Using Bi-Digital O-Ring Test which was developed by Ohmura Toshiaki, constiution classification by the vegetables' was Measured by various muscle power measurement meters and the results are as follow: 1. Pinch Gauge (Model:pc5030HPG, Japan) is the gauge to measure finger power between the thumb and the second finger, Grip Strength Dynamometer (Model: T.K.K. 5101, Japan) is to measure the hand power (hand dynamometer), Back Strength Dynamometer (Model: T.K.K. 5102, Japan) is to measure back muscle strength, Vertical jump Meter (Model: T.K.K. 5106, Japan) is to measure the height of jump. The above gauges were and its result found that the radish, potato, carrot and cucumber can influence to muscle strength was not true. 2. When the physical constitution is distinguished by the O-Ring Test method, Taeyangin's rate appeared as average 21% although it was insisted that there will be only 0.03-0.1%. This means that the physical constitution but it appears accidently according to the examinee's emotion about the material such as vegetable etc. as favor or unfavor. 3. It was found that the result of O-Ring Test is the same at any time and at any place was not true. there is no reemergence character. 4. The import of O-Ring Test mehtod to the physical discrimination disregarded that the mental factor influences absolutely to the physical heath in the ideological physi cal constitution medical science. 5. 'O-Ring Test method is a objective judgement method.' is wrong judgement. As you see on the above result, Bi-Digital O-Ring Test set the changeable voluntary muscle as the standard of the judgument, that was first mistake logically, second in spite of leass influence of mental influence by the examiner and examinee than the vegetable discrimination influence, the test disregarded the influence. Third, only grasp of some material on hand can influence to the voluntary muscle was a wrong theory disregarding the physiology. Finally the misunderstaning his subjective view as an objective view in spite of examiner and examinee's strong influence. Therefore such kind of physical descrimination method must be sublated.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined training on the physical fitness of male short distance athletes. Methods: Combined training was applied with CLT and isokinetric training three times a week for eight weeks. For CLT, elastic bands were used in the sitting and standing positions to gradually increase sprint and skating movements. Isokinetic training was conducted at $60^{\circ}/sec$ and $180^{\circ}/sec$ to improve muscle strength and muscle power. Results: After the application of combined training, strength (hand force) improved from 42.25 kg to 47.30 kg. Muscle power for standing long jump improved from 240.00 cm to 248.80 cm, while the sergeant jump improved from 55.00 cm to 58.00 cm. Isokinetic testing showed that muscle strength ($60^{\circ}/sec$) improved from 315.65 %BW to 365.79 %BW for the left extensor and from 306.60 %BW to 325.00 %BW for the right extensor. The left flexor improved from 177.23 %BW to 189.47 %BW, but the right flexor decreased slightly from 210.87 %BW to 201.53 %BW. Muscle power ($180^{\circ}/sec$) improved from 254.00 %BW to 293.00 %BW for the left extensor and from 256.00 %BW to 272.00 %BW for the right extensor. The left flexor improved from 150.00 %BW to 162.00 %BW and the right flexor from 145.25 %BW to 182.00 %BW. Conclusion: Combined training could be used as a physical training program for male short distance athletes.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report clinical effects of oriental medical treatments with acupuncture treatment on peroneus longus muscle for two patients with foot drop by Herniated Intervertebral Lumbar Disc(HIVD). Method : The patients were diagnosed as HIVD, and were treated by oriental medical treatments including acupuncture treatment on peroneus longus muscle. And we measured Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Range of Motion (ROM) of ankle joint, Manual Muscle testing(MMT) and checked the subject power of ankle joint. Result : After acupuncture treatment on peroneus longus muscle, the movement and power of ankle joint were improved in two cases. Conclusion : Acupuncture treatment on peroneus longus muscle showed significant effect on two patients with foot drop patients by HIVD.
In the present study, thirteen healthy volunteers performed lumbar extension exercises at 48$^{\circ}$/s, loaded by 40, 50, 60kg(about 44, 55, 66% of maximum voluntary contraction). During the whole period of exercises, electromyographic(EMG) signal was measured in the erector spinae muscle in order to determine muscle fatigue. Using the wavelet transform, EMG signal was separated by various frequency ranges in the time-frequency domain, and muscle fatigue was analyzed, comparing with the results based on the median frequency(MDF). MDF shifted toward the lower frequency ranges with the muscle fatigue, showing a single characteristic frequency. On the other hand, wavelet transform of EMG signals resulted in increased power amplitude in lower frequency ranges(0-125Hz), and decreased power amplitude in higher frequency ranges(375-468Hz). This study reveals that the muscle fatigue during dynamic movement is explained better by wavelet analysis.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of increased saddle height on the length and activity pattern of vastus lateralis (VL) and biceps femoris (BF) muscle. To compare the effects of increased saddle height, Preferred (self-selected height of subject) and High saddle height (approximately 5% higher saddle height than self-selected) were used. Seven elite cyclists (career: $16.1{\pm}8.5years$) participated in 3 min. sub-maximal pedaling tests under the same cadence (90 RPM) and pedaling power (150 W). Hip and knee joint angles, and the length and activity of VL and BF were compared by measuring 3D motion and electromyography (EMG) data. Results showed that there were significant differences in peak extension timing of the hip joint angle and the range of motion of the hip and knee joint between different saddle heights. Although there were significant differences in muscle length of both muscles with increasing saddle height, the timing and amount of muscle activity differed only at the BF. These findings suggest that the timing and amount of bi-articular muscle activity (i.e. BF) can be altered by changing the saddle height. For practically applying these results, further study is necessary to evaluate the effects of various cadence and the pedaling power with various saddle heights.

