기존 음악 장르 분류의 경우 음악의 특징 추출 또는 기계학습을 중점적으로 연구되어왔다. 하지만 자동 분류에 필요한 장르 데이터는 음악을 제공하는 웹 사이트마다 다르고, 각 웹 사이트의 장르 분류는 해당 음악이 아닌 앨범의 장르를 표시한다. 보다 나은 자동 분류를 위해서는 일관된 장르 데이터의 제공이 필요한데, 본 논문에서는 이러한 연구의 일환으로 여러 웹사이트에서 수집한 장르 데이터에 따른 판별 성능을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 장르 분류 방법에 따라 신경망 학습 및 판별성능이 큰 차이가 발생하였다.

The success of K-Pop music industry continues as there is a new light shedding on the new Korean wave. There is a continuous discussion about the sustainability of the idol's dance music because of its limit in the uniform genre. As a solution to improve the quality of K-pop music, researchers said to supplement it through the change of educational system in the applied music. However, research into how much the education of applied music is contributing to the continuous success of the K-Pop music industry and how each industry is affecting each other was inadequate. Therefore, this study will understand the association between the K-Pop and the applied music, and look into ways that can act as a mutual supplementation for both fields. Subjects of analysis included performing artists, composers, arrangers, lyricists, and singers for songs within the top 100 of the digital total ranking for the past three years in the Gaon chart which is the official music chart for Korea. Then, the study apprehended how many of those subject had relations with the applied music and their activity frequency. As a result, there were a considerable number of K-Pop performers, at 41.74%, who also majored in the applied music. To continue to tendency of Korean wave and develop the Korean popular music, this study will explore roles each industry should cooperate in the future. There were the formation of social atmosphere for increase of consumer's needs to diverse K-pop music and change of education for training its human resources that K-pop industry demand.

This paper proposes an effective tempo feature extraction method for music information retrieval. The tempo information is modeled by the narrow-band temporal modulation components, which are decomposed into a modulation spectrum via joint frequency analysis. In implementation, the tempo feature is directly extracted from the modified discrete cosine transform coefficients, which is the output of partial MP3(MPEG 1 Layer 3) decoder. Then, different features are extracted from the amplitudes of modulation spectrum and applied to different music information retrieval tasks. The logarithmic scale modulation frequency coefficients are employed in automatic music emotion classification and music genre classification. The classification precision in both systems is improved significantly. The bit vectors derived from adaptive modulation spectrum is used in audio fingerprinting task That is proved to be able to achieve high robustness in this application. The experimental results in these tasks validate the effectiveness of the proposed tempo feature.

This study analyzes Cho, Yong- Pil's contribution on K-Pop history as he celebrates the 50th anniversary of his debut. The history of K-Pop, when Cho has been active in, is divided into three periods. From the late 1960s to the early 1980s was a period when trots and rocks were popular. Soft rock, heavy metal, and ballads came in from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s. From the late 2000s to the present, dance music, mostly hook songs, has dominated. In every inflection point of K-Pop history, he contributed to the development throughout various musical genres. In the first period, he introduced rock music with the unique emotion of Korea by combining the trot and the rock genre. In the second period, he contributed to the development of both rock and ballad genres. In the third period, his hook songs were released to the controversy, but it contributed to creating an atmosphere in which the vocal ability of the vocalist in idol groups was emphasized in the K-pop scene.

in the conclusion, appealing ways of expression regarding a wider and more variated range are to be tested and it is stressed the necessity of this to be shown to the general public through an ongoing constructive research on the originality of contents arising from the diversity of music genres And, concerning dance music, it is also pointed out the necessity of in-depth research on the rhythms that take into account the universal emotions of the general public to create diverse music that harmonizes with the dance and can be enjoyed by all. In the world of music, just a simplest attempt can bring about many changes. Depending on the identity of those who lead it, that change's appearance or shape may also be different. Moreover, changes arisen from testing simplified rhythms will let experts to create new music. K-Pop is to test, more than anything, diverse strategies and new changes to be selected by such a wide public. However, such changes ought not to degenerate into mere imitations and can neither become obsolete. The reason lies in the fact that the current efforts for the sake of diversification and creativity of K-Pop genre might well remain as the traditional elements of the K-pop of the future.

본 논문에서는 딥 러닝을 이용한 오디오 장르 분류 기술을 제안한다. 장르는 music, speech, effect 3가지로 정의하여 분류한다. 기존의 GMM을 이용한 장르 분류 기술은 speech의 인식률에 비해 music과 effect에 대한 인식률이 낮아 각 장르에 대한 인식률의 차이를 보인다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 딥 러닝을 이용해 높은 수준의 추상화 과정을 거쳐 더 세분된 학습을 진행한다. 제안한 방법을 사용하면 미세한 차이의 특성까지 학습해 장르에 대한 인식률의 차이를 줄일 수 있으며, 각 장르에 대해 GMM을 이용한 오디오 장르 분류보다 높은 인식률을 얻을 수 있다.

