The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of increasing the efficiency of disaster relief rescue operations through collaboration among multiple aerial and ground robots. The robots create 2.5D maps, which are merged into a 2.5D map. The 2.5D map can be handled by a low-specification controller of an aerial robot and is suitable for ground robot navigation. For localization of the aerial robot, a six-degree-of-freedom pose recognition method using VIO was applied. To build a 2.5D map, an image conversion technique was employed. In addition, to merge 2.5D maps, an image similarity calculation technique based on the features on a wall was used. Localization and navigation were performed using a ground robot to evaluate the reliability of the 2.5D map. As a result, it was possible to estimate the location with an average and standard error of less than 0.3 m for the place where the 2.5D map was normally built, and there were only four collisions for the obstacle with the smallest volume. Based on the 2.5D map building and map merging system for the aerial robot used in this study, it is expected that disaster response work efficiency can be improved by combining the advantages of heterogeneous robots.

The HeartWare Ventricular Assist Device (HVAD) was widely used for mechanical circulatory support in patients with end-stage heart failure. However, there have been reports of a critical issue with HVAD pumps failing to restart, or experiencing delays in restarting, after being stopped. This case report describes 2 instances of HVAD failure-to-restart during heart transplantation surgery and routine outpatient care. Despite multiple attempts to restart the pump using various controllers and extensions, the HVAD failed to restart, triggering a hazard alarm for pump stoppage. In one case, the patient survived after receiving a heart transplantation, while in the other, the patient died immediately following the controller exchange. These cases highlight the rare but life-threatening complication of HVAD failure-to-restart, underscoring the importance of awareness among clinicians, patients, and caregivers, and adherence to the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for HVAD management.
In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's sensor signals of vehicle. In order to measure the ECU's sensor signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and the Embedded Linux is used to monitor communication result through Web the Embedded Linux system and this system is said "ECU Interface Part". In ECU Interface Part the interface circuit is designed to match voltage level between ECU and SA-1110 micro controller and interface circuit to communicate ECU according to the ISO, SAE communication protocol standard. Because Embedded Linux does not allow to access hardware directly in application level, anyone who wants to modify any low level hardware must develop device driver. To monitor ECU's sensor signals the most important thing is to match serial level between ECU and ECU Interface Part. It means to communicate correctly between two hardware we need to match voltage and signal level, and need to match baudrate. The voltage of SA-1110 is 0 ${\sim}$ +3.3V and ECU is 0 ${\sim}$ +12V and, ECU's communication Line K does multiple operation so, the interface circuit is used to match voltage and signal level. In Addition to ECU's baudrate is 10400bps, it's not standard baudrate in computer environment. So, we need to develop a device driver to control the interface circuit, and change baudrate. To monitor ECU's sensor signals through web there's a network socket program is working in Embedded Linux. It works as server program and manages user's connections and commands. Anyone who wants to monitor ECU's sensor signals he just only connect to Embedded Linux system with web browser then, Embedded Linux webserver will return the ActiveX webbased measurement software. It works in web browser and inits ECU, as a result it returns sensor signals through web. All the programs are developed with GCC(GNU C Compiler) and, webbased measurement software is developed with Borland C++ Builder.

In general, the stability and response characteristics of the system can be improved by changing the pole position because a nonlinear system can be linearized by the product of a 1st and 2nd order system. Therefore, a controller that moves the pole can be designed in various ways. Among the other methods, LQ control ensures the stability of the system. On the other hand, it is difficult to specify the location of the pole arbitrarily because the desired response characteristic is obtained by selecting the weighting matrix by trial and error. This paper evaluated a method of selecting a weighting matrix of LQ control that moves multiple double poles with Jordan blocks to real poles. The relational equation between the double poles and weighting matrices were derived from the characteristic equation of the Hamiltonian system with a diagonal control weighting matrix and a state weighting matrix represented by two variables (ρd, ϕd). The Moving-Range was obtained under the condition that the state-weighting matrix becomes a positive semi-definite matrix. This paper proposes a method of selecting poles in this range and calculating the weighting matrices by the relational equation. Numerical examples are presented to show the usefulness of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a fast-transient digital LDO(Low dropout) regulator with binary-weighted current control technique. Conventional digital LDO takes a long time to stabilize the output voltage, because it controls the amount of current step by step, thus ringing problem is generated. Binary-weighted current control technique rapidly stabilizes output voltage by removing the ringing problem. When output voltage reliably reaches the target voltage, It added the FRZ mode(Freeze) to stop the operation of digital LDO. The proposed fast response digital LDO is used with a slow response DC-DC converter in the system which rapidly changes output voltage. The proposed digital controller circuit area was reduced by 56% compared to conventional bidirectional shift register, and the ripple voltage was reduced by 87%. A chip was implemented with a $0.18{\mu}F$ CMOS process. The settling time is $3.1{\mu}F$ and the voltage ripple is 6.2mV when $1{\mu}F$ output capacitor is used.
Different biological tissues have different values of electrical resistivity. In EIT (electrical impedance tomography), we try to provide cross-sectional images of a resistivity distribution inside an electrically conducting subject such as the human body mainly for functional imaging. However, it is well known that the image reconstruction problem in EIT is ill-posed and the quality of a reconstructed image highly depends on the measurement error. This requires us to develop a high-performance EIT system. In this paper, we describe the development of a 16-channel digital EIT system including a single constant current source, 16 voltmeters, main controller, and PC. The system was designed and implemented using the FPGA-based digital technology. The current source injects 50KHz sinusoidal current with the THD (total harmonic distortion) of 0.0029% and amplitude stability of 0.022%. The single current source and switching circuit reduce the measurement error associated with imperfect matching of multiple current sources at the expense of a reduced data acquisition time. The digital voltmeter measuring the induced boundary voltage consists of a differential amplifier, ADC, and FPGA (field programmable gate array). The digital phase-sensitive demodulation technique was implemented in the voltmeter to maximize the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio). Experimental results of 16-channel digital voltmeters showed the SNR of 90dB. We used the developed EIT system to reconstruct resistivity images of a saline phantom containing banana objects. Based on the results, we suggest future improvements for a 64-channel muff-frequency EIT system for three-dimensional dynamic imaging of bio-impedance distributions inside the human body.

