  • Some 420 species of higher fungi were collected from the Mt. Paekdu, Songwha river and their adjacent areas from 28th July to 12th of August, 1991 and identified to 2 subdivisions, 4 classes, 2 subclasses, 12 orders, 51 families, 141 genera and 336 species. The dominant species were Clitocybe gibba, C. clavipes, ystoderma amianthinum, Hygrocybe flavescens, H. miniata, Russula cyanoxantha, R. metica, Lactarius lignyotus, L. torminosus and Phellinus igniarius. The species found in Mt. Paekdu were newly described; Amanita muscaria var. regaris, Volvariella species var. speciosa, Cortinarius alboviolaceus, C. violaceus, Inocybe geolilacina, I. hirtella var. hirtella, Boletinus paluster, Crepidotus badiofloccosus, Lactarius circellatus var. circellatus, L. controversus and L. cilicioides.

  • In a survey of seed-borne mycofloras of Glycine max, 21 species have been isolated. Alternaria tenuis, Aspergillus spp., Cercospora kikuchii, Penicillium spp. and Fusarium spp. were the predominant fungi. C. kikuchii was isolated more often from purple stained seed than from unstained seed, and Fusarium spp., Phomopsis sp., Aspergillus spp. and Penicillium spp. were isolated less frequently in stained than unstained seeds. In inoculation experiments, C. kikuchii, Colletotrichum dematitum, Phomopsis sp. produced mild to severe symptoms on leaves when suspension of their conidia and mycelia were sprayed on to plants. In soil inoculation experiments, Fusarium oxysporum, F. moniliforme and F. semitectum showed pathogenicity causing seed rot and seedling blight.

  • Total 50 species, 80 strains: Eighty strains of yeasts were isolated from wild flowers of Daejeon city and its surroundings in Korea. Isolated yeasts were identified by comparison of their PCR-amplified 18s rDNA V3 region or internal transcribed spacer-2 (ITS-2) genes with BLAST database. Among them, 32 species, 54 strains of yeasts were isolated and identified from wild flowers of Daejeon city, and Cryptococcus species were dominant yeasts. Furthermore, 18 species, 26 strains of yeasts were isolated and identified from wild flowers of Geumsan-gun and Nonsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do in Korea, and also Candida species and Pseudozyma species were dominant yeasts.