Background: Although studies and interest in sarcopenia have increased, it is still a matter of debate which muscle mass index better represents the aging process. We compared 3 indices for muscle mass (appendicular skeletal muscle mass [ASM]/weight, $ASM/height^2$, and the body mass index [BMI]-adjusted muscle mass index [ASM/BMI]) to determine which better reflected the aging process in terms of the decline in bone mineral density (BMD), visual acuity (VA), hearing power, renal function, pulmonary function, and handgrip strength. Methods: We performed a retrospective cross-sectional study using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in the Korean population. Between 2008 and 2011, a total of 14,415 men and 17,971 women aged 10 years or older participated in the study. We plotted the changes in the 3 indices of muscle mass and compared these with changes in BMD, VA, hearing power, renal function, pulmonary function, and handgrip strength according to each age group. Results: The ASM/BMI showed similar changes in terms of surrogate markers of the aging process, while the ASM/weight and $ASM/height^2$ showed no correlation. Conclusions: Among muscle indices for sarcopenia, only the ASM/BMI represented the aging process.
Skeletal muscle fatigue is defined as a 'any reduction in the maximal capacity to generate force or power output', and is the reduction of oxygen consumption and by-product of metabolism. For the muscle fatigue therapy, low level laser has been introduced that leads the mitochondrial respiratory and attributes the muscle fatigue recovery. This study analyzed the muscle fatigue signals from electromyography(EMG) during low-level laser therapy (LLLT). Healthy subjects performed voluntary elbow flexion-extension excercise and received placebo LLLT and active LLLT using a 830 nm laser diode. Then, EMG were measured for the evaluation of muscle fatigue. The acquired EMG data were analyzed with median frequency and short time fourier transform methods. The results showed that the LLLT had a significant symptomatic relief of muscle fatigue based on the EMG frequency analysis. Therefore, the muscle fatigue analysis with EMG signals can be applied to quantitative evaluation for the monitoring of LLLT effects.
To generate expressed sequence tags for genomics research involving genetic linkage analysis, to examine gene expression profiles in muscles of channel catfish in a non-normalized muscle cDNA library, to compare gene expression in young and mature channel catfish muscles using the EST reagents and gene filters to demonstrate the feasibility of functional genomics research in small laboratories. 102 randomly picked cDNA clones were analyzed from the catfish muscle cDNA library. Of the sequences generated, 90.2% of ESTs was identified as known genes by identity comparisons. These 92 clones of known gene products represent transcriptional products of 24 genes. The 10 clones of unknown gene products represent 8 genes. The major transcripts (70.1% of the analyzed ESTs) in the catfish muscle are from many major genes involved in muscle contraction, relaxation, energy metabolism and calcium binding such as alpha actin, creatine kinase, parvalbumin, myosin, troponins, and tropomyosins. Gene expression of the unique ESTs was comparatively studied in the young and adult catfish muscles. Significant differences were observed for aldolase, myostatin, myosin light chain, parvalbumin, and an unknown gene. While myosin light chain and an unknown gene (CM 192) are down-regulated in the mature fish muscle, the aldolase, myostatin, and parvalbumin are significantly up-regulated in the mature fish muscle. Although the physiological significance of the changes in expression levels needs to be further addressed, this research demonstrates the feasibility and power of functional genomics in channel catfish. Channel catfish muscle gene expression profiles provide a valuable molecular muscle physiology blueprint for functional comparative genomics.
Motor ability were hypothesized to be major factors that may have an influence on IADL(instrumental activities of daily living). The purpose of this study was to investi gate the effect of motor ability of elderly on IADL. This study consisted of forty eight elder male and ninety elder female. The subjects were selected from L, S, Y-institution in kyoung ki do. The average age of elder male and female was 73.81, 71.38 years. IADL was measured with Philadelphia Geriatric Center IADL. The result of this study were the following : 1. The factor of significant difference of between elder male and female was muscle strength, flexibility, power but no significant difference was agility, balance. 2. Between IADL of elder male and female was no significant difference. 3. Correlation of IADL and Motor ability of elder male had effect on muscle strength and power, agility. Correlation of Body composition and Motor ability of elder female had effect on muscle strength and power, agility. As a result of this study, optimal motor ability of elder male and female had improved IADL. In addition to, this result of this study, it can suggested the consideration of the Health promotion program for elderly.
Objective: To examine the effects of different shoe weights on lower leg muscle fatigue when walking by electromyographic (EMG) analysis due to the most effective weight for loading not being established. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Thirty healthy university students (15 male, 15 female) were enrolled and randomly assigned into three conditions, which included wearing athletic shoes with an addition of 300 g, 500 g, and 1,000 g weights respectively. Prior to walking, all subjects were instructed to sit in a chair for 10 minutes. All subjects walked at a speed of 3.6 m/s on a treadmill for 20 minutes without rest. EMG measurements were taken using the median power frequency to assess for the effect of the different weight of shoes on muscle fatigue of the soleus, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior while walking on a treadmill in an upright posture. EMG measurements were taken during the first and last 30 seconds of walking. Results: In terms of muscle fatigue, for the soleus, the median power frequency was significantly lower with 1,000 g compared with 300 g and 500 g (p<0.05). For the tibialis anterior, the median power frequency was significantly lower with 1,000 g than 300 g and 500 g (p<0.05). For the gastrocnemius, the median power frequency was significantly lower with 1,000 g compared with 300 g (p<0.05). Conclusions: Increased shoe weight increases soleus, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior muscle fatigue during ambulation.