In this paper, we propose a new safety system composed of wearable devices, driver's seat belt, and integrating controllers. The wearable device and driver's seat belt capture driver's biological information, while the integrating controller analyzes captured signal to alarm the driver or directly control the car appropriately according to the status of the driver. Previous studies regarding driver's safety from driver's seat, steering wheel, or facial camera to capture driver's physiological signal and facial information had difficulties in gathering accurate and continuous signals because the sensors required the upright posture of the driver. Utilizing wearable sensors, however, our proposed system can obtain continuous and highly accurate signals compared to the previous researches. Our advanced wearable apparatus features a sensor that measures the heart rate, skin conductivity, and skin temperature and applies filters to eliminate the noise generated by the automobile. Moreover, the acceleration sensor and the gyro sensor in our wearable device enable the reduction of the measurement errors. Based on the collected bio-signals, the criteria for identifying the driver's condition were presented. The accredited certification body has verified that the devices has the accuracy of the level of medical care. The laboratory test and the real automobile test demonstrate that our proposed system is good for the measurement of the driver's condition.
An amphibious inspection robot system (hereafter AIROS) is being developed to visually inspect the in-containment refueling storage water tank (hereafter IRWST) strainer in APR1400 instead of a human diver. Four IRWST strainers are located in the IRWST, which is filled with boric acid water. Each strainer has 108 sub-assembly strainer fin modules that should be inspected with the VT-3 method according to Reg. guide 1.82 and the operation manual. AIROS has 6 thrusters for submarine voyage and 4 legs for walking on the top of the strainer. An inverse kinematic algorithm was implemented in the robot controller for exact walking on the top of the IRWST strainer. The IRWST strainer has several top cross braces that are extruded on the top of the strainer, which can be obstacles of walking on the strainer, to maintain the frame of the strainer. Therefore, a robot leg should arrive at the position beside the top cross brace. For this reason, we used an image processing technique to find the top cross brace in the sole camera image. The sole camera image is processed to find the existence of the top cross brace using the cross edge detection algorithm in real time. A 5-DOF robot arm that has multiple camera modules for simultaneous inspection of both sides can penetrate narrow gaps. For intuitive presentation of inspection results and for management of inspection data, inspection images are stored in the control PC with camera angles and positions to synthesize and merge the images. The synthesized images are then mapped in a 3D CAD model of the IRWST strainer with the location information. An IRWST strainer mock-up was fabricated to teach the robot arm scanning and gaiting. It is important to arrive at the designated position for inserting the robot arm into all of the gaps. Exact position control without anchor under the water is not easy. Therefore, we designed the multi leg robot for the role of anchoring and positioning. Quadruped robot design of installing sole cameras was a new approach for the exact and stable position control on the IRWST strainer, unlike a traditional robot for underwater facility inspection. The developed robot will be practically used to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the inspection of nuclear power plant components.

In this paper, we propose the structure of a high-performance face-detection engine that responds well to facial rotating changes using rotation transformation which minimize the required memory usage compared to the previous face-detection engine. The validity of the proposed structure has been verified through the implementation of FPGA. For high performance face detection, the MCT (Modified Census Transform) method, which is robust against lighting change, was used. The Adaboost learning algorithm was used for creating optimized learning data. And the rotation transformation method was added to maintain effectiveness against face rotating changes. The proposed hardware structure was composed of Color Space Converter, Noise Filter, Memory Controller Interface, Image Rotator, Image Scaler, MCT(Modified Census Transform), Candidate Detector / Confidence Mapper, Position Resizer, Data Grouper, Overlay Processor / Color Overlay Processor. The face detection engine was tested using a Virtex5 LX330 FPGA board, a QVGA grade CMOS camera, and an LCD Display. It was verified that the engine demonstrated excellent performance in diverse real life environments and in a face detection standard database. As a result, a high performance real time face detection engine that can conduct real time processing at speeds of at least 60 frames per second, which is effective against lighting changes and face rotating changes and can detect 32 faces in diverse sizes simultaneously, was developed.
