the collected information in terms of the nature of health impacts and equity and made recommendations accordingly. Results: Positive impacts were expected in prenatal care, vaccination, and nutrition, while negative impacts were expected in access to health care. The impact of Dream Start on child abuse was uncertain. Several recommendations were made and submitted to the Dream Start team for their consideration. About 2 years later, we found many of them were implemented in 2009 Dream Start project. Conclusion: HIA was found to be applicable and effective to make decision makers in the welfare sector consider health in their work.
Coastal development works generally increase the suspended sediment concentration of the ambient water, causing environmental impacts in various manners. The most active measures in three sides have been reviewed for their applicabilities in Korea. Referring to the cases in the USA, the legislation of environmental windows seems to be not proper for Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Developments (ESSD) until sufficient scientific data are obtained to address the individual issues of potential negative impacts. Feedback monitoring can be regarded as the best way for ESSD. Korea also has the basic legal system for the feedback monitoring as well as Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). However, the frequency, period and parameter of related surveys should be improved for the true ESSD. Moreover, environmental facilities such as environmental dredgers should be widely used for mitigating environmental Impacts caused by coastal development works.
Purpose - The portability, functionality, and convenience of smart phones are constantly updated. With the rapid popularization of users of mobile terminals, Xiaomi is also developing rapidly. In February 2015, the users of Xiaomi exceeded 100 million people. As a transnational industry, Xiaomi has developed rapidly in not only China but also Korea. Research design, data, and methodology - Figure analysis of data and social science analytical software of IBM SPSS AMOS 23.0 and IBM Statistics 23.0 were used for all the data researched. Results - First, the innovative diffusion temperament and the compatibility of Xiaomi have positive impacts on achievement expectations and effort expectations. Second, the innovative diffusion temperament and the complexity of Xiaomi have negative impacts on achievement expectations and effort expectations. Third, the innovative diffusion characteristics and the relative superiority of Xiaomi have positive impacts on achievement expectations and effort expectations. Conclusions - Through the analysis of the prior study, the innovation acceptance characteristics consist of compatibility, complexity, relative superiority, observation possibility, and the attempt possibility; the technical acceptance characteristics consist of achievement expectations, effort expectations, social influence, promotion condition, the study conducts relevant research on the continued use intention and analyze the hypothesis of research model.
Purpose: COVID-19 has negatively influenced the financial performance of restaurant firms. Previous literature suggests that the franchising strategy effectively helps restaurant firms recover from difficult business conditions through various methods for expanding business size and enhancing business efficiency. According to risk-sharing theory, restaurant franchisors may minimize operational risks by sharing the risks with their franchisees. For instance, restaurant franchisors could generate more stable cash flow using franchise fees from their franchisees. However, research on the effect of franchise's risk reduction factor on business performance during pandemic is scarce. Thus, this study aims to examine the positive moderating effect of franchising between COVID-19 and restaurants' financial performance. Research design, data, and methodology: Panel data including financial information and franchising status of restaurant firms were collected for analysis. In order to control for unobserved firm-specific factors, generalized least squared estimation in fixed effects model was conducted. Huber-White robust standard errors were used to deal with heteroscedasticity issues. Results: It was found that COVID-19 pandemic has a negative effect on the restaurants' financial performance such as ROA (return on assets), ROE (return on equity), and PM (profit margins), which confirms the findings from existing literature. More importantly, results show that the degree of franchising has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between COVID-19 and financial performance of restaurant firms. This suggests that more active engagement in franchising may decrease negative impacts of COVID-19 on the restaurants' financial performance. Conclusions: The study supports existing literature related to risk-sharing theory, by confirming that pandemics, such as COVID-19, negatively affect financial performance of the restaurants. Furthermore, it was found that franchising strategy can help lessen negative impacts of pandemics on the firm performance. These findings can contribute to the franchise and restaurant management literature by suggesting the role of franchising in reducing business risks, thereby positively affecting financial performance. Moreover, this study offers business managers of franchisors and franchisees insights for utilizing franchising in restaurant risk management. Policymakers may also gain information on aiding restaurant firms during global crisis, such as COVID-19.