Animated images formats such as WebP are highly portable graphics formats that are being used everywhere on the Internet. Despite their small sizes and duration, WebP image previews the video without watching the entire content with minimum bandwidth. This paper proposed a novel method to generate personalized WebP images in the client side using its computation resources. The proposed system automatically extracts the WebP image from climax point using music analysis. Based on user interest, the system predicts the genre using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The proposed method can easily integrate with streaming platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and others.

The Musical Theatre was a popular art genre that originated from the western musical tradition represented by the European opera. In the twentieth century, it bloomed around Broadway in the United States. It is also one of the commercial arts which is popularly loved by the public in the field of performing arts all over the world at present. Due to the nature of this genre, the development of dramas and the expression of characters use music, not words or gestures, as the main medium. And the style of music reacts sensitively to the taste of the public, not to a particular class. When Japan colonized Korea, the empire strongly believed modernization equaled westernization and Japan was the one who could awaken Korean. The Japanese colonial music education was intended to bring cooperation and obedience to Japan by forcibly injecting Japanese ideology and culture into Joseon people. The music education of colonialism with the textbook of the "Songs for public education(보통교육 창가집)" compiled by the Japanese government was a sparkstone for the conversion of the Korean musical identity to Japanese and Western music. In addition to the capitalistic economical mechanism for establishing a South Korean government friendly with the United States during the Cold War after liberation, and the rush of American Pop culture represented by 'the show stage in 8th US Arm' and 'movies' which are to be the influence of invisible 'new cultural imperialism', our traditional music was confined to the meaning of 'Korean music', meaning 'past music'. In Korea, after the liberation, the musical was introduced by the influx of American popular culture. In accordance with the cultural policy of Park Jeong-hee regime, which aimed to spread the 'healthy culture' through the modernization of traditional arts, 'The Yegreen(예그린악단)' was founded. However, the plan to create a contemporary performing art based on Korean national arts showed the possibility of success in 1966 with the success of , but soon after, they have been destined to fall into an institution that has lost their ability to operate on their own due to the suspension of the sponsorship of the regime. Due to the cultural imperialist strategy of the influence of Japanese imperialism's colonial music education and influx of American popular culture after liberation, in the early days of Korean musicals, our traditional aesthetic style brought about the situation of the 1960 's, which did not become an independent ethnic art through the exchange and expansion with Western music. This is the background of the western licensed musicals led by the Korean musical market in the 21st century as well as the main cause of musical creation based on western music.

Samul nori/Pungmul-gut is the symbol of ethnic identity for the Koreans abroad. It is the representative diaspora musical genre which is performed many cultural events held by Koreans. It is, at the same time, a global music which is appreciated by not only the Koreans but also the foreigners. Many musical communities in various countries exhibit the cultural migration through the discourse of 'tradition/variation' and 'authenticity/hybridity' in the course of the acculturation and enculturation of samul nori/pungmul-gut. The pungmul-pae 'Bichoe June' active in Toronto, Canada was organized by a foreign performer. For the foreigners pungmul-gut is easy to access as a genre of world music. As a percussion ensemble, it is easy to learn for the foreigners. The pungmul-pae 'Bichoe June' is a 'music community' consist of the Koreans and foreigners. The band tries to preserve the traditionality and authenticity of the Korean music. There is no variation or hybridity in its music since the member still learns the authentic music through various available textbooks and internet sites. Through the participation of the Koreans and foreigners, the band stimulates the globalzation of the pungmul-gut. The enculturation of the pungmul-gut is exhibited in two performances held by the band. One was host by the Canadian progressive group and the other was by the Korean conservative community. The former understood the nature of pungmul-gut as the music of the common people. The latter, however, accepted the music as the representative traditional music but was not easy to enjoy the 'noisy' music. In other words, the positive/negative acceptance of the pungmul-gut depends of the ideological nature of the listeners rather than the ethnical nature.

This study investigated the effects of three music genres (classical, new age, and rock) on the stress levels of six Jeju crossbred horses (Jeju horse × Thoroughbred) in a horse stable. The horses were exposed to the three genres for seven days, and their stress levels were measured by analyzing physiological markers, including neurotransmitter (cortisol, β-endorphin, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin) plasma levels and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) and aldolase serum levels. The neurotransmitter analysis showed significant differences in cortisol levels between classical and new age music exposure. Dopamine levels decreased significantly only with new age exposure. Although there were no significant differences in β-endorphin levels between the three genres, β-endorphin levels decreased with increasing classical and new age music playback times and increased with increasing rock music playback times. There were no significant differences in serotonin levels between the three genres. Oxytocin levels decreased significantly with exposure to classical and rock music. The CPK and aldolase analyses showed that CPK levels decreased significantly only with exposure to new age music and increased after playback ended, while aldolase levels decreased significantly with classical and new age music exposure and increased after playback ended. These findings suggest that classical music and new age are the optimal music genres for the psychological stability of Jeju crossbred horses. Playing back an appropriate music genre could be used to improve breeding and promote the welfare of Jeju crossbred horses.
