Parallel implementation and performance assessment of the grid assembly in a structured chimera grid approach is studied. The grid assembly process, involving hole cutting and searching donor, is parallelized on the PC cluster. A message passing programming model based on the MPI library is implemented using the single program multiple data(SPMD) paradigm. The coarse-grained communication is optimized with the minimized memory allocation because that the parallel grid assembly can access the decomposed geometry data in other processors by only message passing in the distributed memory system such as a PC cluster. The grid assembly workload is based on the static load balancing tied to flow solver. A goal of this work is a development of parallelized grid assembly that is suited for handling multiple moving body problems with large grid size.
A microgrid is an aggregation of multiple distributed generators (DGs) such as renewable energy sources, conventional generators, and energy storage systems that provide both electric power and thermal energy. Generally, a microgrid operates in parallel with the main grid. However, there are cases in which a microgrid operates in islanded mode, or in a disconnected state. Islanded microgrid can change its operational mode to grid-connected operation by reconnection to the grid, which is referred to as synchronization. Generally, a single machine simply synchronizes with the grid using a synchronizer. However, the synchronization of microgrid that operate with multiple DGs and loads cannot be controlled by a traditional synchronizer, but needs to control multiple generators and energy storage systems in a coordinated way. This is not a simple job, considering that a microgrid consists of various power electronics-based DGs as well as alternator-based generators that produce power together. This paper introduces the results of research examining an active synchronizing control system that consists of the network-based coordinated control of multiple DGs. Consequently, it provides the microgrid with a deterministic and reliable reconnection to the grid. The proposed method is verified by using the test cases with the experimental setup of a microgrid pilot plant.
Multiple parallel inverters have multiple resonant frequencies that are influenced by many factors. This often results in stability and power quality problems. This paper develops a multiple input multiple output model of grid-connected inverter systems using a closed-loop transfer function. The influence factors of the resonant characteristics are analyzed with the developed model. The analysis results show that the resonant frequency is closely related to the number, type and composition ratio of the parallel inverters. To suppress resonance, a scheme based on virtual impedance is presented, where the virtual impedance is emulated in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. The proposed scheme needs one inverter with virtual impedance control, which reduces the design complexity of the other inverter controllers. Simulation and experimental tests are carried out on two single phase converter-based setups. The results validate the correctness of the model, the analytical results and the resonant suppressing scheme.
This paper deals with the instability and resonant phenomena in distribution systems with multiple grid-connected inverters with an LCL output filter. The penetration of roof-top and other types of small photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected systems is rapidly increasing in distribution grids due to the attractive incentives set forth by different governments. When the number of such grid-connected inverters increases, their interaction with the distribution grid may cause undesirable effects such as instability and resonance. In this paper, a grid system with several grid-connected inverters is studied. Since proportional-resonant (PR) controllers are becoming more popular, it is assumed that most inverters use this type of controller. An LCL filter is also considered at the inverters output to make the case as realistic as possible. A complete modeling of this system is presented. Consequently, it is shown that such a system is prone to instability due to the interactions of the inverter controllers. A modification of PR controllers is presented where the output capacitor is virtually decreased. As a result, the instability is avoided. Simulation results are presented and show a good agreement with the theoretical studies. Experimental results obtained on a laboratory setup show the validity of the analysis.

Low voltage ride through capability augmentation of a hybrid micro-grid system is presented in this paper which reflects enhanced reliability in the system. The control scheme involves parallel connected multiple ac-dc bidirectional converters. When the micro-grid system is subjected to a severe voltage dip by any transient fault single power converter may not be able to provide necessary reactive power to overcome the severe voltage dip. This paper discusses the control strategy of additional power converter connected in parallel with main converter to support extra reactive power to withstand the severe voltage dip. During transient fault, when the terminal voltage crosses 90% of its pre-fault value, additional converter comes into operation. With the help of additional power converter, the micro-grid system withstands the severe voltage fulfilling the grid code requirements. This multiple converter scheme provides the micro-grid system the capability of low voltage ride through which makes the system more reliable and stable.

In this paper, we investigate the degrees of freedom (DoF) of a multi-cell multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) interference broadcast channel (IBC) with non-cooperation distributed base stations (BS), where each BS serves users of its corresponding cell. When all BSs simultaneously transmit their own signals over the same frequency band in the MIMO IBC, the edge users in each cell will suffer the inter-cell interference (ICI) and inter-user interference (IUI) signals. In order to eliminate the ICI and IUI signals, a distributed space time interference alignment (DSTIA) approach is proposed where each BS has only limited access to distributed moderately-delay channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). It is shown that the DSTIA scheme can obtain the appreciate DoF gains. In addition, the DoF upper bound is asymptotically achievable as the number of antenna at each BS increases. It is shown that the DSTIA method can get DoF gains over other interference alignment schemes with delayed CSIT in literature. Moreover, the DSTIA method can attain higher DoFs than the IA schemes with global CSIT for certain antenna configurations.
In this paper, a global path generation method is suggested using multiple grid maps connected with the mission type of unmanned combat vehicle(UCV). In order to carry out a mission for UCV, it is essential to find a global path which is coincident with the characteristics of the mission. This can be done by considering various combat circumstances represented as grid maps such as velocity map, threat map and communication map. Cost functions of multiple grid maps are linearly combined and normalized to them simultaneously for the path generation. The proposed method is realized using $A^*$, a well known search algorithm, and cost functions are normalized in the ratio of the traverse time which is one of critical information should be provided with the operators using the velocity map. By the experiments, it is checked found global paths match with the mission type by reflecting input data of grid maps properly and the computation time is short enough to regenerate paths in real time as combat circumstances change.
This paper presents an impedance-matching-based control scheme for the harmonic resonance damping of multiple grid-connected-converters (GCCs) with LCL filters. As indicated in this paper, harmonic resonance occurs if a GCC possesses an output impedance that is not matched with the rest of the network in some specific frequency bands. It is also revealed that the resonance frequency is associated with the number of GCCs, the grid impedance and even the capacitive loads. By controlling the grid-side current instead of the converter-side current, the critical LCL filter is restricted as an internal component. Thus, the closed-loop output impedance of the GCC within the filter can be configured. The proposed scheme actively regulates the output impedance of the GCC to match the impedance of the external network, based on the detected resonance frequency. As a result, the resonance risk of multiple GCCs can be avoided, which is beneficial for the plug-and-play property of the GCCs in microgrids. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
In this paper, a grid connected microgrid with multiple inverter-based distributed generators (DGs) is considered. DG in FFC mode regulates the microgrid as a controllable load from the utility point of view as long as its output is within the capacity limit. The transition mode causes a change in frequency of microgrid due to the loss of power transferred between main grid and microgrid. Frequency deviation from the nominal value can exceed the limit if the loss of power is large enough. This paper presents a coordinated control method for inverter-based DGs so that the microgrid is always regulated as a constant load from the utility viewpoint during grid connected mode, and the frequency deviation in the transition mode is minimized. DGs can share the load by changing their control modes between UPC and FFC and stabilize microgrid during transition.
