4G 이동통신을 위한 Multiple-Antenna OFDM 기술

  • 본 고에서는 Beyond IMT-2000 시스템의 전송방식으로 고려 중인 multiple-antenna OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 방식에 대하여 기술한다. OFDM 방식은 무선채널에서 고속으로 데이터 전송을 하고자 할 경우 다중경로에 의해 발생하는 심각한 주파수 선택적 페이딩 채널에 쉽게 대처할 수 있고, 셀내 간섭이 존재하지 않으며, 자원 할당의 granularity가 우수하고, FFT와 1-탭 등화기를 사용하여 고속으로 구현할 수 있다는 장점이 있어 4G 이동통신의 전송 방식으로 최근 활발히 연구되고 있다[1]-[4].(중략)

  • In this paper, a novel particle swarm optimization method based on IE3D is used to design a mobile communication Microstrip Patch Antenna. The aim of the thesis is to Design and fabricate an inset fed rectangular Microstrip Antenna and study the effect of antenna dimensions Length (L), Width (W) and substrate parameters relative Dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$), substrate thickness on Radiation parameters of Band width. When the antenna was designed, a dual-band, dual-polarized antenna was used to secure the bandwidth and improve performance, and a coaxial probe feeding method so that the phased array of antenna is easy.

  • In this paper, we propose beamsapce MIMO(mulitple input multiple output) system using patch ESPAR(Electronically Steerable Parasitic Array Radiator) antenna. When using conventional monopole ESPAR antenna, we have advantages cost of hardware and power consumption of RF cirsuit because of single RF chian. But it is difficult to apply to small portable mobile device. Therefore we design patch ESPAR antenna in order to reducing volume and analyze performance of BS MIMO system that is able to MIMO communication with single RF chain. In This paper, we confirm beam pattern of designed patch ESPAR antenna is steered as ${\pm}15^{\circ}$ elevation angle. Furthermore, we design BS MIMO system using this ESPAR antenna and confirm BER performance of this system.

  • In this paper, we design and implement SPA (Switched Parasitic Antenna) antenna which can control its beampattern using multiple parasitic elements. By applying SPA antenna to wireless communication system and implementing beamforming scheme, we show that SPA antenna can be used to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. SPA antenna consists of a single active antenna and multiple parasitic elements around the active one, and can control its beampattern by switching the parasitic elements. Using this characteristic of the SPA antenna, it is possible to impelemtent beamforming technique with single RF chain, which enables to design low cost, low complexity and low power wireless communication systems. In order to verify the beamforming gain, we measure and analyze the system level performance, such as SNR, PER, and throughput.

  • The modern wireless communication system employes the beamforming technique based on a massive array antenna with a number of elements, for supporting the smooth communication services. A reliable beamforming technology requires the Angle-of-Arrival(: AOA) information for the signal incident to the receiving antenna, which is generally estimated by the high-resolution AOA estimation algorithm such as Multiple Signal Classification(: MUSIC). Although the MUSIC algorithm has the excellent estimation performance, it is difficult to estimate AOA in real time for the massive array antenna due to the extremely high computational complexity. In order to enhance this problem, in this paper, we propose the cascade AOA estimation algorithm based on a Flexible Massive Concentric Circular Array(: FMCCA) antenna with the On/Off function for antenna elements. The proposed cascade algorithm consists of the CAPON algorithm using some elements among entire antenna elements and the Beamspace MUSIC algorithm using entire elements. We provide computer simulation results for various scenarios to demonstrate the AOA estimation performance of the proposed approach.

  • In this paper, we propose a $M{\times}M$ beam-space multiple input multiple output (BS-MIMO) system using electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna. Conventional MIMO method required multiple RF chains because it map the transmission signals onto multiple antennas. So, conventional MIMO system has high cost for design and high energy consumption at RF circuit. Also, It is difficult to use MIMO system in battery based mobile terminals with limited physical area. In order to solve these problems, BS-MIMO technique which map the data signal onto bases in beam space domain was proposed using ESPAR antenna with single RF chain. This paper, we design and analyze the performance of extended $M{\times}M$ BS-MIMO technique. Simulation results show that the proposed BS-MIMO system has similar BER performance compare to conventional MIMO scheme. Therefore, BS-MIMO system with single RF chain will has a low RF power consumption and low cost for RF hardware design as compared with conventional MIMO technique with multiple RF chains.

An Intercell Interference Reduction Technique for OFDM-based Cellular Systems Using Virtual Multiple Antenna (OFDM 기반 셀룰러 시스템에서 가상 다중안테나를 이용한 셀간 간섭 감쇄 기법)

  • In this paper, an intercell interference (ICI) reduction technique is proposed for OFDM-based cellular systems using the concept of virtual multiple antenna where multiple antenna techniques are performed on a set of subcarriers, not on the actual antenna array. The proposed technique is especially effective for user terminals with a single antenna at cell boundary in fully-loaded OFDM cellular systems with a frequency reuse factor equal to 1. Proposed ICI reduction techniques developed for SISO and MISO environments are shown to be robust to symbol timing offsets and efficient for various cell environments by adjusting group size depending on the number of adjacent cells. Also, the concept of a virtual signature randomizer (VSR) is introduced to improve channel separability in the virtual MIMO approach. It is shown by simulation that the proposed techniques are effective in reducing ICI and inter-sector interference compared with the conventional methods.

  • In this paper, we will design a 800MHz broadband antenna after a problem of the narrow bandwidth is improved. This multiple band antenna unifies the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), GSM(Global System for Mobile Telecommunication) and TRS(Trunked Radio System) band in the UHF band, and then it is possible at the shore base station or repeater as the commercial use. It used the duplex resonance effect it had the L-shared feeding structure which adds the U-slot. And it improved profit using stack structure. It was measured that the frequency bandwidth of the designed antenna which is planed $792{\sim}1040MHz$ with 248MHz(33%). And the antenna gain is 9.4dBi, 3dB beam width $60^{\circ}$ in radiation pattern.

  • Multiple Antenna Technologies such as Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and Beamforming provide the increase of channel capacity and the reliability of wireless link. To obtain these advantages, WiBro, Mobile WiMAX and $4^{th}$ Generation System are employing multiple antenna technologies. There exist, however, many technical issues in considering the application of the technologies or the providing of services using them. In this paper, various technical topics are discussed and simple solutions are proposed. Beamforming has several technical issues which include coverage imbalance, difficulties in providing Multicast-Broadcast Service (MBS). In Addition, network planning is a critical point from a cell extension and initial network entry point of view. In case of MIMO, network deployment is discussed in that cellular data network such as WiBro has many repeaters. MIMO mode selection for maximizing the cell capacity is also covered.

  • In this paper, we propose a new beamforming method which is used in Multiple User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) system. An experimental system consists of LTE based TDD base-station which has 2 MIMO elements each of which contains 10-array antennas and 2 mobile terminals each of which has a single antenna. We demonstrate that the Multiple Access Interference can further be reduced by appending a beamforming procedure in MU-MIMO system in which various users share a given channel resource. The proposed algorithm is the ordinary Lagrange beamforming algorithm combined with Zero-Forcing. It is demonstrated that the proposed beamforming method outperforms a conventional method which is the ZF at least by 8dB in terms of SNR through computer simulations. From experimental tests, we verify the feasibility of the proposed beamforming algorithm for realizing a practical LTE based TDD base-station for utilizing channel resources more efficiently.
